When she heard Madeline asking her this, Ava felt as if her heartstrings had been tugged by something abruptly.
“Maddie, why are you asking that?” Ava was so nervous that she even stuttered a little when she spoke. As she
asked, she took out her phone. “I talked with Danny last night. Maddie, look."
She handed the phone to Madeline nervously.
“He was fine when he was talking to me last night. How could something have happened today?”
Madeline hurriedly calmed Ava's emotions. "Ava, don't be nervous. Let me take a look first."
Madeline took the phone and saw the messages Daniel sent Ava last night.
"Ava, you didn't talk on the phone with him, did
you?”

talked to each other last night!”
Ava got her phone back and called Daniel right away.
However, he did not pick up.
Ava called two more times in a row, but still, no one answered. However, after a minute, she got a message.
Daniel: [Ava, I'm busy right now. I'll reply to you later.
This message was sent in Daniel's name but clearly, this was not Daniel's reply.
"Ava, just reply and say okay,” Madeline asked Ava to reply.
Ava was in a mess at the moment. She texted back according to Madeline's order, and the other party did not reply
anymore.
Ava did not understand what was going on right now. She followed Madeline to the office. As soon as she entered
the door, she saw Jeremy talking to someone on the phone. Jeremy's expression looked unusually cold.
Jeremy and Madeline looked at each other. After a while, Jeremy hung up the phone.
"Jeremy, how is it? Any news from Dan?”
Jeremy shook his head slightly. "I've asked Ken to follow up."
“Maddie, Jeremy, can you tell me what exactly happened?"
