"What did you say?" Aurora felt as if she was struck by lightning. "You can't just stop seeingbecause I look like your ex-wife. That's not fair!" "Why wouldn't it be fair? We were never close to begin with. You saved me, and I saved you. We're even." Aurora clenched her fists. "So, the reason you chere today and wanted to take a walk with me, was just to tellthis?" "Yes," Theodore admitted. "I wanted to tell you these things." Aurora closed her eyes in pain. She had thought that maybe they could spend stalone together. Foolishly, she had imagined that they might develop feelings for each other.
She hadn't expected him to say something so cruel. She had been overthinking it all along.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtYet, she couldn't stop her tears from falling. She didn't know why, but her heart hurt so much. Perhaps it was because from the very first moment she saw Theodore, she had fallen in love with him.
It was only after meeting Theodore that she understood what love at first sight meant.
Seeing Aurora cry so sorrowfully, Theodore said in a low voice, "You're really foolish. I'm not a good man." He could sense that Aurora liked him. The way she looked at him was different. Now, it seemed he wasn't wrong in thinking that.
However, when Theodore thought about it further, he realized how laughable he was. Rosalie had once loved him so deeply, but he couldn't see it. Now, when another woman liked him, he recognized it immediately. Maybe it was because when facing the person he loved, he panicked and felt uncertain. When facing someone he didn't love, he could see things objectively like a bystander.
As the saying went, an outsider could see things more clearly or objectively than those involved.
Aurora's tears made Theodore feel a little guilty. "We haven't seen each other that many times. In a few days, you'll feel better. I'm not a good person. I've hurt my ex-wife deeply before. I don't deserve to be liked by anyone." Aurora bit her lip and wiped the tears from her face I don't care what kind of person you are. I know you still love your ex-wife, and I know you have no interest in me, but I stiuhave the right to like someone, don't I? Can you not try to convinceotherwise? If one day I stop liking you, I hope it will be my decision." Theodore sighed helplessly. "Fine, but I can't give you anything. To me, you're just a stranger. Even though you look a little like Rosalie, you're not her." "Stop saying that." Aurora covered her ears. "I know my place. I beg you to stop mentioning that, okay?" Seeing her in such pain, Theodore said heavily, "I'm sorry."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe knew he had hurt Aurora, but he had to make things clear. Otherwise, she would only sink deeper, and it would be his fault. Just like with Cynthia, he had led her on, making her believe something that wasn't true. She had just been a tool to him.
He hadn't contacted Cynthia in a long time, and he had no idea how she was doing after that wedding ended.
He had no desire to reach out to her.
Aside from compensating her financially, he couldn't offer cynthia ve anything else. Aurora wiped the last of her tears from her face. "Do you really never want to seeagain?" Theodore nodded. "Yeah."
Aurora gritted her teeth. "The reason you don't want to seeis because I look like your ex wife. Are you afraid? Afraid that you might mistakefor her and develop feelings for me?"
