Instead, she found a basket of freshly picked strawberries on the sidewalk Nina stood there, stunned. She picked up the basket and looked around, calling out, "Wilfred! Cout, I need to talk to you! Why are you hiding from me?" She was so close to getting answers, but he had vanished, leaving behind a basket of strawberries. What did this mean? She looked around but could not find him. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air.
"Nina!" Yvonne called out. Not seeing her friend, she feared Nina had been taken.
Then she spotted her on the other side of the street, looking around for something. "Nina, wait there! I'll cto you." Nina found the basket of strawberries heavy, much like Wilfred's feelings for her. He might not be entirely bad, but his emotions towards her were complicated. Perhaps they had once been very close.
Deep down, Nina felt a bit lost. It was as if a missing piece of her heart left her feeling empty and uninterested in anything.
Yvonne reached her, putting an arm around her. "What are you looking for? I thought someone might have taken you again." "I'm looking for someone," Nina replied.
"Who? Who are you looking for?" Yvonne asked.
"Wilfred." "Oh, that handsguy? The one who should have been a movie star? Did you see him?" "I saw him watching me, but by the tI crossed, he was gone." "Really? Are you sure it wasn't just your imagination?" Yvonne asked, thinking there was no reason for him to avoid her.
"Then how do you explain this basket of strawberries?" Nina questioned.
Yvonne looked at the basket, a bit surprised. "He likes giving you strawberries to please you, but why won't he see you?" Even Yvonne found Wilfred a bit odd.
Nina shook her head. "I don't know." Thinking about Nash still being unconscious in the hospital, Yvonne took Nina's arm. "Let's not dwell on it. Let's head back to the hospital, eat something, and then think it over." As they walked back toward the hospital, Nina kept glancing around, afraid of missing Wilfred. She had so many questions for him.
