Chapter 138
Neil is not a dumb guy, theoretically, he should be pretty smart, so why does he become so silly when it
comes to Bonnie?
As far as I can see, theres only one explanation that makes sense to me, he’s playing dumb on
purpose
He told me he needed time to deal with Bonnie, but he kept turning a blind eye I’m glad I didn’t buy his
story
“I know some things, but there are some things you don’t know” Neil’s face was full of sorrow, like a
knot that couldn’t be untied, constantly bothering
hum
“Well, spill the beans” I suddenly raised my voice. “Tell me, and we might be able to clear up all the
misunderstandings, right?”
Neil’s mouth opened and closed, as if he wanted to say something but stopped In the end, he shut up
I snorted. “Ha, Neil, is this what you meant by taking care of Bonnie? You guys met for the first time in
the town hall, it was her who reached out to you first, and you’ve never told me about any of these Are
you afraid of her getting hurt, so you took the responsibility yourself?”
“Even if I misunderstood you, thinking you were the one pursuing her, forcing her to break up, you
loved her so much you lost your mind, and you were okay with it, I continued, then why did you come to
find me after we divorced? What are you really thinking? I don’t even recognize you anymore”
Sometimes I even wonder, since I can be reborn, why couldn’t Neil be possessed by someone else’s
soul?
Maybe he’s not Neil, he’s just possessed by someone else.
Neil clenched his teeth. I saw his jaw twitch a bit, he was probably upset
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI was upset too, I had to look at Bonnie’s disgusting face while eating my roast chicken!
As I dried my hands, ready to leave, I saw Bonnie approaching
She looked at Neil, then at me, her eyes complicated.
“Trene, what happened today has nothing to do with Mr. Whitmore, I came on my own.” Bonnie thought
I was blaming Neil.
I didn’t respond, just walked away
*Bonnie Bitch went to the bathroom too, did she go to find you?” Stella asked in a low voice when I
returned.
1 don’t know, I left as soon as I saw her” I answered casually.
Then Mitch came over, apologizing sheepishly. I’m sorry, Irene. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have posted
that on social media!”
I glanced at Mitch, remembering something Stella had said, so I asked, “Mitch, Cooper, what do you
guys think of Bonnie?”
They looked at each other, not knowing how to respond
If Mitch dared to say a word out of line, today’s roast chicken would turn into roast Mitch
In the end, it was Cooper who spoke, “She’s just a little girl, blinded by love. She’s usually very sweet,
very open and passionate towards others”
As soon as he finished, Stella jumped up, ready to hit Cooper, but luckily he was quick enough to
dodge.
“Dear, dear” Mitch was startled and immediately held Stella, “Don’t get too excited, think about our
baby!”
He turned to warn Cooper, “You’re really annoying, what if you upset my wife?!”
Stella pointed at Cooper angrily. “Cooper, remember, you’re only safe because of the law!”
Cooper used to be quite afraid of Stella, after all, he had witnessed her violent tendencies. Now, he
seemed a bit flustered.
“Yes, my wife is right, Bonnie is very manipulative!” To appease Stella, Mitch started to make stuff up
Just then, Bonnie came back, her face turning ugly when she heard what he said.
Mitch turned to see Bonnie’s tear–streaked face, he recoiled a little, lost for words.
“I knew I shouldn’t have come today” Bonnie wiped the corner of her eye, then quickly turned and left.
Mitch gave Neil, who followed behind, a meaningful look.
Stella noticed and hit him on the head, causing him to wilt.
Without asking why. Neil quickly went after Bonnie.
“Neil really loves Bonnie!” Barbara half–jeered, half–sighed.
“Yes, if he loves her so much, why does he have to disrupt Rena?” Alicia was clearly angry.
“Jerk, I despise him!” Stella cursed
Mitch couldn’t stand his good friend being insulted, he couldn’t help but say, “You guys shouldn’t say
that, Neil has his reasons.”
Since I couldn’t get any answers from Neil, I turned to Mitch, “Oh, he has his reasons, can you tell me
what they are?”
When it came to specifics, Mitch fell silent.
Cooper quickly changed the subject, “Let’s have chicken, it looks like it’s done and smells amazing
Then he took a small knife, began cutting the chicken and put it into bowls, giving everyone a share
The matter was dropped, no one asked what Neil’s reasons were, I still didn’t know.
The chicken was delicious, the five or six of us ate and chatted until midnight before heading home.
On the Day of the Dead, my mom woke me up early in the morning, then our family plus Harold, drove
to the cemetery
This was the only cemetery in Rosemont, located on the edge of the city, the Whitmore family’s
grandparents were also buried here, so running into the Whitmore family was expected
The Whitmore family who came to pay their respects were a few men, Neil and his dad and two other
relatives.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIn the past, Faith would return home every year for the Day of the Dead to pay her respects to her
deceased parents.
The two old men who used to greet each other warmly when they met, now had no interaction,
especially my dad, after a glance at them, he took us
away
After paying our respects and leaving the cemetery, we bumped into Neil again. He was the first to
greet my parents, saying, “How have you been”
My dad just snorted coldly, not giving him even a glance, while my mom awkwardly forced a smile and
hurriedly rushed me into the car
Looking out the car window, I could see Neil and his family looking uncomfortable.
“He has the nerve to say hi? My dad sneered as he drove, Tm already being generous by not giving
him a beating!”
My mom responded, “Alright, just as long as you cut all ties with Ned from now on That’s enough. He
was just being polite. Let’s let it slide.”
“You have to be firm, no more going soft, remember?” My dad was particularly worried about this.
I couldn’t even begin to imagine what their reaction would be if they found out I was pregnant. Would
they force me to have an abortion?
As long as the baby was there, I could never fully sever ties with Neil. The blood ties between him and
the baby were unchangeable.
I replied, “I got it, dad”
Even though I said that, I was beginning to understand that what lay ahead for me and the baby might
not be acceptance and love, but opposition.
I might never remarry, but I hoped to have a child. It was one of my greatest wishes.
