 ́Chapter 98 Joshua Has a Car Accident

At night, at the Dunbar’s place.

It was quiet at the dining table, except for the clatter of cutlery.

Dominic chatted with Lexie with a loving smile on his face. “Lexie, how’re things going between you

and Joshua? After the engagement was canceled, did he ever mention it again?”

Lexie’s hand stopped in midair.

Her father asked her to go home for dinner, and she knew what

he was up to.

Marisa sneered, “She caused such a scene before. Mr. Maltz

won’t marry her.”

Hearing the sarcasm, Lexie maintained her usual fake smile. “Joshua will marry me. It’s just that the

last time was a little

overwhelming for him. He needs some time to process it. So he

took a break.”

“A break?” Marisa didn’t believe her at all. “Do you mean a break from all mess or a break up with

you?”

“You seem to want me to separate from Joshua, don’t you?”

Marisa gloated, “Oh, I’m just being honest. You see, Mrs. Maltz doesn’t allow you to walk in her house,

and Joshua wants a break. How many chances do you think you have of marrying

him?”

“Since you raised doubts, how about I call Joshua over now and let him give you an answer?

Lexie did not finish her sentence, but everyone present knew

what she meant.

Marisa could see that Lexie was trying to scare her.

She had lied to Joshua and lost his trust. Besides, Joshua had been paying more attention to Anaya

recently, so she was not

sure about it.

If it wasn’t for the fact that she had saved his life five years ago, Joshua might break up with her

already.

However, Lexie didn’t actually save him five years ago. She lied

about that, too.

If Joshua knew about this, she would be completely finished

with him.

“I remember you said that Joshua started dating you because you saved his life. Is that right?” asked

Danica.

“Yes, so?” Lexie nodded.

“You saved him five years ago. He has always been grateful to

you, but it’s a long time. He might have forgotten about it,”

Danica analyzed seriously. “Why don’t you make an accident and save him again?

“After that, you can say some nice things to him. He would fall in love with you again. Then he would

definitely propose to you.”

Lexie was hesitant. “I have lied to him once before. If he finds

out I lie to him again…”

“Then just take the secret to your grave. You’ll be fine,” Danica grabbed her hand and said earnestly. “If

you seize this chance, you will be Mrs. Maltz!”

“Mom, forget it.” Lexie did not make up her mind.

Joshua had a rare blood type. Five years ago, Joshua had heavy bleeding. His life was in danger. It

was Anaya who drew blood

to save him.

Joshua knew that Lexie had menstrual cramps. When they

He had nothing to do at noon, so he agreed and drove to

Lexie’s house.

He stopped to wait for the red light at a deserted intersection.

He waited for the green light.

Joshua tapped the steering wheel with his fingers as the

seconds ticked.

With a casual glance, he saw a speeding truck from the left

rearview mirror.

The truck was very close to the intersection, but there was no

sign of slowing down.

Joshua sensed that something was wrong. His blood boiled, and he stepped on the accelerator.

But it seemed a little late.

Bang!

There was a big crash at the intersection, which frightened the

others nearby.

Joshua’s car was knocked over in the middle of the road, and the truck fell into the green belt opposite

the road.

When Lexie received a call from Danica, she was having lunch

with her colleagues.

Danica’s voice was a little anxious and excited at the same

time. “Lexie, come to Massachusetts General Hospital now!”

“What happened? Are you ill?” Lexie frowned.

“It wasn’t me. It was Joshua!” Danica seemed to laugh a little.

“He had a car accident! He’s bleeding a lot now and needs your blood. Hurry over!”

“Anaya, Joshua had a car accident. He is in Massachusetts

General Hospital. You have to go there immediately!”

“Why did you call me? What can I do in the hospital?”
