| couldn't take my eyes off Kex, wondering what he was going to say. He looked around the table, and then his

gaze landed on me. He gavea small smile, and my heart fluttered.

Then, he stood up and walked over to me. He pulledup from my chair, and | looked at him with raised

eyebrows. He just smirked, that cocky grin of his that both annoyed and intrigued me. | scoffed, trying to act

unaffected by his presence.

“There will be a ball tonight,” Kex announced to everyone.

going on.

“What's the occasion?” Harry asked, his voice curious.

“Yeah, what's it about?” Aisha added, her voice muffled by a mouthful of food.

“You'll find out tonight,” he said, turning back to the group. They all nodded, seeming content with the answer. I,

however, was still left in the dark. | wanted to know what was going on.

| sat down, and | tried to focus on the delicious food in front of me, but my mind kept wandering back to the

He leaned in and kissed my cheek. “Get ready soon,” he whispered, before walking

away.

“I'm serious,” | said, not amused by his lack of

response.

me.

With a groan, | stood up and headed to my room. As | opened the door, | saw the maids

“My lady,” they said in unison, bowing.

| gave them a warm smile and sat on the bed. | leaned back and closed my eyes, taking a moment to relax. The

maids quietly went about their business, folding my clothes and tidying the room. I took a deep breath and let
