His words did not address the real issue, nor did they comfort her. This only made her angrier.
"Fine, then get out of the way!" Nina's tone was icy.
Nash wisely stepped back, and Nina slammed the car door shut. She refused to look at him, staring coldly ahead. Yvonne, feeling like an invisible bystander, thought Nash would convince Nina to stay. After all, he had chased after her, indicating he cared. But the outcwas bewildering. As the cars moved aside, clearing the way, Yvonne drove slowly.
Nina tried to act like she did not care, but deep down, she cared a lot. She wondered how much Nash loved her and what he would sacrifice for her. It seemed like she got no answers.
Unable to help herself, she glanced at the rearview mirror, the only place where she could see him without his knowing.
She saw Nash standing there, watching their car with a look of longing.
This sight almost broke her. Her heart ached with love for him, making the pain more acute. She wanted to look away, but her eyes couldn't. She watched him untichis figure disappeared, yet she still wanted to see him.
Even a simple plea for her to stay would have been enough.
