Even though the staircase and living room floor were carpeted, when Lambert took a tumble and rolled
all the way down, he still ended up sore all over. Rising with a grimace, he locked eyes with Alvis; his
face turned an immediate shade of liver!
Brushing off his clothes, he tried to laugh it off. “Whoops, I just took a bit of a spill there. No worries, it
doesn’t hurt a bit!”
Sylvia struggled to maintain her composure, turning her head to admire the lawn out the patio doors.
Jonathan, on the other hand, was the picture of serenity, “For a second there, I thought this was part of
the Brennan family’s unique hospitality!”
This time, Sylvia couldn’t hold back any longer and burst out laughing, but then quickly covering her
mouth.
After her shower, as Estelle reached for her clothes, she spotted the medicine Lambert had given her
on the shelf, the transparent liquid housed within a light brown glass bottle.
Once again, Lambert’s persistent words echoed in her mind.

When she descended the stairs, dressed, she saw Jonathan and Sylvia sitting in the living room.
“Rella!” Sylvia greeted her with a smile, pretending it was the first time she had seen Estelle’s true face.
“You’re just as stunning as I imagined!”
Estelle nodded slightly, “Mr. Alvis, Ms. Beverly!”
Lambert said warmly, “Mr. Alvis has invited me to discuss a partnership with Raiden. You should come
along!”
“No hurry!”
“Take it easy!”
The responses from Sylvia and Jonathan were almost simultaneous. Sylvia glanced at Jonathan,
quickly adding, “Let Rella have breakfast first. We can head out afterward.”
Lambert chimed in, “Then I’ll join you for breakfast!”
Estelle, avoiding Jonathan’s gaze, replied coldly, “There’s no need for that; you keep Mr. Alvis
company. I’ll eat by myself.”
“Eat plenty then!” Lambert stood in front of her and suddenly crouched down to untangle a loose tassel
from her dress that had wrapped around her shoe.
Estelle instinctively looked at Jonathan, noticing his eyes were cold as ice. She quickly withdrew her
foot, “I can do it myself!”
“It’s done!” Lambert said, his deep brown eyes gentle as water. “Go and have your breakfast.”
Estelle turned and walked towards the dining room.
As she ate, all three people in the living room watched her.
The housemaid had prepared chocolate ice cream, and as Estelle reached for it, Jonathan’s voice

Lambert looked puzzled at Jonathan, “Does Mr. Alvis also study dietary habits?”
Sylvia spoke softly, “I have a sensitive stomach, so Mr. Alvis tends to pay more attention to these
things.”
“That makes Mr. Alvis a thoughtful and indulgent partner!” Lambert looked at Alvis. “Perhaps that’s a
topic where we could exchange notes in the future.”
Jonathan’s gaze was frosty as he replied, “No. I pamper only one woman, unlike Mr. Brennan, who
caters to the masses.”
Lambert choked on his words, “Well, being your girlfriend must truly be blissful. “
Jonathan’s eyes flicked to Estelle, “I hope she feels the same!”
She?
Lambert raised an eyebrow slightly. Could it be that Ms. Beverly wasn’t Alvis’s girlfriend, just a
companion he brought along temporarily?
There was something odd Lambert couldn’t quite place.
