Chapter 217
Bailey picked up a file from the desk and tossed it at his face. What a scoundrel!
“Get out!”
Artemis grabbed hold of the file as it slid down his cheeks. He arched his brows and said, “You insulted
me first. Why can't I tease you back?”
Bailey rolled her eyes. She shot daggers at him and sneered, “Did I insult you? Your wedding with
Rhonda has become the talk of the town, and you two will be holding the wedding of the century soon.
Why can't I, your employee, give you my blessings?”
Artemis laughed even more loudly. He pressed one of his hands on the desk and reached out his other
hand to lift her V-shaped chin. “Honey, are you jealous?”
Honey? Bailey lifted her arm to slap his hand off her chin. Disgusted by his remark, she gritted her
teeth and said, “Are you done teasing me? If yes, please get out. I'm busy and have no time for your
nonsense.”
Artemis grinned and shook his head. “I want you to know that the only name that will appear on my
marriage certificate is Bailey Jefferson. No other woman is qualified to put her name in that column, so
ignore those rumors.”
Bailey was stunned for a moment.
She thought the man would screw Rhonda up by marrying her so that she could experience the feeling
of falling from grace.
Upon hearing his remark, she felt there was more to it than meets the eye. “Did you bribe City Hall
officers and get them to fabricate a marriage certificate?”
“No, no, no.” Artemis arched his brows and smirked. “Rhonda did marry someone named Artemis
Luther. But that Artemis is a beggar, not me. Well, technically speaking, that's not the beggar's name
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇteither. I had to spend a million to get his name changed.”
Bailey was at a loss for words.
While staring at the man with a nasty look, her lips twitched. Men can become much crueler than
women if they want to.
To Rhonda, being humiliated like that would be worse than death. “You're indeed a villain. Anyone who
falls for you would suffer miserably.”
Artemis walked past the desk and turned Bailey's chair around.
He then wrapped one hand around her waist, lifted her chin with his other hand, and smiled. “But not
you. You'll be the happiest woman in the world if you fall for me.”
That remark rendered Bailey speechless. Why do I feel like this b*stard has become hornier lately? In
the past, he would at least control himself, but now, it seems he doesn't respect my boundaries
anymore.
“Please. That would be disastrous. Hey, I am curious. What do you like about me? I'll try to become
less likable if you can give me some hints.”
Artemis was not mad after hearing what she said. He was all smiles when he stared at her flat tummy.
It was her capability to produce offspring that had caught his attention. She gave me three kids in one
go. How can I let her run away?
Artemis believed God had been kind to him. The woman he loved was also the one who took his
virginity and gave him two sons and a daughter. Since fate has brought us together, I can't just let her
go, can I?
“What are you smiling at?” Bailey got a little annoyed.
After glaring at the man for a moment, she sighed. “Everyone says you're cruel and heartless, but why
do I feel that you're just a dude who likes to flirt? I'm curious why you are so obsessed with me since
you know how boring I am.”
Artemis brushed his hand against her delicate face, then ran his fingers on her cheeks and uttered,
“Because spending time with you made me realize what good marriage is. That's why I think you're my
soulmate. Bailey, stop running away from me. You won't be able to outrun me.”
Bailey did not know how to react to that confession.
Artemis lowered his head and was ready to plant a kiss on her lips. Before she could retaliate, Artemis
pulled himself away and turned his attention to the stack of files on the desk. He raised his brows and
asked, “Are you studying Victor's case?”
Bailey was stunned for a moment. “You know about it?”
On second thought, she felt she had asked a dumb question.
Nothing escaped Artemis' eyes, including international affairs. Since the entire Hallsbay is his territory,
of course, he would know what happened to Victor.
After shoving her aside, Artemis picked up a document and flipped through the pages. He then smiled.
“Victoria is your best friend, and now that her brother is behind bars, I know you'll do something about
it. But Lionel would not leave any traces of evidence behind because he is well-prepared this time.
You're just wasting your time going through all the documents.”
Bailey narrowed her eyes and responded with a serious tone, “So you expect me to sit and watch
Victor being sentenced to jail for a crime he didn't commit?
“He's not innocent,” Artemis said in a calm voice. “Someone might have instigated him, but his motive
was obvious. He knew it was against the law but still did it. No one can clear his name as he was the
one who cashed out that several billion.”
A look of dejection flashed across Bailey's face.
Artemis was indeed someone with good analytical skills who was not afraid of speaking his mind.
Everything he said was logical that Bailey could not retort.
Artemis smiled at her and raised his brows. “It's not a lost cause yet, as there's still a chance to turn
things around, but that particular person will have to reach out to the mastermind.”
He continued, “From loving to hating someone, Lionel has experienced it all. Putting his marriage and

betrayed by their loved ones.”
Bailey narrowed her eyes, cast an icy glance at him, and asked, “You mean I should ask Vicky to go
and see Lionel so that she can resolve the grudges he had for her?”
Before Artemis could explain further, she added, “No. I'll not allow that to happen. He'll torture her to
death. Vicky is innocent, and she doesn't deserve to go through that misery.”
Artemis looked at her and said indifferently, “If she can't handle the pressure, then she had no choice
but to watch her brother suffer in jail and her family fall apart.”
“Victor's case marks the beginning of Lionel's revenge, and he probably has marked Vincent as his
next target. Lionel would show no one mercy as he had planned this revenge for years. No one can
stop him except Victoria.”
Bailey pressed her lips and gritted her teeth for a bit. She then asked, “Do you have any other plans in
mind? What if I beg you to help them? Will you help Victor?”
A corner of Artemis' lips quirked up.
He wrapped his hands around the woman's waist again, pulled her to his chest, and whispered, “A
woman who seeks a man's help must pay the price. Come to my private mansion tonight and serve me
well.”
In a fit of anger, Bailey knocked his chest with her elbow. “You j*rk.”
After responding with a deep grunt, Artemis chuckled. “What's wrong? Did I ask you to sleep with me? I
just want you to come to my mansion to cook me a meal. Who's having dirty thoughts now, huh?”
Bailey did not know what else to say. This son of a b*tch.
Meanwhile, in one of the rooms in the Luther residence, Rhonda sat up in the bed and leaned against
the headboard.
Beatrice sat on the edge of the bed and smiled at her. “Ronni, don't worry. I'd asked my friend at City
Hall to check, and he told me your marriage certificate does carry Artemis' name. Now that you're
married to him, everyone must start addressing you as Mrs. Luther.”
