Chapter 55
“Huh? Vidonia, what’s your game plan?”
“Just wait and see!”
The car pulled up at the entrance to Breezy Bay Condos.
Before long, Shela emerged. Dressed to the nines, dog leash in hand, she was the picture of a rich,
spoiled lady – practically looking down her nose at everyone
“Elgin’s certainly pulled out all the stops, these houses are a fortune,” Vidonia chuckled, “All this
expense, just for Shela’s residence. Talk
about a waste.”
Letitia replied. “Elgin spoils her rotten and gives her whatever she wants.”
“A match made in heaven – a douchebag and a gold digger, saving the rest of us the trouble.”
Vidonia smirked, got out of the car, and popped the trunk open, reaching for a burlap sack.
Letitia, surprised, asked, “What are you…?”
“The best pranks are often the simplest the old sack trick,” Vidonia explained. “Ain’t got time for mind
games with her, let’s get straight to the point!”
So, her plan was to put Shela in here and drag her to some deserted spot for a beatdown!
“Let’s roll!” Vidonia, dragging Letitia along, sprang into action.
Shela, carefree as ever, was walking her poodle and humming a tune.
Ever since knowing Elgin, her life had leveled up. She had been living large, driving fancy cars,
surrounded by servants, shopping till she dropped for clothes and luxury goods.
When it came to money, Elgin was always generous. Because to him, that kind of money was chump
change.
Shela was living the high life, she just need to sleep with Elgin once to secure her status.
While she was plotting how to lure Elgin into bed, her world suddenly went dark.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSomeone had ambushed her from behind!
“Ah.. mmmph!” But Shela’s mouth was covered, her screams muffled.
There were two people, dragging her to a comer for a barrage of punches and kicks.
Trapped in the sack, Shela tumbled around helplessly on the ground.
Watching this scene, Letitia felt a bit of her anger dissipate.
Vidonia gave her a conspiratonal wink. Then, in perfect sync, they gave Shela a good thrashing before
tossing her onto a garbage truck and walking away without looking back.
Soon after, the garbage truck driver came by, mistook the sack for trash, and drove off
It was only because Shela kept wriggling and struggling that a sanitation worker noticed her
At Ivory Towers.
At dinner time, Elgin walked into the dining room but didn’t see Letitia
“Where is she?”
“Mrs. Ramirez said she needed to work overtime on some drawings, I’ll take her meal to her room
later,” the butler replied.
Elgin’s face turned cold, “Tell her to come down or go hungry!”
The butler passed the message to Letitia.
Maintaining her composure, Letitia uttered, “Well then, I won’t eat. I’m not hungry anyway.”
“But madam, that will only anger Mr. Ramirez.”
“Let him be mad, whatever.”
Letitia didn’t care anymore, her mind occupied with how to fix the broken emerald bracelet.
was a deficate task that needed patience
The butler advised, “Madam, it’s best not to provoke Mr. Ramirez, you’re the one who will suffer”
vo had my fair share of suffering, what’s one more?”

Letha managed a smile. “Thanks, butler. I appreciate your help, I’ll repay you when I can.”
“No need, it’s okay, ma’am.”
“I don’t even know why you’re so nice to me,” Letitia said, “You’re Elgin’s man, you should be on his
side, following his orders.”
She was just a penniless, unloved Mrs. Ramirez that anyone could trample on.
The butler might as well have cozied up to Shela.
“I just want Mr. Ramirez and you to get along, that’s what makes a home,” the butler replied.
“Home?” Letitia pondered. She lost hers the moment Elgin showed up in her life, just like the broken
emerald bracelet before her.
“Yes madam, you and Mr. Ramirez are married, you have a home. I’ve watched him grow up and I
want to see him happy.”
“Him and me, happiness was never an option. He hates me, and I… feel the same.”
Two souls, bound by an enmity that ran deep down to the marrow, found no solace in love, no
sanctuary to call home.
The butler’s expression changed, “Actually, some things aren’t as they seem on the surface.”
Letitia chuckled, “Don’t tell me you think Elgin actually likes me?”
“To Mr. Ramirez, you are special. I’ve never seen any woman get as much of his attention as you. Even
Shela doesn’t get that much concern from him”
It was always Shela throwing herself at him.
The butler continued, “As for your issue with Mr. Ramirez, things aren’t always what they seem on the
surface.”
Letitia looked up sharply, something was off.
“What do you mean?” she asked, “Do you know something about Marcel Ramirez’s death?”
The butler looked down.
Letitia’s heart raced, “Answer me, you’ve been with the Ramirez family for decades, you must know! If
you have the truth, or evidence”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“No,” the butler denied, “Madam, you’re overthinking.”
“But your words just now..!”
“You got me wrong.”
Hope faded from Letitia’s eyes. She thought the butler had evidence to clear her father’s name.
“Sorry, I got too excited” Letitia sat back down, fiddling with the emerald bracelet again. “Madam.” The
butler still wanted to persuaded
her.
“No need, I’m not hungry.”
After beating up Shela, she had dined with Vidonia before returning
Seeing persuasion was futile, the butler was about to leave when Shela’s screeching echoed from
downstairs, “Letitia, come out here NOW!!”
In the living room, Shela reeked, hair a mess with leaves stuck in it, looking every bit like a beggar
The servants were keeping their distance from her because the stench was just unbearable.
Elgin’s frowned, “What the heck are you wearing?”
“Mr. Ramirez,” Shela saw him and started crying out, “I thought it was such a nice day out, and I was
walking the dog. And then, outta nowhere, some jerk puts a bag over my head, beats me up, and
dumps me in a garbage truck!!”
As she spoke, she reached out in an attempt to grasp Elgin’s hand. He, however, recoiled in apparent
disdain.
“I know I’m a hot mess right now, but… this is definitely a planned attack!” Shela’s face was all about
that righteous anger.
“Just get cleaned up with the help, Elgin said, and then he turned to leave.
He’s a stickler for cleanliness, can’t stand any trace of dirt. He’s already planning to have the servants
toss out the carpet Shela strutted on promptly.
“I didn’t come here to take a bath!” Sheta says, “Mr. Ramirez, you’ve gotta stand up for me! I’m being
bullied over here, doesn’t it make your heart ache?”
