Chapter 948 A Big Fuss
Nan Chen's voice also turned cold. “What's wrong with you? What are you up to?”
“Do you have something to say or not? If not, I'm hanging up!” Ning Ran said in a frustrated tone.
“I dare you!” Nan Chen said coldly.
Fury burned in Ning Ran's chest, and she hung up the phone directly.
Why wouldn't I dare to hang up on you? Do you think you're that great to have a first love?
Nan Chen called again, but this time Ning Ran refused to answer no matter what.
Serves you right for p*ssing me off!
After a while, her phone vibrated again. This time, it was a call from Cheng Xiangyun.
Ning Ran answered the call. “What's up, Cheng?”
“Mr. Chen called me just now and asked me what's wrong with you. I was flummoxed. What's going on between you
two?” Cheng Xiangyun asked.
“Why did he call you?”
“He asked me why you sounded upset and whether you were treated unfairly during the recording of the program.
I thought you didn't suffer any injustice. You just had a little argument with that contestant, and you fought back.
And in the end, you emerged as the winner. That can't be considered an injustice, right?”
Ning Ran casually replied, “Just ignore him. He's crazy!”
Cheng Xiangyun shouted, “You can ignore him, but he's our big boss. Even the president of Star Entertainment has
to listen to him. How can I, a mere artist manager, offend the big boss? You're telling me to ignore him. It's easy for
you to say!”
Ning Ran was getting impatient. “What do you want, then? Just tell him I'm fine.”
“I don't know what's going on with you over there. I just reported to Mr. Chen about the incident of you getting into
an argument during the recording.”
Ning Ran felt her head pounding. “Why did you do that? You said it was a trivial matter yourself, so why did you tell
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇthim? Are you out of your mind?”
Overcome with indignation, Cheng Xiangyun retorted, “You're the one who's out of your mind. What's going on
between you and Mr. Chen? Why did he call to ask me what's wrong with you?”
“All right, I'll talk to him myself. Goodbye.”
Ning Ran hung up the phone.
Just as she ended the call, the producer's phone started ringing. At first, he casually answered the phone, but then
his expression soon turned serious.
His gaze shifted toward Ning Ran, and he said, “There may be a misunderstanding regarding this matter. I assure
you, Mrs. Nan wasn't mistreated here. The contestant in question is just naive, and we will advise them accordingly.
Please relay this message to Mr. Nan. We will not let anyone bully Mrs. Nan. That's absolutely impossible... Oh, very
well, then. I will personally explain this to Mr. Nan. Thank you, Assistant Jiang.”
He stood up and continued, “Hello, Mr. Nan. I'm the producer of the show, Chen Yong. It's a pleasure to speak with
you...”
He proceeded to offer a detailed explanation, appearing quite anxious.
Finally, he handed the phone to Ning Ran and said, “Ms. Ding, it's Mr. Nan from Nanshi Corporation. He mentioned
that we mistreated you on the show and would like you to personally talk to him. We will handle the matter and ask
for his forgiveness.”
Ning Ran felt her head ache. Jiang Zhe truly had a great influence to locate the producer so quickly.
He even forced the producer to seek her help to explain the situation directly.
Nan Chen is becoming pettier by the day. Is it necessary to make such a big fuss just because I was rude to him?
Ning Ran waved her hand dismissively and said, “I don't want to talk to him! Just tell him I'm fine.”
The producer looked troubled. “Ms. Ding, I've tried explaining, but Assistant Jiang insists that you personally speak
with Mr. Nan. Assistant Jiang mentioned that if this matter wasn't resolved, several major broadcasting platforms
might unite to boycott our show! If that happens, how am I supposed to explain myself to the investors? Please,
help me out and explain the situation to Mr. Nan.”
Ning Ran couldn't help but feel that Nan Chen was really ruthless for driving the producer into a corner.
It seemed that she had no other choice but to talk on the phone.
She grabbed the phone and said, “Hello?”
The man's cold voice rang out on the other end. “You're taking it out on me because someone else bullied you?”
Ning Ran knew that Nan Chen must have misunderstood. She was mad at him because of Luo Zhiyi, but Nan Chen
had mistakenly thought she was mad because she was bullied on set.
“I'm all right, so don't make things difficult for Mr. Chen, okay?”
Nan Chen said nothing.
“Are you listening? I said I'm fine. Stop bothering others!” Ning Ran added.
Finally, Nan Chen's voice came through. “Are you going to hang up on me again next time?”
This sudden change in topic caught Ning Ran off guard. “What?”
“Listen to me,” he said.
Ning Ran realized she was using the producer's phone to discuss such private matters. It felt strange.
“Let's not talk about this anymore...”
Nan Chen, however, refused to rest. “Why did you hang up on me? Will you hang up on me again next time?”
“Don't you ever give up? We can discuss this later!” Ning Ran grew exasperated.
“No! We're discussing this now,” Nan Chen disagreed.
As they conversed, everyone was listening. Although the call was not on speakerphone, they were all curious about
what had happened.
An idea popped into Ning Ran's mind, and her voice softened as she said, “All right, I understand. I know you miss
me. I'll be coming home tomorrow!”
The situation took an unexpected turn, leaving Nan Chen stumped.
When did I say I miss you? Wasn't I just questioning you for hanging up on me? How did it turn into me missing you?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLuo Zhiyi, who had been maintaining a charming smile, heard Ning Ran's deliberately raised voice, and her smile
froze for a moment.
However, she quickly recollected herself as she quietly conversed with the people around her.
Nan Chen sensed something was off. “Are you drunk?”
Ning Ran quickly responded, “No, I didn't drink much. Don't worry. You shouldn't stay up too late. Go and tuck the
kids in bed early, and don't work too hard. All right, don't be clingy. Bye.”
This time, Ning Ran didn't wait for Nan Chen's response before hanging up the phone.
She returned the phone to the producer and apologized, “I'm sorry. That's just how my husband is. He always
worries about me when I'm out. He can be annoying.”
The producer was taken aback. “Is Mr. Nan not angry anymore?”
Ning Ran smiled. “He's not angry. He was just unable to reach me because my phone died, so he called to look for
me. I've already explained it to him. Everything is fine.”
The producer let out a sigh of relief. “Ms. Ding, that contestant was disrespectful toward you during today's
recording. On behalf of the show, I apologize. I promise such incidents will not happen again. You've shown great
magnanimity by voting for him to advance to the next round. I will make sure his performance in the next round is
canceled.”
The director, who seemed somewhat nervous, piped up, “Since it's already settled, let him advance to the next
round.”
Taking in the director's demeanor, Ning Ran could guess what was going on.
That contestant was so arrogant despite having poor skills. He must have some formidable background backing
him up.
Ordinary amateurs would be extremely grateful for the opportunity to appear on television and wouldn't dare to be
so arrogant.
If that was the case, then this matter was far from over.
