Chapter 464

David’s eyes narrowed slightly and, a chill flickered. He lowered his voice and asked, “All the time?”

He guessed they were monitoring Rachel’s movements on the pretext of protecting her.

“Compared to the practices of other prestigious families, the Johnson family does not have that many regulations.

However, everyone in the Johnson family had to ab*de by one rule.” Rachel felt powerless as she enlightened

David. “We are not allowed to flaunt our wealth.”

Although Rachel did not elaborate, David could easily figure out the reason behind the rule.

The Johnson family had a high profile in Seaxas. Their status and influence were coveted by many. It was inevitable

that they would target the younger generation of the family.

Holding the steering wheel with one hand, David cast a glance at Rachel. “Is that why you went to study at

Pollister?”

Rachel nodded and said evenly, “During that time, Darcy was not only my driver, but he was also responsible for

my safety. After graduation, Darcy left the Johnson family, but he kept in touch with us all these years.”

David did not say anything. However, his eyes hinted at sarcasm.

Darcy left the Johnson family but remained in contact with the Johnson family.

This man was a very patient predator.

When both of them returned to Sandalwood Hills, Rachel went to the bathroom to take a shower.

After bathing, she saw David standing on the balcony. He was on the phone. He had his back facing the bedroom,

with one hand on the railing. It was not difficult to detect his detached yet imposing aura.

Hearing footsteps behind him, David turned around and saw Rachel.

The moment his gaze landed on her, the coldness in his eyes seemed to have dissipated. It was replaced by a rare

display of tenderness.

Dressed with only a bathrobe, Rachel was wiping her hair dry with a towel.

As she moved, the loose neckline of the bathrobe parted slightly, revealing her fair skin and delicate collarbone.

They were completely exposed in front of David.

David’s eyes darkened as he walked toward Rachel.

The moment David walked into the bedroom, he could smell the sweet aroma emanating from her body. It was as

fresh and invigorating as the dewdrops on a blooming rose. The fragrance was tempting yet distant.

He bent down and buried his head in the crook of her neck. Exhaling deeply, he caressed her waist with his broad

palms, softly pinching her skin through the thin material of her dress. He kissed her lightly on her lips.

At the end of the call, David said without much emotion, “Got it, Grandma.”

“Grandma?” Rachel was a little surprised that Old Mrs. Jones was still awake as it was already late into the night.

David said to Rachel, “Marina will be staying for dinner tonight.”

Rachel nodded and walked to the dressing table to apply her skincare regimen.

Through the mirror, she saw David pick up the shirt she had bought for him that day.

“Do you want to try it?” Rachel asked.

David raised his eyes and looked at her. He then raised his hands and started unbuttoning his shirt.

“Er… do you want to excuse yourself?” Rachel’s face was flushed crimson.

She tried to look down, but her gaze instinctively landed on him.

Slowly, the buttons became undone.

As he removed the buttons with one hand, both his chest and abdomen became visible to Rachel. His muscles were

taut and firm.

Rachel swallowed hard and only came back to her senses when she noticed that the toner was overflowing on her

palms.

Flustered, she placed the bottle on the table and smeared the liquid absently on her face.

David now understood how many rulers of the past, who were captivated by the beauty of women, lost their senses

when they were unable to resist their charms.
