Chapter 323

Two hours ago, they were having a meeting in the conference room. Jonathan took a call and stepped

out leaving him to chair the meeting, saying he’d be back soon. But Jonathan never came back until

the meeting was over.

Kally said, “He came back, like an hour ago, but he looked super pissed off.”

It was rare for Jonathan to get angry. Kally remembered the last time he was in a bad mood, he was

cranky for a few days. This time, it seemed even worse.

“What happened?” Chuck asked, puzzled. He was fine during the meeting.

Kally shook her head, “No idea, he was like that when he came back.”

Chuck frowned and walked away.

Until the afternoon, Jonathan hadn’t left his office. Sabina came with some documents and asked Kally,

“Did Mr. Lamont have lunch?”

Kally replied, “No, I wanted to order lunch for Mr. Lamont at noon, but he said he didn’t need it.”

Sabina glanced around before knocking on the door.

“Come in!” The man’s voice was obviously cold.

Sabina concealed her concern, pushed open the door, and softly informed, “Mr. Lamont, these

documents require your signature. The video conference with the overseas department is scheduled

for 2 PM, and all the materials are prepared.”

“Let Chuck handle it!” The man sat behind his desk, his attention fixed on the documents, his

expression cold.

Sabina hesitated briefly before speaking, “Alright, President Dalton from Starlight Corporation has a 4

PM appointment with you.”

“Cancel it,” the man replied bluntly.

Sabina paused, lowering her voice even further. “Mr. Lamont, Kally mentioned that you haven’t had

lunch. Would you like me to order something for you?”

Jonathan looked up, his gaze deep. “Is there anything else?”

Sabina involuntarily shook her head.

“Leave!”

Sabina met the man’s icy and fierce stare, sending shivers down her spine. Without hesitation, she

swiftly responded, turned around, and exited the room.

Jonathan looked back down at the report, feeling angry but not knowing where to vent.

Jonathan stared blankly at the report, his thoughts consumed by Estelle’s visage. Despite his anger, he

remained silent, choosing not to offer an explanation and simply sitting there wordlessly. If she truly

cared about him, even a little bit, she would have provided an explanation! Inhaling deeply, Jonathan

closed his eyes and swiped his hand forcefully, causing a stack of reports

to scatter and taunt him with their fluttering pages.

Charlie attempted to arrange a conversation with Jonathan on multiple occasions, but each time his

requests were declined. Charlie sensed that something was amiss.

In his search to answers, Charlie reached out to Emily and Inquired whether Estelle had returned to

J City.

Emily told him that Estelle hadn’t come back.

Thinking it was because Estelle wasn’t around that led to Jonathan’s bad mood, Charlie didn’t give it

much thought.

A few days later, Xavier’s other injuries were almost healed, except for his leg. Estelle left after paying

for his hospital stay and returned to the Royal Mansion.

It was already evening when she returned. The room was dark, and when she turned on the lights,

everything looked the same as when she left, yet something seemed to have changed.

She made herself some pasta, then went to take a bath and do laundry.

As Estelle finally came to a halt, it was already 10 PM. Typically, she would have been fast asleep at

this hour. However, tonight sleep eluded her, and instead, she retrieved a book she had yet to finish

and made her way to the balcony.

The night air was cool, and the soft glow of the floor lamp cast a dim light. Nestled on the sofa, Estelle

curled up, her gaze fixed upon the starless night sky, a sense of emptiness engulfing her from within.

She remained there until dawn, barely flipping through the pages of her book. Tears streamed down

her face as she clutched her knees, burying her face in her arms, consumed by a profound sorrow.
