“We’ll talk in detail when we meet. My men discovered Yulissa’s tracks around Jipsdale. Sure enough,
she’s still alive. I’m in Nate’s hospital room right now. Come over,” Xavier murmured on the phone.
“Okay, I’ll come over right away.”
Hanging up the phone, Winnie quickened her pace and went back to Nate’s hospital room.
As she knew that Xavier was the only person in the hospital room then, her guard was lowered. For
that reason, someone caught her off guard and hugged her the instant she pushed open the room
door.
She instinctively tensed all over when she suddenly ended up in someone’s arms.
But soon, she relaxed, for she knew the person hugging her at that second was none other than Xavier.
Lifting her hand, she smacked him on the back. “You’ve got to remember that I’m not the average
person. If it weren’t for my familiarity with your smell, you would’ve definitely gotten pummeled now.”
Xavier hugged her, the indulgence in his eyes so overwhelming that it could almost drown someone.
“Don’t you know that I’m so reckless precisely because of that?”
As he spoke, he lowered his voice. “Say, Dumbo, how do other married couples deal with it? Why is it
that I always feel that you’re far away from me? Whenever I can’t see you, the urge to tie you to my
side grips me hard. Am I sick?”
“Yeah, you’re more or less sick, but I’ve got the cure. Are you interested in it?”
“Yup! I want everything you give me. You’re the only one who can cure me.” Burying his head in the
crook of Winnie’s neck, Xavier took a deep breath of her natural fragrance.
Winnie understood that he was whispering sweet nothings to her.

Winnie threw him a look. “You know me, Xavier. No one can stop me from doing something I want to
do. Even if you don’t tell me, I can investigate this by myself. It’s just a matter of time. Why make me
mad for nothing?”

“You should be grateful for that. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been anyone to care for your
grandfather. Do you know that he suffered a fall at home today in his bid to chase after you? He even
broke his leg!”
Evidently, Yolanda didn’t believe her. “Are you insane? I don’t know why you’re stopping me from
leaving, but I’d advise you to quit while you’re ahead if you’re joking about such a thing just to keep me
here. No matter what, my grandfather was once your master.”
“Follow me to the orthopedic department if you don’t believe me and see whether your grandfather is
having his leg placed in a cast!”
Winnie couldn’t be bothered to yak with her anymore. If her grandfather weren’t my master, I wouldn’t

Dragging Yolanda along, she stalked toward the elevator. But the woman kept refusing to cooperate,
struggling and even leaving scratch marks on her arm with her fingernails.

the elevator.
That caused quite a scene. Seeing that, the few patients’ family members in the elevator exited it early
although they obviously hadn’t arrived at their desired floors, afraid that they would be caught in the
crossfire.
“Let go of me, Winnie! You’ll regret this!”
“You’re the one who’ll be regretting it if you don’t go and see your grandfather today!”
After saying that, Winnie flung Yolanda to a corner of the elevator.
Then, she flipped through her phone for the video of Sebastian in a wheelchair and showed it to her.
As Yolanda stared at the phone screen, she finally started panicking. “My grandfather is really in the
hospital? Is he okay?”
“Are you asking me this? You’re his family, so you should be asking the doctor that question.”
While they were talking, they had already arrived at the third floor. Winnie lifted her hand and snagged
her phone back from Yolanda before motioning for the latter to go out with her eyes.
At once, Yolanda headed for the orthopedic department. Winnie, on the other hand, sat on the chair in
the hospital corridor.
She only got to her feet when she saw Yolanda wheeling Sebastian, who already had a cast on his leg,
out.
When Sebastian caught sight of Winnie’s back from a near distance away, he said to Yolanda beside
him, “Fortunately, Nini drove me to the hospital this time. It was also thanks to her that I found you. Go
over and thank her.”
Yolanda had her arms twisted behind her back and had been kicked all the way over earlier, so she
was still aching then.

Xavier in his lounge.
After inserting the needles, she started calling Jacinta, but the latter’s phone remained engaged.
It persisted for a whole ten minutes, and that had her finding it rather abnormal.
A touch worried, she began pacing in the lounge.
Her unusual behavior snagged Xavier’s attention.
Opening his eyes, he queried in concern, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
A frown marred Winnie’s countenance. “I can’t get through to Granny. Her line keeps indicating that it’s
busy. Such a situation rarely occurred in the past. I’m worried that she might have run into trouble or
something might have happened to her.”
Xavier opened his mouth, but he ultimately swallowed the words that had already reached the tip of his
tongue.
In truth, he didn’t think that something had happened to Jacinta. Instead, he felt that she was
exceedingly suspicious. But to that very moment, he still hadn’t had the time to send someone to keep
an eye on her.
After pondering for a bit, he suggested, “How about I have someone go and look in on her at the
condominium?”
“Sure!” No sooner had Winnie nodded than something abruptly occurred to her. She instantly changed
her tune. “Never mind, forget it.”
“What’s wrong? Are you not worried anymore?”
“No, I suddenly remembered that Josiah has the day off in the afternoon. He should be at Aqua Moana
now, so I’ll ask him to look in on her. I’ll phone him right away.”
However, Josiah didn’t answer the phone for a long time.
Winnie called him several times, but there was no response.
