Chapter 154
I really didn’t understand how Russel was able to finish his stint abroad and come back in such a short
time. I was gobsmacked when I saw him at the
hospital
There he was, towering over everyone in his white lab coat, just as he always did. He had this aura
about him, and his ice cold gaze seemed to pause on me for a second
Dr Russel you’re back”” A nurse popped up, greeting him shyly
“Yep, I’m back” Russel replied nonchalantly, and then sauntered over to me
He glanced at the paper in my hand. “Feeling under the weather?”
I shook my head quickly. “No, not me. I’m here with my mom. She’s got a dodgy heart and needs
regular check-ups”
My mom was having an ECG done at the moment, and I was just waiting for her
“When did you get back? I had no clue,” I asked
1 got back yesterday late at night. Didn’t want to disturb your beauty sleep, Russel replied, looking at
me.
I nodded. He was really attentive
Do Neil and the others know you’re back?” I asked again.
“Nope, I haven’t told them yet. You and Neil…” Russel paused, his eyebrows furrowing before
smoothing out again.”
“What’s the scoop with you two?.
I chuckled “What could possibly be going on between Neil and me? If Bonnie wasn’t always in my face.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI doubt Neil and I would even cross paths”
Bonnie was a bit dim in this regard. She was always trying to one-up me, to show me she’d won. But all
she did was bring Neil around me more
It seemed like Russel wanted to chat more, but he got called away
Looking at his retreating figure, something felt off
There was such a deep friendship between him and Neil that I would feel very guilty if it drifted apart
because of me. At that moment, my mom finished her check up. She was all smiles, saying, I’m fine.
Nothing to worry about.”
I held her hand, smiling back That’s great. Keep your spirits up!”
We were about to leave when we bumped into Cathie at the hospital entrance.
Her eyes lit up when she saw me, and she came over.
After greeting my mom, she asked, “Can I have a word with Irene?”
“What’s up?” I asked, puzzled.
Cathie pulled me aside and whispered, Irene, I want to ask you a question. Do you know if Bonnie is in
this hospital?”
“Why on earth are you looking for her?” I asked, surprised
Cathie pouted, “I want to see her. I havent met her yet. I dont get what’s so great about her that Neil is
so hung up on her”
I was silent. Cathie was clueless about Karina’s situation. She probably thought Bonnie was Nel’s true
love, just like I used to.
“Spit it out, Irene Cathie nudged me.
“Cathie, I suggest you give up on Neil and go back to G City” I advised her gently.
“No way! I wont give up until I meet Bonnie, Cathie replied, her eyes wide.
I knew which hospital Bonnie was in, but if I told Cathie, she’d definitely go locking for Bonnie. And if
things went south, she’d be blamed
She was just smitten with Neil and meant no harm I didn’t want her to get in trouble because of this.
So I told Cathie I didn’t know where Bonnie was, bid her goodbye, and drove my mom home.
But I’d underestimated Cathie’s determination. She found the hospital where Bonnie was and even
managed to piss off Neil
That’s what Stella told me “Mitch is at the hospital right now. I’m thinking of going over Cathie is too
nice to be a match for Bonnie,” Stella said worriedly over the phone
“You’re pregnant You should stay home “I sighed, “T’ll go and try to get Cathie to go home?
“No, you shouldn’t go. Neil’s there too.” Stella replied
“Cathie’s dad and my dad are close. It would be even worse if I didn’t go. You just rest,” I said, hanging
up and heading for the hospital.
Bonnie’s room was buzzing when I arrived. Bonnie was lying in bed, her eyes red, while Cathie was
furing.
Mitch, seeing me, came over and whispered, “Irene, you need to talk some sense into Neill He’s pissed
because Cathie came looking for Bonnier
Neil had been working with Kevin Evan for three years, and Cathie was the Evan family’s daughter.
The fact that he was angry with Cathie over Bonne, it was because Bonnie meant a lot to him.
My heart sank. Then what was all that talk with me about? Was he playing me?
While I had no expectations for him and wasn’t stupid enough to expect him to give up Bonnie, it was
funny to suddenly find out that what he said and what he did was different.
“Why did you tell Cathie I was here? You know my situation…” Bonnie looked at me tearfully, her voice
full of accusation.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Bonnier Neil frowned. He glared at Bonnie, his expression one of irritation.
Startled, Bonnie’s tears started flowing, as if she couldn’t believe Neil was angry at her.
Ignoring the two of them, I went over to Cathie, “Let’s go. You’re driving back to G City tonight”
“Bonnie, you’ve got it all wrong. Irene didn’t tell me you were here. Are you trying to frame her? Is this
the kind of woman you like, Neil?” Cathie shouted, refusing to leave
Bonnie was stung by her words and started crying. That’s not what I meant. You said you’d asked
Irene, so I thought she’d told you…
“I said Irene didn’t tell me. Now you’re twisting my words” Cathie, just as straightforward as Stella, was
far from pleased, “Neil, I thought you were smarter than this. To think you’d fall for a woman like this, I
was a fool to have liked you!”
After Cathie finished speaking, she pulled me to leave.
1,1″ Bonnie was panting, as if she was having difficulty breathing.
I noticed that Neil was ready to leave with us, but Bonnie appeared to be unwell, so he had to stay
where he was.
In the elevator, Cathie was silent and downcast. She looked really bummed..
I knew this experience would shatter her dreams.
Her personality was too straightforward. She’s no match for Bonnie. Besides, Neil didn’t even like her.
How could he possibly be biased toward her?
“Trene, where did I go wrong?” Cathie asked me, puzzled, as we sat in the car on the way back to G
City. “What the hell is going on in Neil’s head? Stella was right, that Bonnie is a real bitch, I can’t stand
being alone with her!”
“All you have to do is give up on Neil There’re plenty of good guys out there, why do you have to pick a
jerk?” I smiled and said, standing at the car door. Cathie gave a strange look behind me and awkwardly
said, “Trene, the jerk is here.”
