Chapter 100 Does Hearst Have a Chance?

When Anaya woke up, she smelt a strong smell of disinfectant and saw the white ceiling of the

hospital.

Anaya had an IV on her right hand. The liquid in the medicine bottle slowly dripped down, just in time

for the sound of the clock turning in the room.

Anaya propped herself up and found that there was a man sitting on the sofa opposite the bed.

The warm afternoon sun came in through the window, outlining the man’s deep and handsome facial

features. His face was stunning and arresting.

Noticing that Anaya had woken up, the person on the sofa closed the computer and walked to the

bedside.

“Do you feel better now?”

Anaya nodded. Her lips were still a little pale, and she looked more attractive because of being weak.

“Did you send me to the hospital?”

“Yes.” Hearst bent down and pulled up the quilt for her. “Do you want to eat something?”

Anaya had not eaten lunch at noon. After she woke up, her stomach felt uncomfortable. “I want some

porridge.”

Hearst arranged for someone to buy it and then looked at Anaya. “The doctor said that you fainted

because of anemia. Have you eaten on time recently?”

“I just missed one lunch. That’s not the reason for my anemia.”

“Then what is it?”

“Joshua had a car accident. I went to give him a blood transfusion,” Anaya said, not hiding the truth.

Hearst frowned and subconsciously reprimanded, “Again, you…”

Before he finished speaking, Hearst suddenly stopped.

“What?” Anaya looked up at him.

Hearst paused for a moment and then said, “Nothing.”

Not long after, Samuel returned with pumpkin porridge, placed the porridge on the bedside table, and

quickly turned to leave.

“Mr. Helms…” Anaya couldn’t move her right hand with an IV on it.

She wanted to ask Hearst to bring the porridge over and put it on her quilt. But before Anaya finished

her words, Hearst said, “Eat it yourself.”

Hearst’s tone was extremely flat. But Anaya vaguely sensed some anger from it.

She wondered, why is he angry?

Does he think that I want him to feed me?

“Mr. Helms, I just want you to put the porridge on my quilt. I will eat it myself.”

Hearst silently placed the porridge bowl in front of Anaya.

After putting it down, he sat back on the sofa.

Anaya took the spoon with her left hand.

The man on the sofa reminded her, “Be careful of the heat.”

Anaya raised her eyes and looked over.

Hearst had started working again. There was no expression on

his face, so Anaya could not tell how his mood was.

Anaya pondered, is he angry or not?

Probably not.

After all, Mr. Helms is a tolerant and generous person.

Moreover, I don’t seem to have done anything to make him angry.

Anaya slowly finished the porridge. At the same time, the drip happened to be done.

Anaya found her phone and hesitated for a while before calling Lexie.

She fainted because of the blood transfusion. If Joshua died, Anaya would feel like her blood had been

wasted.

When the call connected, Anaya asked, “Has Joshua been rescued?”

Hearing her words, Hearst stopped typing on the keyboard for a moment and looked up.

“Yes.” Lexie walked away from Cecilia and went to a corner. She deliberately said unfriendly, “You care

about him so much. Why? Do you still love him?”

“No.” Anaya’s voice turned cold. “I just don’t want my blood to be wasted. If it were anyone else, I

would also call to ask.”

“So, you won’t ask Joshua to repay you, will you?”

“I want nothing from him. I didn’t help him because of any rewards. After today, I won’t even bother to

mention this.”

“You’d better be telling the truth,” Lexie said, feeling a little relieved after getting Anaya’s answer.

She knew that Anaya was a proud person and would not spread out this thing. But still, Lexie was a

little worried.

After all, as long as Anaya leaked it, there was no hope for

Lexie to marry into the Maltz family.

Anaya did not want to talk much with Lexie and quickly hung up the phone.

After finishing the drip and the meal, Anaya felt that her body had completely recovered, so she got off

the bed.

After she stood on the ground, Anaya realized that Hearst had been looking at her.

“Is there anything wrong?”

“No.” Hearst shifted his gaze away.

“I’ll take a taxi back. I’ll get someone to return the hospital fees to you tomorrow.”

Anaya was thinking about how she should refuse if Hearst insisted on sending her home.

However, in the next second, Hearst agreed, “Okay.”

Anaya was sure that Hearst was indeed a little strange today.

In the past, Hearst would offer to send her back.

He had never been so cold to her.

Realizing what she was thinking, Anaya immediately excluded all the weird emotions.

She thought, I always hope that Mr. Helms won’t be so good to me.

I should be happy that he is indifferent to me.

Anaya tried hard to ignore the feelings in her heart and said goodbye.

Samuel was waiting at the door. When he saw Anaya come out, he greeted her with a smile, “Ms. Dutt,

are you leaving?”

“Yes.”

Anaya responded casually and continued to walk forward.

Samuel did not see Hearst come out, so he entered the ward to take a look.

“Hearst, Ms. Dutt is leaving. Aren’t you going to send her back?”

Hearst put the computer into the computer bag. “She will take a taxi.”

Samuel found it a little strange. “She always says that she will take a taxi. But you trick her into your car

every time.”

Hearst coolly glanced at Samuel. “Trick her?”

Samuel realized that he accidentally told the truth and immediately corrected himself. “No. You will

always invite Ms. Dutt to get in your car out of goodwill. Sorry, I didn’t use the right words.”

Hearst retracted his gaze and did not respond.

He did not want to discuss things about Anaya for the time being.

Although Hearst had been mentally prepared that Anaya wouldn’t forget Joshua, when he faced the

cruel fact, he couldn’t be calm or peaceful.

Five years ago, Anaya almost died because of a blood transfusion for Joshua.

Today, she made the same choice.

Hearst thought that he would have a chance after Anaya was divorced.

He wondered, was I wrong?

However…

Even if Anaya still had another person in her heart right now, I won’t back off.

The divorce of Anaya and Joshua made me realize a fact.

Other than me, no one will really cherish Ana.

Since Joshua can’t protect her, I will.

By the time Anaya reached home, it was already completely dark.

Aracely sat on the sofa with Sammo in her arms, watching TV.

Seeing Anaya back, Aracely and Sammo came to her.

“Anaya, why did you come back so late? I brought you some cake. But you didn’t come back, so I ate

it all.”

“I was busy with work.” Anaya looked tired. “I’m going to take a bath.”

Seeing Anaya’s haggard face, Aracely no longer pestered her and picked up Sammo. “If you are tired,

go to bed early.”

“I know.”

Anaya walked into the bathroom, filled the bathtub with water, and lay in the bathtub.

The warm water reached her collarbone, and Anaya’s fatigue from the long day was alleviated.

Too many things happened today, and Anaya was indeed a little exhausted.

Tomorrow, she had to deal with the follow–up matters of the land of East Boston. Anaya also had to go

to the hospital with Adams for a check–up. When the shareholders of the company knew that the land

of East Boston had been successfully won by her, there would definitely be an argument.

The water vapor filled the air, and Anaya seemed to be in a daze.

She was still a little dizzy and did not stay in the bathtub for too long. Anaya quickly dried her body and

changed into her night dress before coming out of the bathroom.

The living room was filled with a rich milk fragrance.

Aracely walked over with a cup of hot milk in her hands as if she was presenting a treasure.,Sammo

followed by her feet with his tail swaying, as flattering as Aracely.
