Bennett gave an awkward grin, keeping his lips sealed.
Upstairs, Carmella was on a call with Finley.
Finley exclaimed excitedly, “Carmella, you’ve really blown me away. I’m so proud of you!”
Carmella retained her composed smile, “I didn’t lie to you, did I? The show is a total hit!”
“That’s all credit to you! My dad specially called me over today to praise me for my good judgement. The
advertising sponsorship for the show has brought in some serious dough for our family, all thanks to you!” Finley
chuckled softly. “Let’s meet up tonight. I’ve booked a restaurant to celebrate you!” Since that day, Carmella and
Finley had gone out a few times. Although this was the case, she didn’t want to give Finley the impression that she
was too easygoing, so she said, “My parents have also planned a celebration party for me. Let’s reschedule our

Carmella was still in a good mood when her phone rang again, She glanced at the screen, and her face
immediately turned serious.
The phone kept ringing as though it would only stop if she answered.
Knowing she couldn’t dodge the bullet, Carmella reluctantly picked up the call, “Hello?”
“Congrats! I saw online that the show you’re a part of is a smashing success Victor said with a chuckle.
Carmella stiffly said, “What do you want? Don’t come asking me for money again. I have none to give you!”
“The bar my friends and I opened isn’t making any money. We’ve closed down!” Victor said.
Carmella burst out in anger, “Victor, do the math on how much money you’ve taken from me. All the nonsense
about your bar going under, you’ve never actually done any business. You gambled away all the money!”
Victor nonchalantly said, “Why are you so worked up? You’re on a hot streak right now. This amount of money is
nothing to you.”
“Victor, do you really think I’m living comfortably in the Macclain family? If I don’t hustle, I’ll be kicked out by the
Macclains in no time!”
Victor was unperturbed, “Is it really that bad?”
“Believe it or not, once I get kicked out, I’ll make you take care of me” Carmella sneered.

“Plan what?”
“Can you get me a job at the Macclain’s company? I gambled because I was bored. If you help me get a job, we can
work together to get all of Macclain’s money. Are you still afraid of them, then?” Victor said slyly.
Carmella was initially reluctant to bring Victor into the Macclain family’s sight, but his proposal tempted her.
Victor was right. After all, he was her biological brother. If she had her own influence within the Macclain family, she
wouldn’t have to fight alone.
Moreover, if she found Victor a job, maybe he could truly turn over a new leaf, stop gambling, and stop constantly
asking Carmella for money.
Carmella’s eyes flickered as she chuckled, “I can arrange a job for you at the Macclain’s company, but you can’t tell
anyone about our relationship. If you let it slip, we’ll both be in hot water!”
Victor immediately responded, “I’m not an idiot. I get it. Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any trouble”
