Chapter 142
Neil held me in his arms, his voice laced with pain. “Rena, nobody wanted this accident to happen.
Bonnie was shocked too, she’s been in hospital for the past couple of days. She’s blaming herself.”
“Ned” I broke free from his grasp, glaring at him with the most disgusted, furious look I had ever given
anyone. I wished I had never met this man.
“She was the one who came to my ward and pushed me off the bed on purpose! She killed my baby!”
Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. Neil was taken aback, seemingly unaware of the
situation. “Malinda said when she entered, you were already on the floor. Bonnie was having a heart
attack, she was in a wheelchair, she wouldn’t have done it.”
If losing the baby was the first major hit I took, then Neil’s words were like pouring salt into the wound.
I stared at him in disbelief. “Neil, that was your baby too. How could you protect the person who killed
your child? Just because Bonnie looks like Karina Aaron? Just because she has a heart condition and
cant handle the shock?”
Neil’s eyes darkened, filled with unspeakable complex emotions.
In a fit of rage, I slapped him hard across the face.
“Asshole!” I cursed. “You like Bonnie, fine, I’ll divorce you. If you two are together, I’ll go abroad and
hide as far away as possible. What more do you want? Why didn’t you keep an eye on that murderer?
Why did you let her flaunt herself in front of me? We’re divorced, why should I tell you about the baby
I’m carrying? Are you planning on snatching the child back so Bonnie can play stepmother? Neil, I hate
you, I hate you to death. I hope you and Bonnie will get what’s coming to you!”
I lost control of my anger, picking up the pillow and whatever fruits I could find on the bedside table and

He didn’t dodge, and soon I saw blood appearing on him.
Just then, our parents arrived from home and were stunned by the chaos in the room.
My mom rushed over to support me, her voice shaking with anger. “What on earth is going on, Rena?
How could you be pregnant and not tell me? What happened to the baby?”
Neil’s father looked furious, he walked over and slapped Neil across the face. “Are you even human?
How could you treat Irene like this? I heard that Bonnie came over and caused Irene’s miscarriage, and
you’re still trying to protect her!”
“It wasn’t Bonnie.” Neil still chose to believe Bonnie.
This statement set his mother off, she had never liked Bonnie.
Faith angrily hit her son with her bag, not noticing Neil already covered in bruises.
My dad’s face was scarily stern. He watched as the Whitmores scolding Neil, but he didn’t say a word.
He came over and ruffled my hair. “Rena, it’s okay Let’s go home, your mom and I will take care of you”
I threw myself into my dad’s arms and cried my heart out. Eventually, worn out, I fell back onto the bed
and fell into a deep sleep.
After losing the baby, I dreamt of a little girl for several days. She was learning to walk, stumbling
towards me while calling me ‘mommy” in her baby
voice
Each time I woke up, I would find my face wet with tears.
My parents visited me every day, as did Russel, who seemed to have become more silent, his eyes
tinged with regret.
“If I had been there that day, this wouldn’t have happened, right?” he asked.
“Russel, this isn’t your fault. The ones in the wrong are Neil and Bonnie, you don’t need to blame
yourself.”
Even though I had somewhat calmed down, the wound was still there, and it would never fully heal.
Tomorrow, I will be discharged and then resign from my job here and return home.
Stella and the others still don’t know about my situation. I asked Russel not to tell Mitch, so they
probably won’t find out.
Stella is pregnant, I don’t want her to get too agitated
As Russel and I chatted, a nurse came in to give me an IV.
The moment she opened the door, I saw Neil standing right outside.
He visited every day, but my parents wouldn’t let him in, and I didn’t want to see him either.
After the nurse left, I asked Russel, “How’s Bonnie doing now?”
“She’s stable. I heard she can’t go abroad for now and needs to be observed for a while Russel
answered.
I nodded and didn’t say anything else. There were things I planned to deal with after I got home.
The next day. I was discharged. I went home with my parents. Orlando would help me with my
resignation and moving out.
Before boarding the plane, Russel sent me a message, “I’ll be back home in a short while. Wait for
me.”
I replied, “Okay”
When I got home, it was already afternoon. My mom went to the kitchen to prepare dinner while my
dad sat with me, watching TV
I stared blankly at the comedy shows, unable to laugh.
After a while, I contacted Stella. “Stella, do you know any journalists? Can you recommend someone?”
Stella didn’t know what I was planning, but she still recommended a journalist.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHis name was Halley and he loved reporting entertainment and social news. He had reported on many
of Neil’s scandals in the past.
I never thought I would be the one to leak information about Neil to him one day.
Bonnie has a heart condition? Then I’ll give her some excitement.
After ending the chat, I sent Halley an audio clip. It was recorded when Bonnie came to my ward.
Ever since I saw Bonnie’s true colors, every time I met her alone, I would turn on the recording app on
my phone.
Halley quickly replied, “Received””
I could have given this audio clip directly to Neil to prove what Bonnie did to me, but if he insisted on
protecting Bonnie, it would be hard for me to leak the information to the public.
Just after I finished chatting with Halley, Stella called. I thought she was going to ask me what I needed
a journalist for, but it turned out she already knew about my miscarriage.
“Rena, what the hell happened? You were pregnant? How come we didn’t know anything about it? Was
it that bitch Bonnie who caused your miscarriage? And Neil is still defending her?” Stella asked, all fired
up.
“Stella, you’re pregnant. Don’t get too worked up, okay? I’m back home now, and everything’s fine, I
tried to soothe her, worried about her health.
“Bonnie sent a message to Mitch, spilling the beans about your situation I saw it on his phone. What on
earth is she playing at?” Stella was fuming.
My fists clenched Bonnie’s shamelessness was beyond my wildest imagination She knew Stella and I
were as close as sisters and that Stella was pregnant, yet she deliberately let slip about my miscarriage
to Mitch. Didn’t she fear that the shock might cause Stella problems?
I never thought anyone could stoop so low. A girl who looks as innocent as a lamb, yet is more
dangerous than a snake, always scheming to hurt others.
