At that moment, Nan Zhengde and Feng Wan gave each other a clueless look.

If they aren't fighting, why does Ning Ran act as if she doesn't want to get married? Are the children covering for

“Erbao, do I always treat you well?” Feng Wan changed her approach the second time around.

“You do!” Erbao replied without hesitation.

Great-Grandma has always been great to me. She always gives me snacks that Mommy forbids me from eating.

“In that case, why aren't you telling me the truth?” Feng Wan finished with a frown on purpose, causing Erbao to be

slightly stunned.

But didn't I just tell her the truth?

She pouted as she replied, “Great-Grandma, can the truth only be that Daddy and Mommy are fighting? Children

aren't supposed to lie. Daddy and Mommy really aren't fighting!”

Feng Wan was left stumped after the question was thrown back at her.

I can't believe how sharp she is. She's certainly not one to be trifled with!

“It's no big deal. I was just casually asking.”

Left without a choice, Feng Wan resigned herself to believe that the two weren't at loggerheads.

Meanwhile, Dabao fell into deep thought before asking abruptly, “Great-Grandma, why do you think that Daddy and

Mommy aren't on good terms?”

Nan Zhengde and his wife exchanged shocked glances with each other.

When Feng Wan gestured for Nan Zhengde to answer, the latter pretended to be reading a book.

Dabao's thoughtful silence made it clear that he didn't believe her at all.

“Nothing. Your great-grandma is just feeling the sudden urge to become a matchmaker.”

Realizing that his answer didn't seem appropriate, Nan Zhengde clarified, “Wait, that doesn't sound right as both of

them are already together.”

Nevertheless, Dabao quickly realized what Nan Zhengde was trying to say. “Does she want Daddy and Mommy to

get married?”

Feng Wan replied at once, “Yes, yes, that's exactly what your great-grandpa meant. However, your mommy doesn't

seem to be interested. That's why we were wondering if they were fighting.”

Dabao fell into deep thought before offering, “Let me talk to her about it.”

Nan Zhengde and Feng Wan naturally loved the idea, as their genius great-grandson was capable of dealing with

anything.

Upon returning home, Ning Ran was surprised when Dabao and Erbao led her to the couch for a chat.

What's going on? Why do they look so serious?

Dabao poured his mother a glass of water. “Calm down, Mommy. We're not trying to put you on the spot.”

Ning Ran didn't know what to say.

You make it sound like I'm afraid of that happening.

In spite of that, Ning Ran couldn't help but feel anxious still, for it was rare for Dabao and Erbao to speak so

seriously to her, and she had no clue as to what was going on.

Right then, Erbao gave Dabao a look to signal him to begin.

“Mommy, do you love us?” Dabao asked with a stern expression.

Ning Ran broke into a warm smile. “That goes without saying. You're my dearest darlings, and I love you more than

I love myself!”

“Mm-hmm. In that case, you'll be honest with us, am I right?” Erbao added.

She chose the simple questions and let her brother tackle the difficult ones.

“Of course. What do you want to know?” Ning Ran's anxiety began to grow.

“Do you like Daddy?” Dabao asked in a serious tone.

The question utterly shocked Ning Ran.

“What has gotten into the two of you? Where is this coming from?”

“Mommy, please answer truthfully.” Erbao gave her a serious look.

“Kind of...”

Despite Ning Ran's embarrassment, Dabao pressed on with his questions. “What does kind of mean? Do you like

him or not?”

“Come on. Why are you asking something like that? Is this question appropriate for children?” Ning Ran couldn't

stand it any longer.

“As members of the family, we have the right to know your current status with Daddy,” Dabao explained, to which

Erbao nodded in support.

Ning Ran's heart melted at their response. “Don't worry. Things are good between us.”

Why do I feel like I'm reporting my marriage situation to my parents? I'm clearly the parent here!

Looking relieved, Dabao and Erbao nodded in unison.

“This means you like Daddy, right?” Dabao probed further.

“What's with the strange questions? Can we just get to the point?”

While Ning Ran was beginning to feel awkward, Dabao and Erbao exchanged glances.

“Mommy, just answer the question!” Erbao insisted.

“I do!” Ning Ran replied decisively upon steeling herself.

Nan Chen is handsome and successful—who wouldn't like him?

Dabao and Erbao answered together, “We're relieved to hear that.”

“What are you relieved about?”

“Does Daddy like you then?” Dabao wasn't done yet.

It was a question that Ning Ran couldn't answer.

You guys should be asking him about it. Wouldn't I sound like I'm bragging if I were to say yes?

By then, Ning Ran could guess where the children were going with their questions.

It was now evident to her that Feng Wan had tried to divert her away from the children so that she could talk to

them about this.

Since Nan Zhengde and Feng Wan had suddenly raised the prospect of marriage to her, she figured that the

children must have discussed the same topic with their great-grandparents.

“I think he likes me,” Ning Ran answered with a grin, “but that's just a wild guess on my part.”

“Let me call Daddy now and ask him.” Dabao proceeded to pick up the phone.

This is getting out of hand!

Nonetheless, Ning Ran didn't stop him, as she, too, found it quite amusing.

Besides, it was night over at Nan Chen's end, and it was unlikely that he was in a meeting.

The call quickly connected. “Hello?”

“Daddy, it's me,” Dabao said.

Nan Chen's voice warmed significantly. “How are you, Dabao?”

“I'm fine. Daddy, I have an important question to ask you. Can you promise me that you'll answer honestly?”

Nan Chen was briefly shocked. “What is it?”

“Can you just promise to tell the truth?” Dabao repeated.

“I never lie.” Nan Chen gave him a concise reply.

“In that case, do you like Mommy?” Dabao inquired.

Ning Ran covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud.

However, her heart began to throb anxiously.

What if Poker Face says no? What am I going to do? Even if he were joking, I'd still feel disappointed!

“Why are you asking?” Nan Chen was curious.

“Just answer honestly. Do you like Mommy or not?”

“Did she put you up to this? Is she beside you now?”

Nan Chen assumed that it was a prank devised by Ning Ran.

“Daddy, why can't you answer the question? Do you not like her?” Dabao began to pile on the pressure.

“I do!” Nan Chen replied without reservation, putting Ning Ran's mind at ease, for her ego was finally fed by his

answer.
