Chapter 190 Unforgivable!

Seeing Erin burst out in profanity, Paulo burst into laughter in response. “Oh, so you know how to

swear too? I thought you were just waiting to starve yourself to death-”

Erin didn’t pay attention to what Paulo said, she was still in a state of immense confusion. In the next

moment, she let out a torrent of complaints in the form of questions at the absurdity of the situation.

“Has my dad lost his mind? How could he marry Tracy? How old is he? And on top of that, he’s still

having children? Does he even know that Tracy was the shameless bi tch who ruined his daughter’s

marriage?”

After firing off all those questions consecutively, she looked at Paulo with doubt in her eyes.

Paulo stood up and chuckled lightly. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m not your dad! How would I know

what he’s thinking? It’s better for you to focus on your own treatment. When you go back, you can ask

him about it face to face.”

“What does this woman want? What is her ultimate goal?” Erin couldn’t understand what Tracy was

playing at this time.

“Erin, you’d better take care of yourself first. Let your dad handle his own affairs. Besides, you don’t

love your ex-husband anymore, so these messy matters have nothing to do with you.” Paulo stated

indifferently.

Erin was still a little agitated. “How is this not my concern? My dad married the homewrecker who

ruined my marriage, and they even gave birth to a son? Where does that leave me? Not only that, my

ex-husband married my twin sister! My ex-husband is now my brother-in-law! Is there any other family

in this world as ridiculous as ours?”

Huffing and puffing, Erin continued with her emotional outburst. “And a woman like Tracy! Can she

sincerely love my dad and treat him well? Absolutely not! No way! I won’t believe for a second that she

and my dad fell hopelessly in love with each other! Like, come on! How old is my father? Tracy used to

be involved with my ex-husband, lan, before turning to my dad. I don’t need to think twice to know that

she must have ulterior motives! Why else would she choose my dad out of so many men?”

From Erin’s eyes, it could be seen that she was enraged, but at the same time, it was mixed with deep

helplessness and heartache, leaving her unsure of how to face the change that had taken place in her

family.

Paulo smiled and applauded, his eyes twin kling. “Well said, you’ve analyzed it correctly. It’s gratifying

to see that you finally have a hint of liveliness. It wasn’t in vain for me to spend time, money, and effort

to gather that information for you.”

He couldn’t help but stroke his chin and affirm. “It seems that it’s adversity and enemies that can spark

your desire to live.”

Erin’s rationality started to return, and she felt embarrassed. “Why do you always keep saying that I’m

seeking death? Wouldn’t it be more direct if I opened the window and jumped from this height?”

“Well, that makes sense. So, what’s the reason behind you refusing food and drinks for three

consecutive days?” Paulo asked with a frown.

Erin’s eyes flickered, and she sighed deeply. “I felt too unsettled to eat anything. Ever since you told me

all that, I suddenly realized that I seem to be a person who isn’t needed. My younger sister Yvette has

come back. My parents must be very happy, and they will definitely find a way to make up for the years

of neglect toward her. She married lan, so I guess she must love him. She’s even pregnant, so my role

as an aunt is basically guaranteed. But, I’m not men tally prepared to face these changes.”

She gla nced at Paulo and said. “Until now, I’ve been grateful to fate for being merciful toward me,

despite the misfortunes I’ve endured. But I still appreciate that fate has brought my son back to his

father’s side. Chandler has everything, so he can provide my son with a very privileged life. I don’t have

to worry about my son suffering in any way. But my feelings for Chandler are no longer the same as

before. It’s not because I mind that he was married to Jazzlyn. It’s just that I can’t forgive his malicious

deception!”

Then, she continued. “He never respected our relationship, nor did he respect me. Why didn’t he at

least try to tell me that he married. Jazzlyn only for the sake of his grandfather? People change. I

backed down and acquiesced to have a child out of wedlock without being married to him. Why did he

not explain his predicament to me? I might have agreed to his fake marriage.”

Disappointment and sadness filled Erin’s eyes as she smiled mockingly at herself. “In the end, he

simply doesn’t trust me. He doesn’t believe that I would change my principles for him. But love makes

people willingly compromise. I truly loved him. If he’d discussed it with me beforehand, I would have

patiently waited for him to sort out the situation with his family. I would have waited for him, even if it

meant we could only get married a few years later.”

Shaking her head, Erin went on, “But he didn’t come clean with me. He chose to lie to me, not

considering the possibility of hurting me once I found out the truth. He knew I would be sad and angry,

yet he still did it. He doesn’t truly care about me. If someone were to tell me that it was for my own

good, that would be a white lie, and I would tell them off! As long as it wasn’t something that was

happening to

them, those outsiders wouldn’t understand the full gravity of the situation. They would even scoff and

think that I’m being overdramatic. How could those outsiders possibly empathize with me?” 1

Erin’s words left Paulo stunned. He thought she’d been giving up on living for the past three days, but it

turned out she had been reflecting

all along.

“So, what do you plan to do? Don’t you want to see Chandler anymore? Don’t you want to talk things

through with him in person?” Paulo

sat back in his chair.

His words made Erin laugh lightly; her laughter ethereal with a chilling undertone.

“Are you joking? Can’t you see how I look now? If I go see him now, what would I get from him? Pity

and sympathy? And then he would be forced to accept me out of guilt? Although I wish I could start my

life over, there’s no chance of that. Once some things happen, there’s no

turning back. Besides being forced to accept what has come to pass, what other choice do I have?”

Erin lowered her gaze, hiding the tears that have welled up in her eyes. “Even if Chandler used to love

everything about me, I’m not the

same person as before now. No matter how much he might still love me, he definitely won’t accept the

fact that I’m disfigured. Can love still be love when it loses its original form? If the same happened to

him instead, and if his face became completely different from what it used to be, even I can’t be sure if

I’ll fall for him all over again.

She sighed and said, “Human hearts are complex. I’m not a noble person, nor am I perfect. So, if he

can’t accept me as I am now, I won’t blame him. Most people would be unable to accept this too. I don’t

have the right to demand that he must love me consistently.”

Tears dripped onto Erin’s light blue hospital gown as she suppressed her pain and pretended to speak

casually. “With my current appearance, even walking poses a problem. Taking a hot bath has become

a luxury. How can I take care of my son? Hahaha! It’s so funny. If my son saw the extensive burns on

my chest when I breastfeed him, I wonder if he would be repulsed by it?”

Her unfiltered mocking was piercing to Paulo. His face turned cold as he said, “Erin, stop ridiculing

yourself like this. It won’t do you any good. I’ve said that I’ll heal your physical burns. Two years may

sound lengthy, but as long as you endure it, everything will get better.”

“Mr. Eastwood, sir-”

Paulo interrupted her, “Just call me Paulo in the future.”

Erin nodded and immediately changed her way of addressing him. “Ok, Paulo. You haven’t told me

how long it will take for my face to fully recover.”

Her question made his heart sink inexplicably.

He lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, and said. “Erin, I don’t want to give you false hope. The

recovery of your face depends on the later stages. If the recovery goes well, we can arrange for plastic

surgery as soon as possible. However, plastic surgery may not be successful in one attempt. If things

go smoothly, it could take two to three years. If it doesn’t go smoothly. Well, it may take five to six

years.”
