Chapter 2019
"But I don't regret it." Keegan looked up at her with a loving gaze. "If I didn't let go of myself that day,
perhaps neither of US would be alive, let alone having them."
He placed his hand gently on her belly. "One for three, it's worth it."
Stella was upset. "What's worth it? Do you still expect me to give birth to your babies when you're
dead? Impossible! If you don't come back, I'll find another man immediately and show him off to you on
your grave. You may be a hero, but you're still going to need someone else to take care of your wife."
Keegan could not help but smile at her complaints. "I must have heard your 'ungrateful' whines and
couldn't bring myself to leave, so I came back."
Stella hugged him tightly and whispered, "I'll pack a lunchbox for you tomorrow. You got so much
thinner after the incident. You're not as huggable anymore."
Keegan frowned. "How can I let you cook for me while you're pregnant? Do you think Trevor would let

Stella burst out laughing and said, "Serves you right for what you did to him last time.
"Oh, by the way, did you manage to get anything out of Jaylene after hypnotizing her?"
Keegan nodded, "She wasn't the one who pulled me out of the water, someone else did. They took me
to a clinic and left her number." "So, Jaylene was lying when she said she rescued you from the
shore?" "Yeah. I was about to drown when someone grabbed me. Although I couldn't see clearly, I felt
that person's strength and it did not seem to be a woman."
To single-handedly pull an unconscious adult male out of the water required extraordinary physical
strength and excellent swimming skills.
Whoever saved him did not want him to die but instead left Jaylene's contact information. That person
also wanted him to stay with Jaylene, giving her a chance to hypnotize him and erase his memory.
Clearly, that person did not want Keegan to return so soon. 1 'If I got hypnotized even more and
believed in those illusions, would I still be with Stella?' Keegan pondered to himself.
Someone wanted him to live but drift away from the person he loved.
A name kept circling in his mind.
The accident back then happened because Albert messed with the car. Rainee and Stella were
innocent. So, Keegan thought the person might not necessarily be after Stella.
Now, seeing that Stella had been safe all along, Keegan wondered if that person was only targeting
him.
Stella asked softly, "What's on your mind?"
Keegan snapped out of his thoughts and shook his head. "Nothing. Why don't you have Ms. Thompson
accompany you to see Ms. Warren? Discuss compensation for the two injured cleaners and invite
some reporters over to stir things up a little."
Stella hesitated, "If this matter goes public, Dahlia's reputation will be tarnished. Are you sure you want
to do that?"
Keegan replied nonchalantly, "You don't understand her. She can rise again anytime as long as she

Stella totally agreed with what Keegan mentioned. After a bit of thinking, she said, "Your mom always
goes to Chandler when things happen, and he's always ready to help. What's his deal? At work, he's
against you, but then he helps your mom."
Keegan paused without uttering a word.
Stella was surprised. 'Keegan's reaction is kind of weird.'
She whispered, "Could it be that he likes your mom?"
Keegan's face tightened for a moment, and he stayed quiet.
Stella sensed that something was off from Keegan's reaction. Knowing he didn't enjoy discussing his
elders, especially when it involved his mom, she chose not to press.
Yet, after a brief silence, Keegan opened up, "Before she married my dad, she was in a relationship
with Chandler." 1
