Chapter 189
Chapter 189
An hour later, at Jadeford Hospital, Lily rushed Hazel to the emergency room, where the doctor conducted a
general examination.
"There's nothing serious. She might catch a cold and run a fever as she recovers, but a little medicine will take
care of it."
On the way to the hospital, the driver turned the heater up full blast. Harel started to feel a little better, sneezing
and sniffling one after another. Her pale and ashen face began to show a hint of color. Lily thanked the doctor,
got smedicine for Hazel, and left the hospital with her. At the hospital entrance, she hailed another taxi.
"To Bayview Gardens," she instructed.
Upon hearing what Lily said, Hazel immediately grabbed her. "Bayview Gardens? Aren't we going back to
Xavier's place?"
The driver stopped the car. "Where exactly are we going?

"To Bayview Gardens," Lily said without hesitation, then turned to Hazel. "I've moved out of his place."
"Why did you move out?" Hazel angrily pinched her arm. "Did he kick you out? You shouldn't have left. After all,
you were married..."
Hazel's constant stream of words made the driver keep glancing at them in the rearview mirror.
Lily's face darkened. "If you keep talking like this, I'll send you back to Dad's place."
"No!" Hazel immediately released her arm. "I'll go with you."
Finally, it quieted down, and Lily turned her gaze to the window. The winter night in Jadeford looked beautiful,
with vibrant neon lights reflecting across the city.
The taxi stopped at the entrance of Bayview Gardens. She paid the fare and got out.
Hazel, who had gotten out earlier, was looking at the small complex, bundled up in her down jacket. "When did
you buy a place here?"
"I'm renting," Lily replied, handing her the down jacket as the cold wind wrapped around her. "Let's get inside
quickly."
"Renting?" As they walked, Hazel caught up, asking, "How much money do you have? After marrying Xavier for
two years, you couldn't afford to buy a house?"
Lily walked faster, lowering her head and pulling her neck into her turtleneck sweater, though she still shivered
from the cold. She just wanted to get house and didnt have the energy to answer Hazel's questions. However,
Hazel persisted. "Or do you have money but just didn't buy a house? Is the money in your name?
"If y re getting divorced, you should think about your assets. Otherwise, why not transfer sto my name? At
least you could get more from Xavier...
"l only have 150 thousand."
Once inside the building, it was much warmer. Lily pressed the elevator button and answered her question. "I
don't even have a car."
The elevator doors opened, and she stepped in first. Hazel snapped out of it and followed quickly.

Inside the elevator, it was just the two of them, and Lily couldn't escape Hazel's barrage of blunt questions.
"Why did you d divorce Xavier? Why didn't you plan for yourself if you were going to divorce? Didn't you transfer
any of his assets out before?"
Lily looked at the numbers ticking up on the elevator display. "What happened with you and Dad? If it's not
serious, just apologize, and I'll send you back tomorrow.
Hazel shot her a look. "It's because of you. You wouldn't listen, and now you've draggedinto this!"
Lily didn't know how to respond. Back at the apartment, she immediately boiled swater and made some
peppermint tea. She needed to warm herself up too, or she couldn't get through it. Hazel removed her down
jacket and, wearing an expensive crystal fleece nightgown, began to look around the small apartinent.
Her face showed clear distaste as she sat down at the dining table.
"You've already been to the courthouse and are in the cooling-off period. Why exactly are you honest with me?"

If she had asked this calmly earlier, Lily would have told her. Lily set a cup of peppermint tea in front of Hazel,
then took a seat across from her "It was my decision. Xavier cheated on me
