Chapter 273

The reason he did not hesitate to turn down the job and prepare the cheque gift was that he wanted to take

another look at her.

The ctuise ship was in complete chaos. Security guards moved out in unison and placed dividers around the stage

to separate the paparazzi from them.

Hanson was escorted away by the security guards Lillian had sent over. Throughout the entire journey, his

expression was horrifyingly dark, as if there was a dark cloud hanging above his head.

After the commotion, Angeline had no other option but to end the fashion show early. She went to take care of the

models and send off the business partners.

Although things did not end well that day, Angeline managed to expand her network in the fashion industry.

She used Hanson to bring herself exposure while he was humiliated because of the fashion show.

However, even though Hanson was the one who brought it upon himself, Angeline still felt bad about it.

Then again, she was not exactly a nice person.

Once the crowd left the ctuise ship, Angeline could finally relax. She sipped on a glass of red wine while enjoying the

sea breeze.

“Roger, didn't I make myself clear enough? Stop bothering me.” Nancy's growl could be heard in the distance right

then.

That caused Angeline to snap out of her thoughts. She lifted her head and glanced downstairs, only to find Nancy

strolling on the beach barefooted, dressed in a long, red dress and holding a pair of high heels.

Roger was following closely behind her, attempting to grab her arm. “Nancy, calm down. I know you're only saying

that out of anger. I—”

“Enough.” Nancy shrugged his hand off, turned around, and glared at him. “We're all adults. Besides, you're more

of a player than I am and have slept with countless women. Why should I be with you?”

Roger's expression darkened as he stood frozen to his spot and allowed Nancy to reprimand him however she

wanted.

“You've never taken me seriously in the first place, have you?” he asked.

Nancy fell silent for a few seconds before she scoffed, “Duh! What do you think? It's not like you're any different.

You treat women like clothes.”

“Very well, Nancy.” Roger looked up and when he saw the fury in her eyes, he chuckled in exasperation. “I've never

thought of anyone else ever since I met you. You've really given me a valuable lesson. Fine. I swear I'll never appear

in front of you ever again!”

As he spoke, he raised his voice.

Nancy trembled in anger, but there was no change in her expression. In fact, her tone was icy cold when she said,

“Great.”

Roger's hands resting by his sides were curled into tight fists, and his eyes were burning with rage. He walked away

without saying anything.

Nancy stared at his back for some time before her body suddenly swayed. Just as she was massaging her temples,

she collapsed to the ground.

Angeline paled at what she saw.

Shoot. She's having a relapse.

Angeline hurriedly tossed her wine glass aside, lushed toward Nancy, and helped her up from the sand.

Angeline held Nancy in her amis. She realized the latter's body was curled up and trembling violently.

“Nancy, wake up.” She patted Nancy's face. “Do you have your medicines in your bag? Don't scare me like this.”

Nancy held Angeline's ami tightly with her cold hands. Although she seemed to be in tremendous pain, she still

managed a slight nod.

Angeline instantly understood what Nancy meant. Immediately, she opened Nancy's bag, took out a tiny case of

pills, and stuffed a few into the latter's mouth.

After taking the pills, Nancy gradually calmed down, and her dull eyes regained focus again.

“How are you feeling now?” asked Angeline as she helped Nancy to sit up and mb her back. Her eyes were

brimming with worry.

“Wait here for me. I'll get the car and send you to the hospital.”

With that, Angeline got to her feet.

Before she could take a few steps, Nancy grabbed her ami. “It's fine. I'm feeling much better. I don't want to go to

the hospital.”

“Nancy...”

Angeline was terribly worried.

However, Nancy looked much calmer than before. Despite her pale complexion, she still managed a smile. “You

know me. I've been to all sorts of hospitals for so many years, and every doctor says the same thing. I've long given

up on hope.”

She got up from the sand and stood facing the breeze that made her chestnut-brown hair flutter. A look of relief

spread across her face.

“I know I can never be cured, and as time passes, my memory will gradually deteriorate until I have an IQ of a

three-year-old child. I'd rather explore this world before I forget everything instead of wasting my time getting

treated.”

As she said that, her eyes reddened, and she began to choke up.

Angeline's heart wrenched when she heard her friend's words.

They had been friends for many years, and she was well aware of Nancy's condition.

Sadly, there was nothing Angeline could do apart from feeling bad.

She walked over and hugged Nancy's frail body from the back. “I also know you love Roger, but you don't dare to

show it. You must be having a hard time, too, hull?”

Nancy's body shuddered at the mention of Roger's name, and the brave front she had been showing crumbled

immediately.

“Don't tell him about this,” said Nancy, with panic in her voice. She quickly held Angeline's hand. “It's actually better

that he misunderstands me. At least I never showed him my embarrassing side.”

Angeline advised her gently, “Nancy, you don't have to be strong all the time... I used to think Roger was unreliable,

but I noticed a change in him when you two were together He truly loves you and—”

“Please stop...” Nancy cut her off. Her lips were pale. “My condition won't allow me to love someone, nor do I intend

to show my feelings to anyone.”

Not knowing what to say, Angeline could only stay quiet.

“I've already decided, so don't bother giving me advice. Even if Roger has feelings for me, that's only a momentary

impulse.”

Nancy's tone was firm. Clearly, she had already seen through the situation and did not plan on fighting for anything.

Angeline sighed heavily and hugged Nancy again. “Okay. You have my support no matter what decision you make.”

Most importantly, she could not change Nancy's mind.

Although Nancy was a cheerful person, deep down, she was fragile and stubborn because of her illness.

Even so, Nancy had already made a decision. That meant that Angeline had no right to interfere with anything.

Well, I guess we can only let nature take its course.
