Chapter 256 A Cold World

“Jack Davis!” It was him!

Ivan called out the name angrily. He thought it would benefit them that Jack went abroad and could not

be contacted. Unexpectedly, Jack had colluded with Smith Group long ago and sold all their evidence

to them.

D*mn it. D*mn it!

“Tansy Group has treated him so well, yet he betrayed us. He’s really ungrateful.‘

David pushed his glasses and said coldly, “Smith Group must have given him a lot of benefits, so he

betrayed us. But it’s not the time to talk about this. President Smith, Mr. Ivan. We have to return to the

company as

soon as possible and figure it out sooner.”

Clare and Ivan looked at each other and nodded.

“Yes. Tell all the employees not to panic and believe that news, and keep working. Make sure to

stabilize the company.”

They were about to leave when suddenly the manager rushed over, “The police are coming.”

Clare froze. They didn’t expect the police to come so quickly!

Ivan panicked and held Clare’s arm tightly, “Dad, what should we do now!”

“Don’t worry!” Although Clare was feared, he had to stay calm. He patted Ivan on the shoulder and

looked at

David with a severe face.

“The police will take Ivan and me away. Please help us to sort things out.”

Clare had helped David, so he was sure David would not betray him.

Sure enough, David nodded solemnly, “President Smith, Mr. Ivan. Don’t worry. I will help you come

back

safe.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the policeman walked into the room, “Clare Smith, Ivan Smith.

Someone reported that Tansy Group had evaded 14 million dollars in taxes. Come with us.”

Clare and Ivan did not refute and obediently followed the police into the police car.

It was a bustling area where many people were around. Someone took a picture of Ivan and Clare

getting into the police car and posted it on the Internet.

The news of the tax evasion was confirmed with the police’s presence.

Tansy Group saw a dramatic fall in its reputation. Its stock price dropped a lot in just a few minutes. If

they

couldn’t survive this time, Tansy Group would be completely done.

David asked the people from the public relations department to return to the company to work overtime.

They didn’t dare to complain. It was true that they were loose about what had happened. They didn’t

work in publicity immediately. As a result, it worsened, and they couldn’t compensate for the loss.

After the people from the public relations department left, David drove to Ivan’s residence by himself.

The evidence of tax evasion was solid. Clare and Ivan could come out if the tax was paid up.

Otherwise, they were likely to be sentenced.

Fortunately, Ivan had made preparations to transfer all the property to Hulda. Otherwise, all the

property under his name would be seized.

When David arrived at Ivan’s residence, the lights in the villa were still on. He was anxious and rushed

in.

Hulda was sitting on the couch in the living room, drinking coffee. She stood up quickly when she saw

David rushing in, “What’s the matter? What happened?”

“Hul… Oh, no. Mrs. Smith!” David quickly changed the address and said, “Mr. Ivan was in big trouble.

He was taken to the police station with President Smith. We need to pay more than 14 million dollars in

taxes. Please take the money and follow me to get them out.”

Hulda was stunned for a moment, then her face turned serious, and she held David back, “No!”

David looked at her coldly, “Mrs. Smith? What do you mean? Mr. Ivan transferred all his property to

your name. Will you let him die and run away with the property?”

With a chill in his eyes, David thought, “Mr. Ivan misjudged her. She’s as greedy and vain as before.

She pretended to like Mr. Ivan!”

David sneered. “Did she think she could run away with the property if Mr. Ivan goes to jail?” thought he.

He and Ivan had been prepared for this. Even if Mr. Ivan was in jail, Hulda could not take away the

property if

she betrayed him. She would need David’s signature to take out the property. Otherwise, everything

would be

in vain.

After hearing what David said, Hulda felt wronged and sad, “What are you talking about? How could I

betray

Ivan? Ivan did transfer his properties to my name, but I can’t take out more than 14 million

immediately!”

“What!” David was stunned. How could Tansy Group not have 14 million? Hulda must be lying.

“It’s true!” Seeing he didn’t believe her, Hulda felt even more aggrieved.

David didn’t think Hulda lied. He realized he had missed a critical problem. Before Tansy Group’s

accident,

Ivan discovered Cynthia had cut off several Smith Group’s projects and used all money on other

projects. Therefore, they didn’t even have seven million, not to mention 14 million.

David was dumbfounded. After reflecting on everything, he realized that Cynthia had started to deploy

against Tansy Group and Ivan from the very beginning.

“What should we do? President Smith and Mr. Ivan were taken away by the police. They can only get

away if

we pay all the taxes. Otherwise, they will be sentenced to at least ten years!”

David covered his face, not knowing how to get the money.

Something subtle flashed into Hulda’s eyes, and she pretended to be anxious and sad and said, “We

have no

choice. I can only sell the houses Ivan transferred to my name. Maybe we can get 14 million, and…”

As she spoke, she took out a bag from a corner and showed it to David, “This is all the jewelry that Ivan

gave me. I still have a few bags and some high–end clothes. You can sell them all for the emergency to

get President Smith and Ivan out.”

police took Ivan and President Smith away.”

She showed the bag in her hand, “Because I was too flustered and didn’t know what to do, I packed

everything in advance. Hope they’ll be helpful.”

David felt warm but still a little worried. He reminded again, “You’ll have nothing if you sell them all. No

houses and cars…”

“It’s okay!” Hulda interrupted him directly, “It’s just things, and it’s nothing worth holding on to. I have

lived in a dilapidated house and led an ordinary life for many years. Besides, I do this for Ivan. As long

as he and President Smith come back, and we can keep Tansy Group, I will get them back sooner or

later. I believe in them.”

can take them back as long as President Smith and Mr. Ivan are here.”

After they finished speaking, they immediately held all jewelry, asked someone to pack all the valuable

Ivan didn’t trust Hulda before and didn’t buy her any valuable things, so Hulda’s things didn’t even sell

for

four hundred thousand.

The houses under Hulda’s name were also for sale. Because of the conflict between Ivan and Smith

Group and the rush to sell them, there were more watchers, but no one bought them, even though they

were sold at a reduced price.

Ivan “brother” rejected them.
