Chapter 109

“Ah, I’ve got a call to take. Enjoy the news!” Stella hurriedly said, ending the video chat.

Enjoy what? Unless she’s about to tell me that Neil has suddenly changed his mind, decided to

completely ditch Bonnie, or Bonnie has decided to be with Russel

Feeling bored, fiddling with my phone for a while, I was on the verge of dozing off when my phone

rang, causing my heart to race.

The name “Neil‘ flashing on the incoming call screen gave me a headache

“Hello?” I answered, sounding groggy and tired.

“Why the sudden trip abroad?” Neil’s voice was filled with suppressed anger.

Who did Stella accidentally spill the beans to? How did he find out so quickly?

I paused for a moment, “I wanted to go abroad, so I did. Is there a problem?”

“You should have at least told me! Don’t forget, we’re not divorced yet!” Neil’s voice was dripping with

sarcasm.

“The reason I’m going abroad is because you’re unwilling to divorce. What are you doing bringing this

up? Shouldn’t you be taking care of Bonnie? She has hurt her hand and needs care.“I retorted, with a

hint of sarcasm.

Neil went silent for a moment. Finally, his voice regained its calm, “If you’re doing this to divorce me,

fine. Draft a divorce agreement and send it over. I’ll sign it.”

I was slightly surprised, “Really?”

“Yes” Neil hung up the call.

I was still a bit dazed. Neil had promised me once before, but he had been dragging his feet for so

long. Was he tricking me again this time?

But, it was worth a shot.

The next day at work, I printed out the divorce agreement I had kept, signed it, and sent it back home

as fast as I could.

After that, I was left waiting anxiously

Neil didn’t contact me again, and I held back from asking him whether he received it.

I still chose to leave with nothing. As long as I could be free, I didn’t need a single penny.

About half a month later, I received a package from home. Inside the envelope was a single divorce

certificate.

I gently picked it up and looked at it. The two–inch color photo on it must’ve been taken right after I

graduated. I didn’t know where Neil found it, nor how he managed to go through the divorce

proceedings alone.

All in all, I got what I wanted. That was enough.

I informed Stella and her two friends, as well as my parents, about this.

But I didn’t want them to tell anyone else.

As for Neil, he could make it public if he wanted, or keep it low–key like me.

But no matter how low–key, he would definitely tell Russel and their gang, as well as his parents and

Bonnie.

That’s his business. He’s completely irrelevant to me now.

“Rena, to celebrate your newfound freedom, we’re planning to come over and give you a chance to

treat us to a feast!” Stella called me happily.

“You’re coming over?” I was very surprised.

“Yes! We’re already at the airport. It’s just that Ali is too busy and can’t come.” Stella sounded slightly

disappointed, and then added, “You better book a nice restaurant, we’re coming for you!”

With that, she hung up.

I had only been here for less than a month, and they were already coming to see me. I was both

surprised and delighted. I immediately booked a restaurant, looking forward to dining with them.

Fortunately, it was Saturday I worked half a day in the morning, and had the afternoon off until

tomorrow, so I could spend time with them.

I drove to a store, planning to buy a blanket on the spot. The residence I was staying had two

bedrooms, but the guest room was not set up.

I couldn’t let Stella and Barbara sleep on the floor.

Before buying a bedding set, I went to the supermarket and bought some daily necessities and snacks.

My good mood was instantly ruined when I heard Bonnie’s voice.

“Irene?” Bonnie was wearing a white sweater and black jeans, her hair tied up at the back, looking

quite gentle. Malinda was by her side, pushing a shopping cart filled with things like toothbrushes,

toothpaste, facial cleanser, etc. The most eye catching were several boxes of men’s underwear.

I pulled my look away, looking coldly at Bonnie, “What a coincidence. What are you doing here?”

This wasn’t Rosemont, it was abroad. The chance of running into her should be quite small.

1… came here to study” Bonnie looked a bit complicated. She asked, “Why are you here?”

“I’m working here.” I didn’t want to talk to Bonnie anymore, “1 should go”

Ignoring Bonnie’s suddenly pale face, I pushed my cart to checkout. I could guess that she came here

to study with Neil’s help, otherwise it would be difficult for Bonnie to get admitted Living abroad would

also be a huge expense, which her family couldn’t afford.

Did Neil also come? Were those boxes of underwear for him?

While I was lining up to pay. I sighed at their finally normal couple life.

I suppose Bonnie told her parents that Neil and I had divorced. Since she nearly died in a car accident,

Ada and Dean Tueley had no choice but to give in. After leaving the supermarket, I went to the bedding

store to pick up my bedding set, made the guest bed at home, and then drove to the airport to wait. for

Stella and the others.

“Rena!”

Stella’s figure appeared, her loud voice felt familiar.

She was wearing a black fur coat and blue skinny jeans, still as sexy as ever.

Barbara, on the other hand, was carrying a cream–colored Birkin cargo, dragging a Horizon suitcase,

and warmly greeted me..

“Barbara, your lifestyle has really upgraded since you broke up with Norman Frost!” I teased Barbara.

*1 feel like I’m experiencing a second spring in life. Aren’t you the same?” Barbara said, after putting

her suitcase in the trunk and getting into the passenger seat. Stella sat in the back.

As I drove to the restaurant, I laughed, “You have a second spring? I thought you said you’d never date

or get married again?”

Barbara giggled, “Yes, I did say that, but life is always full of surprises.”

Life really is full of curveballs. I had gone abroad and still managed to bump into Bonnie. I was here for

work, and she was here to study.

Could it be that I was her destined one?

I told Stella and Barbara about running into her at the supermarket just now. Stella nearly jumped out of

her seat, “What? Is she a ghost or something? Why is she always following you?”
