Chapter 549

This woman has lived in Selena’s memory for thirty years. Now that she knew Maja was Lillian’s daughter, she

nearly shrieked. Steve, on the other hand, kept his silence. It was clear he’d known about this for a while.

Selena was sobbing and cursing for what felt like forever, finally bursting into a heartfelt cry, “You’ve crossed the

line, Steve! Just you wait and see! If I’m going down, I’m taking you with me!”

With that, she hung up the phone and headed straight for her mom’s place.

Edith watched as the once peaceful home was disrupted by Maja’s presence and couldn’t help but sigh. “What the

hell’s going on? That woman’s nothing but bad news. She’s trouble and sooner or later, she’ll be out of the

Raymond family.”

The two argued for hours at Rosewood Manor before finally leaving.

At the hospital, Holden rushed over as soon as he heard about lan’s accident. lan was still in surgery, the light still

on, but no one knew what was happening inside.

Holden coughed, seeming to age a few years in an instant. Fitch, worried about the old man, comforted him,

“Grandpa Holden, lan will be fine. You should go home

and rest.

Holden was reminded of when he first heard of Eric’s death, feeling just as helpless. He didn’t want to relive that

kind of pain.

Three hours later, the operating room door finally opened and lan was wheeled out.

Holden, supported by others, walked over, “How is he?”

Phelps took off his mask, his brows furrowed. “His back injury is serious, he might have a fever for a few days. We

need to monitor his concussion too. We’re taking him to the ICU now. Don’t worry, his life isn’t in danger.”

Relieved that lan’s life was not in danger, Holden almost fainted.

Then Edith arrived, her voice filling the entire hallway. “Damn it, how many more people does that bad luck woman

need to harm? Selena’s gone home to her mom, and you don’t even care. lan needs to divorce Maja right now. Our

family is going under, and it’s all because of that woman. She’s a jinx!”

Edith was so angry she was unsteady on her feet. She grabbed Holden’s arm, “They need to get a divorce.”

Holden, who was not in good health, almost fell from her grip. Others tried to intervene, but Edith ignored them. “I

don’t care. They need to divorce, or the Raymonds will never have peace!”

Holden took a deep breath, clearly tired. “Let’s wait until lan wakes up.”

Edith huffed and sat down.

Holden didn’t know that lan and Maja were together when the accident happened. No one mentioned it, and he

didn’t even tell Maja about lan’s injury. He thought if his grandson couldn’t appreciate what he had, there was no

point in worrying that girl.

lan was unconscious for three days. During this time, the Raymond family was in total chaos. Selena had gone to

her mother’s house in tears, so the Casson family sent someone over demanding an explanation and insisting Maja

leave the Raymond family.

In the Casson family’s words, if Maja continued to stay with the Raymonds, it would be an insult to the Cassons!

Steve never showed up once during this whole ordeal, showing just how indifferent he was toward his wife.

Between Selena, the Casson family, and Edith, the Raymonds hadn’t had a moment’s peace. However, Holden

didn’t tell Maja any of this. He just called her and told her to focus on her own stuff.

Maja had indeed been busy with the Pennyfeather group lately. The selection of the top management had reached

its final stages, and she didn’t know most of the staff well, except for one exceptionally capable person. So she was

busy familiarizing herself with the profiles of the executives. No one knew what these newly promoted people were

thinking, but they were all still on probation.

Maja also hired a private investigator to go to Crystalbrook Valley to look into the baby–switching incident from

years ago. But there was no news yet, so she could only deal with the Pennyfeather group’s matters and wait.

At the hospital, lan finally woke up. The first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was Holden Raymond sitting by

his bed. He instinctively wanted to ask where Penny was, but when he saw the look on Holden’s face, he shut his

mouth.

Holden’s expression was grim. When he saw lan awake, he called Phelps over to take a look. “lan’s concussion is

serious. He’ll need some time to recover. He should avoid straining his brain too much and avoid any head injuries.”

Holden nodded, signaling Jeff to get a glass of water for lan.

Jeff was luckier than lan in that he wasn’t injured, and he had been staying in the hospital room these past few

days.

Holden coughed a few times, and seeing that he was back to his usual aloof self, he asked, “Do you know who tried

to kill you?”

lan shook his head, “But my people will look into it.”

Holden was silent for a moment, feeling overwhelmed by the chaos in the Raymond family recently. “Do you have

someone you like now?”

lan instinctively wanted to deny it, but something stopped him, and he closed his mouth.
