Chapter 198

Behind her, John spoke with his deep, alluring voice. “Ms. Sachs.”

Cordy’s heart skipped a beat.

She had no idea when he came up behind her, and she was a little afraid to turn around.

After all, she was very nervous, and her heart was pounding.

She took a moment to let her breathing and heart rate return to its regular rhythm before turning around

The man was in his tuxedo, carrying a huge bouquet of roses as he stood under the colors of the night

like a scene from a dream.

Her heart once again pumped wildly right after she had it under controll

“Sorry to keep you waiting. He flashed a smile-one of unparalleled beauty.

Cordy averted her eyes. “So you left for an entire day to prepare this surprise for me and not actually

for a business discussion.”

“Who said it wasn’t a business discussion?” John chuckled. “Have I not been working hard to acquire a

small enterprise?”

Cordy snorted. Did he really just call her a small enterprise?

Nonetheless, John took her hand and led her to the table.

Since Ayro Island was in the tropics and the nights were cool, the sea breeze was pleasantly relaxing

as they sat at the dining table.

As they ate their dinner, Cordy admitted to herself that she had never taken John for being such a

hopeless romantic.

In fact, she was under the impression that they would just simply pack their bags and go home. instead

of having such a perfect ending to their trip.

Even in years to come, she would always remember this night… when her heart rate kept rising.

A violin’s melody was then heard from the beach.

Cordy blinked, watching as John put down his knife and fork and walked around the table to her,

arching his back and reaching out with his long hand. “May I have this dance, Ms. Sachs?”

Cordy held her breath but slowly put her palm on John’s.

They gently swayed to the tune of the violin, breathing very close to each other and very audibly.

“Are you satisfied with this trip, Ms. Sachs?” John eventually asked, clearing the exceedingly nervous

and delicate atmosphere between them just then.

“I am,” Cordy murmured, nodding.

“But I’m not,” John said bluntly. 1/2

She frowned “What? Is there something you still want to do?”

They had done virtually everything, and she was putting her life on the line as she played along!

That was when he whispered into her ear, “Well, there’s you.”

Cordy was speechless, and she suddenly did not want to make a sound because of that single word

from him.

They had also stopped swaying to the music as well, and her fingers clenched on John’s tuxedo.

In turn, his gaze lingered over her face, flawless yet without the tiniest bit of makeup. Then, darting

between her enthralling facial features, his eyes eventually lingered over her scarlet lips.

He asked, “May I, Ms. Sachs?”

She was too nervous to tell if they could-she did not know if she would suddenly push him over.

And yet…

She suddenly stood on her toes and kissed him, her tender lips pressing against his.

Their hearts simultaneously skipped a beat, and Cordy closed her eyes.

Her little tongue started to reach between John’s teeth, touching his…

She wanted to try because there was a chance that John could help her forget the past she wanted to

let go of…

Or maybe he could help her accept her own messy past in stride.
