Chapter 512

Seeing Holden looking a bit off, Maja walked over and began to massage his shoulders.

“Grandpa Holden, I learned this massage technique online. Let me give it a go; help you loosen up a bit.”

One thing Holden admired about Maja was her generosity; she never had ulterior motives in anything she did.

He put down his chess piece and said, “That’s great, Maja. If only lan could be as understanding as you, I’d be

satisfied.”

lan had always been by Holden’s side, so Holden knew him like the back of his hand.

lan had been a hero since he was little, which made him a bit hard–nosed and decisive.

Maja stood behind Holden, pressing gently with her fingertips.

Holden sighed. “lan has a bit of a temper. He’s not much for talking, but push him, and he might do something

drastic.”

Maja’s hands paused, not quite sure what “do something drastic” specifically referred to.

Holden raised his hand and patted her on the back of her hand.

“If you ever feel you’ve been treated unfairly, come and talk to me like you did last time. Ian’s kind of stubborn; I

don’t know if he’s been giving you a hard time. “Not at all.”

After spending two hours with Holden, Maja was just leaving when she saw Carol in a taxi while waiting at a traffic

light.

Carol’s hand was wrapped in gauze, and she was sitting next to Felix.

Maja honked her horn twice. Carol looked around, saw it was Maja, and happily waved to her.

Carol pointed ahead, signaling the taxi to stop.

Both cars stopped ahead; Carol got out and said, “Maja.”

Maja glanced at Felix next to her and asked, “What happened to your hand?”

Carol sighed, “No biggie. Felix’s cousin, Listina Geo, has been refusing surgery recently and has been really

unstable. She threw a fruit knife at me, and it cut my palm.”

Even though Carol appeared nonchalant, she was really scared of pain. She hadn’t even pierced her ears yet, all

because she was afraid of the pain.

Felix held Carol’s uninjured hand; his tone was gentle: “Carol, you shouldn’t come next time; Listina’s been really

unstable lately.”

Carol nodded. She was initially upset, but seeing Maja had cheered her up considerably.

Maja asked, “How many stitches?”

“Five.”

“Even if she has a bad temper, she should never have thrown a fruit knife at you. That’s attempted murder.”

Maja looked at Felix, trying to detect some emotion in his eyes, but all she saw was guilt.

“I shouldn’t have taken Carol to the hospital; we won’t go next time.”

Carol, who was quite smitten with Felix, quickly grabbed Maja’s arm.

“Maja, it’s not Felix’s fault. I didn’t expect Listina to throw the knife; she seems to hate me. So, I won’t go next

time.” Seeing this, Maja was actually a bit pissed off.

Carol was the only daughter of the Miller family, a real rich heiress; why should she take any shit from a poor boy

like Felix? Carol was such a classy lady; Felix didn’t seem like a fool; didn’t he know that Carol’s family was loaded?

Once this doubt surfaced, Maja couldn’t help but take a few more glances at Felix;

However, Carol grabbed Maja’s hand.

“You’re here; could you give us a lift home? Oh, and by the way, how’s your recovery going?”

Maja nodded and opened the car door for them.

Felix stuck close to Carol; when she got into the car, he carefully held his hand above her head to prevent her from

bumping it.

During the drive, Maja occasionally observed Felix through the rearview mirror.

But Felix was just staring at Carol holding her hand, his real emotions hidden.

When the car reached the place Felix was renting, they both got out.

Carol let Felix go first, then quietly asked Maja, “What should we do about Carlene’s pregnancy?”

“I really don’t know what to do.” Maja gently squeezed Carol’s face and said, “But you take care of yourself first. I

don’t understand why Listina is so hostile to you; throwing a fruit knife at someone who came to visit her is not

something a normal person would do.”

Carol sighed. “Felix told me that Listina’s parents are both deceased, her other relatives don’t want to take care of

her, and her health is really bad. She has brain cancer, and I’ve already hired the best international experts to

operate on her; after all, she’s Felix’s family. Maja, don’t worry about me.”

Carol smiled carefreely at Maja, and Maja couldn’t help but smile back.

“As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”

Seeing only Felix in Carol’s eyes, she must be happy. So Maja didn’t say anything else.
