Chapter 123
After Serenity was finished freshening up, Jackson carried her back to the hospital bed.
A meal was already prepared and laid out on a small table beside the bed. It consisted of soup and
some side dishes which were simple but enticing.
Serenity’s stomach immediately growled loudly, demanding to be filled.
“The doctor said it would be best for you to eat something that’s easily digestible,” Jackson said as he
arranged the food on the tray before her.
If anyone else were to witness this scene, their eyes would be wide with surprise. Since when did a at
dignified and formidable man like Jackson Valor, who could easily manipulate the city, attend to
woman in such a manner?
Serenity picked up her utensils and started eating. However, her long hair kept falling forward as she

Just as Serenity was about to look for something to tie her hair up with, Jackson had already
anticipated her needs and pulled out a box of hair ties and comb as he said, “Here, let me.”
When Serenity saw the logo on the box, she instantly recognized it as a luxurious brand. Before she
was incarcerated, she had managed to buy some hair accessories from the same brand. Back then,
her income had only allowed her to afford some small items.
She hadn’t expected Jackson to be so considerate and even prepare this for her.
“Do you know how to?” Serenity couldn’t help but ask
“I’ve watched you do your hair every day. I’ve seen enough to know,” Jackson replied smoothly.
He brought up the comb and started combing through her hair before using a hair tie to put it up. His
technique wasn’t exactly smooth, but it looked decent enough.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Jackson called out.
The door opened, and Connor walked in. Upon seeing the scene before him, the man was
momentarily.

Jackson was… combing a woman’s hair?!
The man was usually disdainful toward women who threw themselves at him, so it was hard to believe
that Jackson would have the inclination to do such a thing for a woman.
However, it seemed that nothing was impossible when it came to Serenity.
Serenity didn’t react initially, but upon seeing Connor’s stunned expression, she quickly realized that
Jackson was currently combing her hair.
She blushed.
“What is it?” Jackson asked calmly as he continued to run the comb gently through Serenity’s hair.

Jackson understood that whatever Connor wanted to say now wasn’t appropriate for Serenity’s ears.
So, he finished up Serenity’s hair and said, “Sis, go ahead and cat. I’ll step out for a moment.”
Once outside the room, Conner continued, “Security caught a journalist attempting to sneak in here.

questioned him, and it turns out that the journalist discovered that Miss Lewis was admitted here and
wanted to come to dig up some news.”
Jackson narrowed his eyes at the words. “Dig up some news? How did he find out about Serenity
being admitted here?”
“He claimed that he saw some comments online about how you carried Miss Lewis into the hospital last
night, so he thought he could get a scoop if he came here,” Connor explained.
Jackson’s voice turned cold as he asked, “Is he trying to dig up something on me or Serenity?”
