Chapter 90
I didn’t see it coming that Bonnie bringing home a guy who wasn’t Neil even though he wasn’t her
boyfriend, just a guy who’s been chasing her.
Bonnie had him sit. Ada poured him some water while Dean was giving him the once over from across
the table.
There I was, sitting with my head in a fog.
After a bit, Bonnie turned to me, “Trene, we need to chat”
“Sure“I got up and followed her into a bedroom.
Bonnie got straight to the point. “Trene, I bet you’re wondering why Neil’s not here. I just want to tell
you even though I’ve got feelings for him, I just can’t be the homewrecker. I’ve made my stand clear to
him, and I’m ready to make Dale my boyfriend”
Dale was the guy she brought home.
“Did he agree?” I asked, a tad uneasy. How could Bonnie stand up to Neil? If Neil didn’t agree, she
could kiss any chance with another guy goodbye.
“Whether he agrees or not, that’s his problem,” Bonnie said, making it clear she’s made up her mind.
I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something was off. The guy Bonnie brought home was definitely not
Neil.
After leaving the bedroom, I didn’t want to stick around anymore. Ada invited me to eat, but I declined.
She gave me the medicine I had asked her to get, along with some instructions.
Bonnie chimed in, ‘Mom, what’s that?”
A flicker of embarrassment passed over Ada’s face before she laughed it off, “Why so nosy?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“It’s the medicine I asked Ada to get for me,” I told Bonnie honestly, “Neil and I have been trying to
have a kid. Ada got me some medicines before, they worked pretty well, but we’re still trying”
Since Bonnie has decided to reject Neil completely, my words shouldn’t affect her.
Still, I caught a flash of surprise and anger in her eyes.
“Goodbye” I smiled again, bid Ada and Bonnie farewell with my medicines in hand, and left.
Just as I was driving away, Neil’s car came into sight. Upon seeing me, he made a U–turn and parked
in front of me.
I rolled down my window, “Neil, what’s up?”
“Were you at her place?” Neil looked visibly upset
“I went to get the medicines Ada prepared for me.” I said expressionlessly, “Bonnie brought a suitor to
meet her parents. Were you looking for her?”
Neil got out of the car, looking up at the building with anger written all over him.
Bonnie was his prey, but she brought another man home to meet her parents. This was definitely
crossing a line for him.
Suddenly, I saw through Bonnie’s scheme
Bonnie must have felt Neil’s growing feelings for me, so she came up with this plan to force Neil to
realize who he truly loves.
Upon hearing my words, Neil was ready to go upstairs. Given his personality, he’d spill the beans to
Ada and Dean today, regardless of whether they’d accept him
“Neil” I was filled with anger.
I stopped him, “Have you thought this through? You’re about to meet Bonnie’s parents. This signifies
that you guys are taking a step into each other’s families, things are getting serious”
He stopped in his tracks, turning to look at me.
I looked at him calmly, “If you’ve decided to be with her, then please leave me alone. You can’t keep me
on a leash while starting a new life. That’s just not
fair.”
After that, I drove away from the other side. When I got back to Sterling Estates, I quickly drafted a new
divorce agreement.
If he still wouldn’t sign, then I’d have no choice but to sue him.
Even though I was ready with the divorce agreement, my heart was still in turmoil. I couldn’t help but
imagine what would happen after Neil stormed into the Bonnie’s place
Bonnie must be smug. Her plan worked like a charm.
Just as I was pacing around, Oscar texted me, “Trene, we’re about to start our break. I’ll be heading
home soon. Are you free these days? I’d like to have a meal with you
I replied without hesitation, “I’m free tomorrow.”
Oscar replied quickly. “What would you like to eat? After the meal, we can go to Evergreen Park and
climb the Obsidian Spire. I heard the snow view from the mountain is pretty stunning
I replied. “Sounds good”
Neil didn’t come back all night. It’s been a while since I’ve waited for him anxiously After my rebirth, I
saw our ending, so I was always able to keep my
emotions under control
But now, it felt like I was back in my past life. I couldn’t keep my cool.
I ended up not sleeping at all. The next day, I was completely drained.
For Oscar’s sake, I pulled myself together, got dressed, and drove to the place he’d specified.
rene!” Oscar was in a white puffer and grey jeans, still looking youthful.
As I approached, he asked with a hint of concern, “Are you okay? Didn’t sleep well? You look kinda

I managed a smile, “I had a nightmare last night”
Oscar suggested, You should put a cross under your pillow then.”
My gloomy mood was instantly lightened up a bit. “Are you a devout believer?”
“It wouldn’t hurt to try” Oscar turned his head back and asked, “Right?”
That’s when I noticed his cat was also there. The cat was on Oscar’s back, meowing through the clear
cover of the backpack as if responding to its
Owner
“You’re right I’ll try putting a cross under my pillow tonight I played with his cat a bit, then turned to the
French restaurant next door, “Is this where you’re treating me?”
“Yes. Do you like French cuisine?” Oscar asked a bit shyly, “I’ve actually never had French food.”
Oscar came from a modest background. It was already impressive that he could pay his tuition and
living expenses by working part–time. He wouldn’t want to waste money on food. I understood.
I shook my head, “Not really my thing. I’m more into local fast food these days. My treat.”
Oscar immediately shot it down, “No way! If I say I’m treating, then I’m the one footing the bill!”
“All right then. But I still prefer the local eats.” i didn’t want Oscar to splash out too much. I figured any
old place would do.
Besides, I wasn’t even hungry. The main reason I agreed to meet up was to distract myself from
overthinking at home.
After a bit of scrolling on his phone, Oscar said. This place has banging reviews on Yelp. Let’s give it a
shot, yeah?”
“Let’s bounce,” I replied without hesitation.
A grin spread across Oscar’s face. The pain and resentment from the breakup were nowhere to be
seen in his eyes.
Compared to me, he seemed to have an easier time letting go and moving on.
