The phone suddenly buzzed with a message from Jayden.
"Mark is part of the Hidden family!" Tina raised an eyebrow. "Keep digging. Don't miss a single clue." "Ding!" Another notification cin, and as Tina marveled at Jayden's efficiency, her phone suddenly exploded with nearly a hundred messages. Whatwas flooded with red notification bubbles. Text messages followed in a steady stream.
Albert Sitwell, Hendrik Stiller, Shonna Woodham...
Just seeing these familiar names gave Tina the feeling of being back at Ensford High School, managing her homeroom class.
Rubbing her temples in exasperation, she sighed. These kids were persistent.
The string of numbers on the board from back then-they still remembered.
Tflies. Now they should be in their sophomore year of college.
Tina paused what she was doing and began replying to each of them, one by one.
No matter how the Whatavatars blinked or flashed, she first responded to the earnest blessings sent by her students to her and Uncle.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAfter finishing those replies, Tina finally opened WhatsApp.
The first avatar on the list was Paula's, accompanied by a long string of congratulatory emojis and messages. Though labeled as blessings, it was more like a venting session.
"Ugh, just looking at this invitation has givenred-eye syndrome. That idiot at my house still hasn't cto his senses. Will I ever wear a wedding dress in this lifetime? Boohoo!" "But don't worry, I'll definitely attend your wedding. Not just for Hayden, but for the sake of our revolutionary friendship." Tina chuckled, recalling something. She found an old voice recording from her pinned chats and forwarded it to Paula as a little gift in return.
Paula immediately replied with a "?" Tina didn't respond further. Sthings were better left for Paula to figure out on her own.
Scrolling down, she saw her brothers' complaints about receiving the wedding invitations late, despite having prepared gifts in advance. "Serena doesn't love us anymore!" Tina couldn't help but roll her eyes and skipped over their messages.
Juliet chimed in with, "Congratulations! Don't worry, even if I'm filming abroad, I'll make it to the wedding." Griffin and Audrey followed suit with their congratulations, and Tina responded to each of them.
At the end of the list was Lysander's message, which was, as expected, over the top.
"Tina, can I ask... can I steal you away at the wedding?" Tina finally understood why his nwas at the bottom of the list.
Steal her away... at her wedding? She doubted he'd make it out alive if he tried.
She quickly replied with a simple, "No," and ignored the rest of his messages.
Just as she was about to put her phone down, Velma called her. At the stime, Paula called as well.
Both calls ended up competing, causing a "connection error" message to appear.
Velma: "??" Paula: "What the heck?" Tina knew exactly what they wanted. If she answered either of them, she wouldn't have peace for the next hour. Before they could launch into lengthy monologues, she replied to Velma with, "Busy," and to Paula with, "As you wish." The world finally quieted down.
All Tina wanted was to get married, not beca celebrity. Did these people think she was ssort of bride- to-be with nothing else to do? Looking at the endless stream of notifications on her phone, she had half a mind to turn it off entirely.
Before she could, another text message popped up from Jayden.
"Young Master, Poppy is awake." In the hospital room.
Poppy lay in bed, his small figure pale and fragile. When he saw Tina, his eyes lit up, but he couldn't help glancing behind her.
Realizing she had calone, he quietly looked away and murmured, "Tina, you're here." Tina walked over and sat beside him. Rarely, she explained, "I cin a hurry and didn't tell anyone. How are you feeling? Does anywhere still hurt?" Poppy's small, pale face frowned as he raised his hand, only to drop it again. "I... I can't explain it. It feels like everything hurts, but I can't point to where..." Tina checked his pulse before taking out a Healing Tablet and giving it to him. "Take this." Poppy obediently swallowed it.
Tina smiled. "You're brave. Aren't you afraid I'd poison you?" Poppy shook his head, his tone firm. "Tina wouldn't." For a moment, Tina understood why her mother had always felt a natural affection for Poppy.
Poppy hesitated, then looked at Tina with his big, pleading eyes. "Tina, can you tellabout Alina's wedding?" Tina paused, certain she hadn't misheard. "You want to hear about my mom's wedding?" "Alina said she'd inviteto her wedding, but then River did something bad to her, and Grandpa wouldn't letleave..." As Poppy spoke, his lips pressed tightly together, and the light in his eyes dimmed.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmTina sighed. "If you want, you can cto my wedding in a few days. My mom will be there too." Poppy's eyes sparkled. "Really? Tina, you're getting married too?" Tina blinked. What did he mean by "too"? Carefully, she asked, "Poppy, do you remember what happened before your accident?"
Poppy glanced at her, his small hands twisting nervously. "Tina, know everything: ljust really wanted to see Alina, so I followed River outside..." His voice trailed off, and his small body trembled as if recalling something terrifying.
Tina frowned and gently took his hand, her voice calm and soothing. "Poppy, don't be afraid. She won't hurt you again." Poppy took a shaky breath and looked at her with complete trust.
Tina didn't press further. Instead, she asked, "Poppy, do you want to return to the Swanson family?" Poppy hesitated, biting his lip. "Tina, are you worried it's dangerous if I go back?" "But I'm not scared." "Why not?" Tina narrowed her eyes.
Poppy clenched his fists, as if trying to muster courage. "Grandpa will protect me. They wouldn't dare!" Tina smiled faintly.
If someone in the Swanson family could protect Poppy, there was no need to keep him hidden in the hospital. Still, to be cautious, she handed him a small device.
"I promised someone I'd protect you. To make sure you're safe, keep this with you. If you're ever in danger, press the button, and I'll know. Got it?" Poppy clutched the locator tightly and nodded.
As Tina prepared to leave, Poppy called after her. "Tina, make sure to inviteto your wedding. Don't forgetlike Alina did." Tina smirked and turned back to nod at him.
The moment she stepped out of the room, she pulled out her phone and sent a message: "Poppy is awake." In the following days, the Pace family was in full wedding-preparation mode, as if gearing up for battle.
Every spot that could be decorated was draped in red.
Even the green plants at the entrance weren't spared.
It was more extravagant than New Year's.
