Chapter 802
Nicole sat in the car, looking at the two with a slight frown.
Eventually, it was Zachary who broke the silence. He said in an impassive voice, "Nicole, stay in the car while I step
out to take a look." After that, he unbuckled his seat belt, opened the car door, and stepped out of the car.
Standing in front of the car with his hands in his pockets, Colton looked totally indifferent; there wasn't the slightest
change in his calm expression when he saw Zachary step out of the car. Looking at the man, Zachary summoned
up a faint smile, which was only skin-deep as it didn't reach the depths of his eyes. "Let's talk, President Gardner,
shall we?"
Colton responded with a grunt before turning to leave.

The two men came to a relatively quiet and secluded spot. They were about the same height and had similar vibes
about them, and neither of them budged when their gaze met. Finally, Zachary said, "President Gardner, surely you
stopped my car today because you've got something to talk to me about, so let's cut to the chase and tell me what
it is."
Colton squinted at him through his narrow eyes for a while. Then, he replied in an icy voice, "I hope you can stay
away from the mother of my son, of course."
Listening to the man's words, Zachary suddenly let out a chuckle. With a smirk full of mockery, he looked at the
former, saying, "President Gardner, you've never been a responsible father since Nicole gave birth to Hayden.
When Hayden fell ill and got hospitalized, it was me who was always with them, not you."
Colton's countenance changed slightly at the man's words, but he refused to appear weak in the slightest. With a
frosty face, he retorted, "Hayden is my son no matter what. What's wrong with you, President Yates? Are you in the
habit of raising someone else's child?"
Instead of getting angry, Zachary replied with an imperturbable expression, "All I want is Nicole, and I'll raise her
son as my own, no matter who his father is!"
The instant he finished the sentence, Colton's face finally showed a change in expression. Slightly clenching his fists,
he stared coldly at Zachary, saying, "I'm the one Nicole loves."
Zachary didn't take it seriously either. He replied softly, "Well, President Gardner, we can just wait and see which of
us Nicole will choose in the end."
A faint gleam flashed across Colton's inky black eyes, but no one could tell what was on his mind. After staring at
Zachary for a while, he ultimately turned around and left.

Zachary stood in place for a while and watched the man leave before turning around to return to his car. I've
underestimated Colton's feelings for Nicole. I never thought he could keep courting her so persistently despite the
objections from everyone in the Gardner Family. If it weren't for Nicole feeling guilty about what happened to
William, I'd have stood no chance of winning. I've stayed by her side for so many years, so how can I not tell that
she's long since fallen in love with… Colton? As much as I hate to admit it, it's true. A bitter smile played on his lips.
He slowly shook his head but said nothing much in the end.
Seeing how dispirited the man looked as he returned, Nicole knitted her brows slightly. After looking down and
pondering for a moment, she slowly comforted him, saying, "Zachary, you don't have to pay attention to whatever
Colton says. He's got a caustic tongue, but that's unavoidable since that's the kind of person he is. Just ignore him."
Zachary turned to look at her; the car's interior lights shone dimly on his face while casting patches of shadows.
Inwardly, he didn't know whether to feel happy or upset. After all, she was trying to console him, but he could tell
from her words just now that she knew Colton deeply. Turning to look ahead of him, he replied with a nod, "Uh-huh,
I know that. I won't take him seriously."
