Chapter 81 Chapter 81 Summer Frost POV "Theard you are getting discharged tomorrow. Your engagement is in two days. Get srest today. You are going for dress picking and fitting tomorrow. I have informed Hunter about it. He will pick you up' My heart wrenched painfully and tears welled up in my eyes when I read the text had sent to me. I knew there was no point talking him out of it. This was his final decision, and not that there was anything I could do about it, anyway.

The sound of the door opening drew my attention, so I quickly wiped my tears and looked in the direction to find Chloe.

"Ma'am, everything is ready now. The doctor has giventhe discharge papers, and Mr. Xander has paid up the hospital bill before he left," She explained to me, and I slowly nodded.

"Are you ok, ma'am? Are you crying?" She hurried over to sit in front ofon the bed, but I just held my head low and cried. I wanted to hold back my tears and hide the pain, but I could not. It was eatingup.

"Why are you crying, ma'am? Is everything alright? Are you feeling pain anywhere? Do you needto get the doctor?" She held my hand worriedly.

"I will go get the doctor," She stood up to leave, but I held her hand and pulled her back to sit.

"What should I do, Chloe?" I finally looked at her, and she returned the gaze confusingly.

"What do I do?" Again, I dropped my head and buried my face in my palms.

“Talk to me, ma'am, Is there anything I can help with? You can always talk to me, you know?" She persuaded me, but sadly, talking to her could not even helpin this situation. Dad had already made up his mind, and I'll only be deceiving myself if I think there was anything I could do. At least not when still want to save my career.

"I'll be fine..." I forced a smile.

"Ma'am "You don't have to worry about me. Con, pack up and let's leave," I wiped.my tears with the back of my palm as I got off the bed.

"Hmm. I got you sclothes to change into," She walked over to the sofa and broughtthe dress she brought for me.

"Thank you," "Go change while I pack up here," He patted my back gently, and went ahead to pack while I left to go get changed.

"What about Miguel? Is he coming to pick us up?" I went back to her, fully dressed.

think he has something to take care of, so I will just order a ride for us. I think that'll be safer than taking a public transport," She suggested once she was done packing, and I nodded.

Xander had rushed off earlier after he got a call which he toldnot to worry about, but I could not help myself "Please get my phone from the bed," I threw myself on the sofa tiredly.

"Here," She handedthe phone once she got it, and I went ahead to dial Xander's number. I had tried to reach him several times before now, but could not which goteven more worried. Just like the other time, his number was unreachable.

12:52 Tue, 18 JunUG Chapter 81 "Is it Mr. Xander?" Chloe looked atsuspiciously, and I nodded shyly. How did she know that? Did she read my mind? 34% "I think he will call you soon. I will order the ride now," She grabbed her phone from besideon the sofa, pressed it for a couple of minutes before she took her attention to me.

"The ride will be here soon," "Thank you," We were still waiting for the ride when a knock con the door, and I looked up to see Hunter standing outside.

"Why is he here?" I muttered and sighed frustratingly.

He pushed the door open and walked inside without waiting forto usher him in. Not that he needed that, anyway.

"I thought you would have something to deal with... Y Why are you here?" I stood up, unpleased by his presence.

"I cancelled my schedules," He smiled at me, and I sighed.

"You didn't have to-" "Miguel toldhe won't be able to show up, so I cin his stead," He cutoff "That's why there are public transports and Uber. We've ordered a ride. You don't have to bother," "Linsist," Hunter was a persistent young man whose mind was always hard to change, so I just gave in.

"Just cancel the ride, Chloe," I looked at Chloe and left the ward while they followed me.

"How are you feeling now? Hunter looked atthrough the rearview mirror on our way home.

"I'm fine," I replied to him casually and briefly, and I was glad it stopped at that.

After a ride that felt like it was going to last till eternity, he finally pulled over at the parking lot of my apartment, and I quickly alighted from the car.

Chloe left for the house with the things we brought from the hospital while I trailed behind her, and right after she walked inside, Hunter called my attention.

"Our engagement is in two days. Has your Dad told you about it?" I stopped walking and took a deep breath before turning to face him.

"Am I supposed to be happy about that?"

"You should get srest today. I'll cover and pick you up for dress picking and fitting tomorrow by 11am, Though he tried to hide it, I wasn't such a big fool not to notice the excitement on his face. "Thanks for the ride," I turned and walked inside the house, slamming the door hard on his face.

"Preparea warm bath, Chloe," I threw myself on the couch as soon as I walked inside the living room. "Alright, ma'am. I will get to it," She left for my room.

Shortly after Chloe left, my phone started to ring, and I quickly took the call upon seeing it was Xander. 12:52 Tue, 18 Jun Chapter 81 "Where have you kept your phone ever since? I've been trying to reach you," I ranted as soon as I answered the call, unable to hide the fact that I was worried about him and has also missed him.

"I'm sorry about that. I was attending to something over here, so I didn't have tfor my phone. I should've called you earlier. How are you feeling now?" "I'm not fine," I wanted to tell him that, but I just sighed and shrugged.

"I'm fine." up from the hospital. I'll csee you as soon as possible, ok? You should get srest, and make sure you Im sorry I could not cover to pick you u sleep well,"

"I will call you before I sleep. I got to go now," I didn't want the call to end as hearing his voice was the only therapy that madefeel better at the moment, but sadly, we could not keep talking. Tears poured down my cheeks after the call ended. My nightmare was finally going to ctrue, and there was nothing I could do about it.

My phone beeped, and I checked to see a text from Dad.

"Tenjoyed every moment spent with you these last few days, and I'm soon.

looking forward to spending more twith you. Get well soon. I don't have the right to say this yet, but I can't hold it back. I love you, Summer. I love you with everything in me, and I hope things get better for us from now on” Reading the text brought a smile to my face, but my excitement faded when I remembered that I would belong to someone else in two days....
