Chapter 161

Is this what they call a chiseled body? I can't say I disagree! This is definitely... something of an eye

candy! ”Mr. Luther, your body is indeed a fine specimen. I'm sure it'll be very useful in my research, so

maybe you should satisfy my curiosity by letting me... dissect it,” suggested Bailey.

Artemis' lips immediately twitched in shock when he heard Bailey. Just as I thought, I should never

have expected normalcy from a weirdo like her. This woman will be the death of me! I can't believe I

thought it was a good idea to try to seduce her. D*mn it!

Bailey could not help but smirk after she had successfully rendered Artemis speechless. He's got

nothing on me when it comes to shamelessness. ”Stop moving so I can check your wound.”

At that point, Artemis dared not talk back since he realized how ruthless the woman was.

The last time Baily stitched his wound without giving him any anesthetic, Artemis was in so much pain

that he even forgot his own name. Who knows what other hellish torture she has in store for me next if I

offend her again?

The corner of Bailey's lips curled upward when she noticed how afraid the man was.

Even she, herself, did not notice that the way she looked at Artemis had changed.

Instead of indifference, there was a sense of closeness between the two.

Bailey placed her long, slender fingers on Artemis' chiseled body to check his wound, and only after

making sure that his heart was fine did she breathe a sigh of relief.

“Your heart's fine. You probably got an injured nerve because of the external injury, so just rest well and

avoid going to crowded places or over-exerting yourself.” With that, Bailey applied medications on

Artemis' wound again before wrapping it with a bandage. “Put your shirt on.”

Even though Bailey was a decent woman, she was at an age where most women would be sexually

desperate.

Finding it somewhat challenging to resist a well-built body like Artemis', the woman was worried that

she would do something reckless.

“It's cooler this way,” responded Artemis after raising an eyebrow at Bailey.

Immediately, the woman turned to the car door and was ready to leave the vehicle because she would

rather not waste her breath on Artemis.

“Okay, okay, okay. I'll put it back on. Are you happy now?”

Artemis then hurriedly picked up his shirt and put it on. Before long, the piece of clothing was properly

buttoned up once again. “Don't go. Let's talk about the surgery.”

“Your mother took me to court, yet you still expect me to perform a craniotomy on her father

unconditionally? Do I look like Mother Teresa or Virgin Mary to you, Mr. Luther? Why the heck would I

do her a favor after what she did to me?” questioned Bailey rhetorically, scoffing at Artemis.

Shocked by the woman's straightforwardness, Artemis stared at her with twitching lips.

“Mrs. Luther has repeatedly offended me, so you'll have to forgive me for not being as merciful as

Mother Teresa. Tell your mother that she has two options. She can either keep her word and beg for

Anonymous' help or cut ties with Old Mr. Chivers.”

Bailey was no saint, so she had no reason to help the woman who kept trying to send her to prison to

ruin her. Back then, Felicity said she would get on her knees and beg for Anonymous' help, and I think

that's a great idea. I certainly don't mind seeing the elderly woman kneel before me.

However, Bailey did not think that someone as proud as Felicity would do that. It's unlikely that the old

woman will humble herself before the young woman she hated with a passion. It's fine if she doesn't

want to kneel. She just has to cut ties with Old Mr. Chivers. I'll do my best to treat him if he's no longer

her father.

“Okay. I'll relay your message to my mother. Is there anything else you'd like her to know? If not, I'll

send you back to Shelbert Condominium.”

Bailey was surprised to hear that, for she expected Artemis to protest against her demands on his

mother. “So you're fine with me putting your mother in a difficult position like that?”

“We all have to be responsible for our own mistakes. Since she made one, she should be punished for

it. Otherwise, she won't learn,” replied Artemis while casually leaning back in his seat.

To that, Bailey simply nodded slightly, convinced that Artemis was colder than she was.

Seeing how Bailey kept silent, Artemis said not another word to her but turned to the driver instead.

“Back to Shelbert Condominium.”

Meanwhile, at a private mansion in the eastern suburbs, Rhonda followed a housekeeper to a garden

pavilion.

“Dr. White, Ms. Jefferson's here.”

“Leave us.”

Rhonda then paced up the steps and frowned at the man in front of the railing.

If she could, she would not think twice about pushing him into the artificial lake and letting him drown.

“Is there anything I can help you with, Dr. White?”

Cadence grabbed a handful of bait and threw it into the lake before turning around to give the woman a

half-smile. “You know that Bailey is Anonymous, right? The Chivers family is convinced, and they want

her to operate on Old Mr. Chivers, which means our effort will be for naught.”

Rhonda did not like hearing Bailey's name. As soon as the man mentioned the name, she began to boil

with anger. “You only called for me because you already have a solution, don't you? Let's hear it. After

all, we're in the same boat now. If I go down, you go down with me.”

After laughing heartily, Cadence dusted his hands and approached Rhonda to pull the woman into his

arms.

“We're close enough to be completely honest with each other, aren't we? Of course, we're in the same

boat. Letting Bailey operate on Old Mr. Chivers may not be such a bad thing.”

Rhonda tried to break free, but to no avail, so she had to give up trying. With her eyebrows furrowed,

she questioned through gritted teeth, “What does that mean? Why would it not be a bad thing? If Bailey

succeeds, that old hag in the Luther family would probably start treating her differently. The old hag

might even accept her.”

“Don't get your knickers in a twist, baby,” uttered Cadence in a disgusting tone after pecking the woman

on the cheek. “As you said, that only happens if Bailey succeeds. No matter how capable she is,

there's no way she can guarantee a hundred percent success rate.”

Immediately, Rhonda's face was filled with disgust. As though Cadence's kiss had caused her cheek to

be infested with maggots, she felt her stomach turn. “W-What do you mean by that? Are you saying

you can control the outcome of the operation?”

“What do you think?” questioned Cadence rhetorically while giving the woman a mysterious look.

Rhonda stared at Cadence for a while before a glint flashed across her eyes. “Are you sure you can

cause the operation to fail?”

“I know just how to ensure that old man dies on the operating table,” whispered Cadence beside

Rhonda's ear with a smirk.

Shivering, Rhonda quickly protested, “No, he cannot die. If I'm going to take credit, I need him. I can't

let him die on the operating table.”
