Chapter 982
Cedrick had thought of staying at Atherton Manor so that he could take care of Catelyn.
Oddly enough, after returning to the manor, Catelyn lost weight quickly over just a few days, and all
the new clothes Joanne had bought for her looked too loose on her.
Whenever she ate, she would only take a few bites before she would run upstairs and lock herself in
the room, not allowing anyone to get close.
This time was no different; Cedrick was locked out of the door.
He knocked on the door repeatedly, hoping she would open the door to let him in. After returning from
the hospital, she had been acting abnormally, shutting herself in the room all the time, and he had no
idea what she was doing.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAfter he finally got in, he noticed that her face was pale.
He wanted to stay by her side all the time, talk to her, and make up for the pain of losing a son, but
she always turned her back against him whenever he was before her, and she even rolled up the quilt
and pretended to sleep.
This time, Catelyn insisted on not opening the door for Cedrick this time.
Irked, Cedrick's voice raised as he warned, "Catelyn! Do you want me to knock this door down?!'
"Can you stop pestering me?” Catelyn answered after a while, sounding like she was short of breath. "I just want to
be alone..."
Cedrick stood firmly at the door for a while, his lips tightly pressed, looking enraged.
Seeing that Cedrick followed Catelyn upstairs, Joanne also stopped eating and took a piece of bread upstairs for
Cedrick. "Here, eat something. Don't forget about your gastric problems."
'Take it away." Cedrick did not even look at the food she offered. Clearly, he had no appetite at a moment like that.
"We're all very sorry for Cat's miscarriage, but if you fall ill, who'll continue to take care of her?" Joanne gulped
subconsciously out of fear of Cedrick's furious aura.
Cedrick stared at Joanne silently but said nothing.
Joanne stuffed the bread into his hand and pointed to the bedroom doorway. 'Can I try?"
'She doesn't even want to see me. Do you think you can persuade her to open the door?"
Joanne felt that she was being despised, and her face flushed red. "Cat doesn't want to see you because you
remind her of the lost child. I'm different. I can comfort and enlighten her!"
Joanne's words were like a basin of cold water that was splashed onto Cedrick's face, and he froze.
A self-deprecating smile made its way to his face, mocking himself for being a heartless man.
He closed his eyes lightly and suppressed a choked sob. "I'll leave her to you, then. Please make her

Joanne waved to him, and after he left, she gently knocked on the door, but there was no response
from the inside of the room. Just when she thought Catelyn did not want to see her too, the door
opened itself.
Joanne paused and pushed the door open in surprise, entering the room.
Catelyn's cheeks were pale, and she was holding the doorknob with one hand. Her forehead was
sweaty, and she was hunching over as she stood. There was a trace of dirt at the corner of her mouth
that had not been wiped clean.
Joanne was taken aback. "Cat?!"
"Don't shout..." Catelyn held her breath and quickly placed a finger to her lips, telling her to be silent.
'My God, what happened to you?!" Joanne quickly helped her to sit on the bed, wiped the corner of her
mouth, and tested her temperature to check if she had a fever.
'Oh, God! I'm going to call Master Cedrick for help. You shouldn't be discharged from the hospital at all!
How can a woman who just suffered from miscarriage not be in a hospital without the care of doctors
and nurses?!"
