Chapter 282 Where Are You?!
After answering the hotel’s phone call, Mu Zhi returned to the psychologist’s office distracted. She did not
stay longer and ended her session hastily. Then, she rushed out of the hospital and hailed a cab to go
back to the hotel.
Back at the hotel, the first thing she did was to ask the receptionist what had happened. However, even
the receptionist did not understand what had happened. She told Mu Zhi that a team of policeman had
rushed up to her room, but nothing else happened. They had just stayed there for a while and left.
As she did not know anything else, she suggested Mu Zhi to check her room herself.
That made Mu Zhi even more anxious. So, she ran up the stairs quickly to her room. When she pushed
open the door, she saw that Eric was seated dazedly on the sofa.
When he saw that Mu Zhi was back, he put up a happy face.
But Mu Zhi could see with a glance that Eric’s computer was still running.
“What’s wrong?”
Eric shook his head but did not speak.
Mu Zhi went to his side and took a good look at him. Eric was usually quiet, but that was just him being
cool. However, his current silence was different. It was the silence of a child in severe doubts.

“Eric, what’s wrong? Please tell me.”
Eric looked up earnestly with his large innocent eyes and asked, “Mom, do you think that dad was rarely
around and did not discipline me?”
Mu Zhi considered it for a moment before looking at Eric and said, “What happened? Why are you
asking this question suddenly? Your father loves you, and he knows that you are very clever.”

Eric stopped himself and did not continue. He went silent again.
Mu Zhi had never seen Eric behaving like this.

Seeing that she could not get an answer out of him, she became even more worried. She had only gone
out for a while, and she couldn’t understand why Eric had become like this when she returned.
She wanted to go downstairs to request for the surveillance footage. She needed to know who had come
to their room and what they had done to her child.
However, just as she was about to step out, she noticed a name card on the table.
Mu Zhi frowned as she looked at the name card. It was written, ‘Lu Jinye: telephone number…’

The name.
She couldn’t understand why seeing the name made her nervous.

reunion.
She had never felt those emotions before.

She urgently needed to find someone who knew what had happened and ask who it was that had made
her son dispirited.
She took out her phone and dialed Lu Jinye’s number, but he hung up on her.

It would have been fine if he had answered. The fact that he had hung up made her even angrier!

Mu Zhi immediately redialed the number.
But he hung up on her again.
Eric walked softly to Mu Zhi and said, “Mom, stop calling the man. He was right to discipline me.”
“Discipline?”
Mu Zhi frowned. Hearing the word from Eric made her even more concerned.
She did not know what Lu Jinye had said to him, but she understood that the word ‘discipline’ implied
reproaching.
So, Lu Jinye must have scolded Eric on the phone and caused him to be in such severe doubts.
Just thinking about it made her even angrier!
Eric was not his son, how dare he scold him without cause?
Mu Zhi redialed the number. This time, the call was finally answered.
When the call was answered, Mu Zhi immediately said, “Have you finally dared to answer my call? Do
you realize what you have done wrong?”
In her anger, she had scolded him in English.
Her voice was still the same.
However, as the language spoken was different, the pronunciation differences prevented Lu Jinye from
immediately recognizing her voice. He had only felt that the voice sounded familiar.
He replied in Chinese, “May I ask what I have done wrong?”

Lu Jinye tightened his grip on the phone. His hand was shaking as he recognized the woman’s voice. It
was the voice that he had been thinking about all the time.
“What’s wrong? Are you still there? Have I scared you that you can’t speak?”
Mu Zhi asked curiously when there was no reply from him.
Her voice was calmer and was compassionate.
On the other hand, Lu Jinye said, “Where are you now?”
“You have no right to know!”
Mu Zhi thought that he was very strange.
“Tell me! Where are you?!”
Mu Zhi was shocked by the sudden urgency in his voice.
She did not know what to say.
So, she dumbly replied, “Um… At…”
Before she could continue, her phone flashed with an incoming call.
Mu Zhi glanced at it and saw that it was a call from Xie Xiu.
Without hesitation, Mu Zhi immediately hung up on Lu Jinye and picked up Xie Xiu’s call.
“Hello?”
“Where are you?”
Xie Xiu asked. There was concern in his calm tone.
“Where else can I be? I am playing with Eric.”
Mu Zhi avoided his question.
“Are you in City A? Is City A fun?”
Xie Xiu asked from the other end.
Although his tone was light, Mu Zhi broke out in cold sweat.
She did not know how she could answer him.
