Chapter 470
In the middle of the quiet meal, John's phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller, and his
expression twisted slightly.
"It's Grandpa."
Gordy’s eyes twitched slightly, but she continued looking down and eating her breakfast. John would
take it outside and away from her hearing range if it were a private call.
After all, that's what happened every time Jessica called.
"What is it?"
After a moment, a hint of panic flashed across John's face.
Cordy wondered what had happened that could cause John's mood to change so drastically. She could
see his hand holding the phone had also started to shake.
His eyes also seemed to have reddened.
"Okay. I got it."

"What happened?’ Cordy finally asked.

"Jay, he... there's been an accident,’ John said, clearly trying his best to control the emotions in his
voice.
Cordy felt her heart get stuck in her throat.

"Last night, his car rolled off the mountainside at eleven. It was a completely different slope than the
one your accident was at. They only managed to rescue him at five this morning. He's still in critical
condition at the hospital right now. They're not sure if he'll make it."
John sounded choked up, and he was clearly struggling to keep calm.
Cordy was anxious then, and she didn't know what to say, much less how to comfort him.
"I have to go back," John said bluntly.
Cordy nodded. ’I'll go with you-"
"No, stay here for now. It's safer than North City," John said firmly.
Cordy moved to argue but ultimately decided to accept his words. She didn't want to start a fight at this
time with John.
"I'll be back as soon as possible.’
"It's fine. I'm alone here, so I have plenty of freedom," Cordy said honestly.
She also didn’t want Jay to miss out on seeing Jay because of her. What if...
Cordy felt her stomach lurch at the thought and didn't want to think any further than that.
Jay still had a fighting chance as long as the hospital tried to save him.
Besides, medical technology had advanced a lot in modern days, so it was highly likely that Jay would
live.
John didn't say anything more. He didn't bother eating another bite of breakfast and left directly.
Cordy didn't have much appetite left after the news either, so she picked up her phone and crutches
