Cedric furrowed his brows, his gaze fixed in the direction where Natalie and Heather had

just departed.

"Stop looking at them!" Stephen commanded, his tone significantly graver.

There was an unmistakable difference in his attitude.

Before, Natalie was his niece.

Now that he confirmed Natalie was his own daughter, everything was different!

Many things had transpired that Natalie hadn't spoken of since her return from Wexford,

but Stephen had learned much from Clyde.

Hence, his stance toward Cedric now was markedly different than before.

Cedric glanced at Stephen and began, "She just..."

"As you've seen, her vision has deteriorated rapidly. The doctors say that without surgery,

she won't have much time left with her vision," Stephen cut him off coldly.

At that moment, Cedric felt an overwhelming pang and suffocation in his chest.

"How...?" he managed to murmur.

"Heather mentioned that Irwin took her to Mount Elven," Stephen elaborated.

Mount Elven?

Cedric's heart tightened. When he discovered that Irwin had taken Natalie there, his heart

had been gripped with tension.

He had subconsciously believed that Natalie's constitution wasn't suited for such cold

climates. However, he hadn't expected the consequences to be this severe, least of all for

her eyes...!

"The snow and sunlight had a profound impact on her eyes, leading to her current

condition," Stephen said with a sigh, his voice laden with regret.

Cedric felt an intensified pain in his heart upon hearing Stephen's words.

Was it truly Irwin's decision to take her to Mount Elven that caused her rapid vision

decline?

A storm of emotions raged within him, plunging him into a cold, frenzied world.

Feeling Cedric's intensity, Stephen sighed again. "Don't come looking for her anymore."

Stephen had given him one chance, but Cedric failed to cherish it.

Cedric had assumed that Natalie would always be there. He assumed she would always

wait for him, hence his reckless behavior!

Yes!

That was how the old Cedric behaved.

Natalie had given him countless chances, so he recklessly chose her to abandon first

every time something happened!

But things were different now.

Natalie once had nothing, so Cedric always had her forgiveness as long as he wanted it.

So, he took her for granted.

However, Natalie's world was now filled with various family members. It was because of

these very relatives that they were showing Cedric, through their actions, that he likely

had no more chances left.

Cedric had exhausted all opportunities within Natalie's world.

Now... even if Natalie wanted to give him another chance, what difference would it make?

The people around her would never agree.

Indeed, those surrounding Natalie would never grant him any opportunities.

"It was excruciating circumstances last time. At that time..." Cedric began.

"It doesn't matter!" Stephen interrupted, his tone laced with a hint of hostility.

At that time? Did he dare to bring that up in front of Stephen?!

The look in Stephen's eyes turned dark, and his voice grew colder than before. "That time

might have been significant to you."

"..."

"But for us? Even if it meant that child's death, you should have taken her away and kept

your distance! Whatever importance it held for you, it meant nothing to us."

"Yet, you intended to use my granddaughter to save someone who meant nothing to us?"
