Chapter 983

So that's what everyone was gasping about?

And Cordy was wondering if it had been something serious.

But did they have to flaunt their affection like this, when they were just a few paces away from the

stage?

Were they that eager they couldn't wait for when this ceremony was over?

Cordy turned her eyes away coldly, while John helped Nana up the stage.

The emcee stepped aside, letting the priest quickly go through the grand motions of blessing the new

couple.

There was certainly no delay-the wedding ceremony was being rushed because of Nana's poor health,

and they were soon at the part of the exchanging of the vows.

It was quite the simple ceremony.

As Nana and John stood at the center of the stage, the priest asked John," Lucas Lynch, wilt thou have

this woman to thy wedded wife; love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health;

and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto her, so long as ye both shall live?"

Then, the priest turned towards Nana. "Nana Lynd, wilt thou have this man to thy wedded husband;

love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep

thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live?"

"I will," Nana replied.

And with that, the priest declared them a formally married couple. The

emcee's voice boomed with excitement, "Let's give a warm round of applause to the newlyweds as

they retire to their bridal suite!"

It was certainly a simple ceremony for such a grand wedding reception.

However, just as John was about to help Nana leave the stage, she gestured at the emcee, who

quickly handed her the mic.

She said, "My family and Lucas were hoping that our wedding ceremony would be simpler given my

health issues, but I’d rather not have any regrets on the most important day of my life. That is why I

shall grant my own wish to say the many thoughts I have, at this most precious moment of mine."

The crowd applauded again-they were certainly eager to back her up.

On the other hand, John pursed his lips and whispered into Nana's ear," Your health is more important,

Nana."

"It's fine." Nana beamed at him.

That smile projected immeasurable bliss-she was just so hopelessly in love with him.

Cordy watched them, indifferent as ever.

Nana's twisted nature aside, she wasn't hiding her love at all.

It made sense that John would choose her, since he wouldn’t be able to let her go.

"I'm sure I’ll regret it if I don't say it today,’ Nana said, still watching John lovingly. "I don't want to miss

the greatest moment of my life, and leave it to regret."

John said nothing. The banquet hall turned utterly silent, as everyone seemed keen to find out what

Nana was actually going to say.

Seeing that John was giving her a silent approval, Nana continued, "I really wanted to thank my

grandmother for her love and understanding. She never gave up on me even as a child and gave me

all her love, despite my health being exceedingly poor. She raised me with so much dedication that I

could finally live like a normal person. I love you, Grandma."

Nana nodded formally as the spotlight turned towards Jean in her celebratory attire, who smiled mildly

at Nana in return.

Naturally, the heartwarming exchange between grandmother and granddaughter left a considerable

chunk of the crowd emotional.

"Naturally, I also have to thank my parents for giving me such a precious body, as well as my dear

friends for their love and understanding."

The crowd applauded thunderously.

In the minds of many, Nana was weak.

And it was human nature to side with the weak.
