The next day, at Sunshine Corporation, Ouyang Li wore a discontented expression as she listened to Rong Jilin

recounting the events of the previous night.

“Even if the police were on their way, you had the advantage in numbers. You could have taken care of Nan Chen

and Ning Ran before the police arrived. Why were you afraid of them?”

Rong Jilin was still frustrated over his defeat. Hearing her question, he snapped, “Don't make it sound so simple. If I

hadn't left and ended up getting arrested, would you be able to save me from jail? Once I'm imprisoned, Rong Yi will

regain control of Prosperity Holdings. Do you think they will be willing to collaborate with you then?”

“He has been kicked out, hasn't he? Why are you still afraid of him?” Ouyang Li retorted.

“Yi is highly respected within the company. He has saved us from multiple crises and earned the trust of everyone.

If he hadn't intervened to prevent the company from collaborating with you, he wouldn't have been removed from

his position. Even though he's no longer part of the company, he still holds influence. If he chooses to oppose me, I

won't be able to match his power. However, his weakness lies in his timidity and inability to make tough decisions.”

To Rong Jilin, who had a volatile and reckless nature, Rong Yi's rationality and endurance appeared as shortcomings.

“If Rong Yi insists on opposing the collaboration, what will you do?” Ouyang Li asked.

Rong Jilin seemed confident. “It has been decided, right? Even if he opposes to it, there's nothing he can do.”

Nevertheless, Ouyang Li remained concerned. “However, we haven't finalized the contract yet. Our proposed terms

need to be presented in the board of directors meetings of both our companies for approval before we can

proceed with signing the contract. Without the necessary approvals, even if we've reached an agreement, it would

be futile.”

Rong Jilin told her, “That's precisely why I'm here today. We need to expedite this process. You must ensure that the

contract receives swift approval in your company, and I will do my best to rally the board of directors on my end.

With Rong Yi out of the picture, I believe the contract will be approved. My only concern lies with your side.”

“You can count on me to handle things on my side, so don't worry,” Ouyang Li assured him, then reminded,

“However, let's not forget about my condition. It is imperative that you defeat Nan Chen and Ning Ran. The greater

their suffering, the better!”

Rong Jilin's lips curled. “Don't worry, for I despise them too. I'm curious, though. Why do you hate Nan Chen and

Ning Ran so much?”

A menacing look crossed Ouyang Li's eyes. “No particular reason. I just want them dead.”

“Okay, I'll make sure to fulfil your wish,” Rong Jilin agreed.

Ouyang Li rose to her feet. “That's all for now. I need to attend a meeting.”

Twenty minutes later, Ouyang Li entered the conference room to discover that only half of the higher-ups were

present at the meeting.

She slammed the documents on the table angrily. “What's going on? Are they rebelling?”

Her assistant approached her. “Ms. Li, we're in trouble.”

“What trouble? Did they all drop dead on their way here?” Ouyang Li exclaimed.

It was an unusual statement for a CEO to make, but those were the words that escaped Ouyang Li's mouth.

“Those who didn't show up are the general managers of our branches. The authorities have issued orders for those

branches to halt operations, and the general managers have been summoned to assist in an ongoing

investigation,” her assistant informed.

Panic gripped Ouyang Li when she heard that. “Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?”

“I remember you specifically instructed not to disturb you under any circumstances, as you were meeting an

important guest. So when I received the call, I hesitated to interrupt you,” her assistant explained cautiously.

“Useless! You're all useless!” Ouyang Li hollered angrily. “Why did they get investigated suddenly?”

“There are many reasons. Some are suspected of corporate bribery, others of illegal financing, and some are

suspected of money laundering,” her assistant clarified.

“That's impossible. Sunshine Corporation strictly engages in legal businesses. We would never do such things!

Someone has framed us! I must personally visit them and find out who is behind this!” Ouyang Li declared.

Sunshine Corporation and Prosperity Holdings were in the midst of discussing a share exchange. However, if

Sunshine Corporation encountered trouble with its businesses, the share exchange would have to be put on hold.

Ouyang Li growled, “I don't want any coffee. I didn't come here to drink coffee. I'm here to meet Nan Chen!”

“Ms. Li, Mr. Chen is busy with work, and he doesn't have time to see you for now. Please accept our apology,” Jiang

Zhe said with a smile.

Jiang Zhe's role as Nan Chen's spokesperson to some extent was widely recognized within the corporate circle of
