What the hell was this guy up to?
Sarah rushed to the central hall, only to discover that the central monitor began streaming footage from other areas.
People in those regions had started to die one after the other, meeting their ends in gruesfashion.
Panic gripped the researchers in the hall; everyone was asking.
"What in the world is going on? What's this guy up to?"
"He's unleashed all the subjects meant to be weapons. Damn it! We're all gonna die here! We've done too many dirty deeds, and
now it's payback time."
"The modified subjects are going to slaughter us all."
Philip propped his chin in his hand, watching the screens with a fascinated gaze. Isaac, who should've been in charge of the
surveillance room, was now bound hand and foot, sitting on the floor to one side.
Phil stood in front of her, gripping a sharp dagger in his hand. He didn't know what Philip was planning, but he was ready to back
him up, no matter what.
Isaac was getting on in years but had aged well. Now, she watched Philip's actions in shock. Not only had he released the test
subjects, but he had also injected them with a drug that made them frenzied.
Though these subjects weren't as formidable as Subject 8, their ferocity and agility were terrifying.
To these killing machines, the researchers were enemies, targets to be eliminated without mercy.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHad Philip lost his mind? This could destroy the entire base.
Just then, the ground trembled slightly again, and Philip felt it too. He looked at Isaac with a sly smile.
"Professor, even if | don't bring this place down, it's going to be destroyed soon. Haven't you noticed? The animals we've been
keeping have been restless recently. They can sense the earthquake coming. When exactly? Who can say. It's probably the first
quake in a century, isn't it? Terrible timing, but also perfect. | don't want any of those people to make it out alive."
Isaac's eyes were cold, but with her mouth gagged, she couldn't utter a single word to try and reason with him.
This base had stood for many years; surely they knew how to withstand an earthquake. Any tremor below a magnitude of eight,
the base could safely survive.
Philip watched the monitors, his lips curling into a smile as he observed the researchers being slain. He had never felt such
satisfaction, the skind he experienced as a child when he tormented small creatures. As long as he saw any of those creatures
were slaughtered, he'd feel fulfilled, a satisfaction that no one else could provide for him.
The researchers who lived here were no different from those small creatures in his eyes.
Isaac struggled briefly, attempting to intervene, but Philip's eyes were too excited, fixated on the most interesting spectacle of all.
His expression told everyone that nothing could stop him now.
As the chairman, he had access to all the drugs within the base, and he could monitor the subjects at any time.
He smiled, propping his chin with one hand, wondering where lan might be hiding. Phil, holding the dagger, asked curiously, "Philip,
should we kill the professor?"
"See that vial on the table? Administer it to her."
"Alright."
Phil never questioned why, nor did he plead for mercy for anyone. He grabbed the vial from the table, pulled the gag from Isaac's
mouth, and began to pour the liquid down her throat.
Isaac seized the moment to speak.
"Have you lost your mind? Do you have any idea what you're doing? Do you even know the kind of international powers behind this
research base? If you destroy this place, even if you get out, you'll be hunted down by a slew of people. Philip, you've just become
the chairman, you have such a bright future, you..."
Before she could finish, Philip picked up the container next to him and splashed its contents over her. The corrosive drug began to
eat away at her skin, threatening to make her eyeballs burst from their sockets.
"Ahhh!" Isaac screamed, fully aware of the base's lack of conscience and Philip's unpredictable nature.
But she never imagined he would act so swiftly and ruthlessly. He was determined to destroy the place, even at the cost of his own
life. A man who feared nothing was the most dangerous of all.
Philip ignored her screams, his attention still fixed on the monitors.
"Professor, | should thank you for helpingbecchairman. It seems you have even more power than Sarah, overseeing this
surveillance room. | guess you've been quite the bootlicker to the higher-ups, haven't you?"
Isaac's face was now devoid of skin; she couldn't speak a word, only a garbled mess of sounds.
