Chapter 222 Forgetting About His Ex-lover
Ignoring the fact that Jack’s assistant was still around. Amanda bellowed, “What on earth
are you doing here? You’re getting engaged soon, and your wedding will be held by the
end of the year. What are you trying to achieve? Do you want to annoy me so badly? You
humiliated me in the garage the other day, but you’re pretending to be a good father now.
Don’t you find yourself revolting?
As she recalled what happened in the garage, she had the urge to murder Elias. If not for
the fact that Aiden was down with a fever, she would ve pounced on the jerk and
destroyed him.
Elias remained silent and took a glance at Jack’s assistant. Elmer Walsh. He knew that he
had to keep on acting
Otherwise, if Elmer returned and told Jack about it, the older man’s suspicion would be
aroused.
Elias said grimly. “Regardless, I’m Aiden’s father. I’m trying to fulfill my responsibilities,
and it has nothing to do with you.
What on earth did he just say? I was the one who gave birth to Aiden, but this man is
telling me it has nothing to do with me.
Amanda was so exasperated that she had the urge to laugh. Tm Aiden’s mother, yet
you’re telling me it nothing to do with me. Elias, are you so used to getting treated like a
prince? Is that why you think one in this world has to revolve around you and obey your
orders?”
Elmer had been observing their interactions so that he could go back and report
everything to Jack.
Seeing that the two of them were about to argue, he tried to calm them down with a
smile. “Miss Bailey, you and Mr. Winters used to be married, and you guys have a kid
together. There’s no need to fall out with each other. Just like what Mr. Winters said, he’s

“Who are you? What right do you have to butt in? Will you please get out of here? This is a
private matter between us, so why have you been listening to our conversation the entire
time? Are you monitoring someone?” Amanda inadvertently exposed Elmer’s motives.
Elias couldn’t help but frown.
Elmer was startled for a moment before replying with a smile, “That’s not true. I’m here to
help. If there’s anything you need, just let me know.”
“Sure, there’s something I need you to help me with right now. Please get out of this room
and close the
door. Thanks.”
Amanda didn’t understand why this man couldn’t read the room at all. Can’t he see that
I’m having a discussion with Elias? Why is he listening to our conversation? How does such
a tactless assistant like him survive in the company?
Elmer was dumbfounded upon hearing that. Is she trying to chase me away?
On the other hand, Elias snorted, totally agreeing with Amanda’s actions. He had been
meaning to tell Elmer to get lost. However, he had no choice but to let Elmer follow him
since the latter was Jack’s
assistant.
Elmer still wanted to say something, but Amanda bellowed, “Get lost!”
A shocked Elmer immediately turned around and left the ward before closing the door.
“His ex-wife is so fierce. It’s no wonder Mr. Winters fell out of love with her,” he muttered
under his breath.
Inside the ward, Elias curled his lips. He was glad that he had finally gotten rid of Elmer,
who had been monitoring him like a human surveillance camera and reporting everything
to Jack.
However, his faint smile made Amanda think that he was mocking her.
“Why are you smiling? Do you think I’m laughable? Yes, I’m such a laughingstock. No
former wife of a wealthy man in this world would fare as badly as I do. After the divorce, I
got nothing and was even humiliated by you!”
Amanda regretted falling in love with a jerk like him back then. Despite knowing he was a
terrible guy, she couldn’t pull herself out of it.
When she came back four years later, she still hoped that the jerk would treat her with
sincèrity. She couldn’t think of anyone as foolish as she was.
Seeing how agitated she was, Elias asked, “Do you hate me so much, Amanda?”
“No, I don’t hate you at all, and I don’t even care about that. I hate myself for falling hard
for you repeatedly. It’s entirely my fault.” Everything Amanda said was a reminder to
herself.
Elias felt sorry for the woman. Just as he was ready to say something, he took a look at the
door. Even though the door was closed, he knew Elmer was eavesdropping on them.
As such, he decided to remain silent.
Nevertheless, Amanda hated it when the man stayed silent in a situation like this. She lost
her cool and yelled, “Say something! Why are you silent? Do you think I’m
unreasonable?!”
All of a sudden, Elias’ phone started ringing, which was untimely in the quiet ward.
He took a look and realized it was Stephanie calling.
Certainly, he wouldn’t pick up the call at a time like this, and he rejected the call at once.
Aiden was on a drip. While lying on the bed, he was aggrievedly saying something in his
dream. His face was all red due to the fever, making him look pitiful.
“Mommy… Will we stay together with Daddy forever? Daddy… I finally have a father
now… Daddy…”
When the two of them heard the child talking in his sleep, they were astounded..
Amanda’s eyes welled up with tears as she covered her mouth so that she wouldn’t wake
the child up if she cried.
On the other hand, Elias balled up his fists and frowned. Looking at his son, he felt
heartbroken.

Although the child appeared to be resisting him, he was secretly glad that he was reunited
with his father.
However, Amanda didn’t want the jerk to stay there and stare at the child, acting like a
loving father.
She took the man’s arm and dragged him out of the ward.
The moment she opened the door, she saw Elmer almost losing his balance as he pressed
his ear against the door to eavesdrop on them.
Elmer straightened up in embarrassment. Just as he was ready to explain, Amanda yelled
at Elias, “Stay away from Aiden and me! Since you’ve decided to marry another woman,
stop interfering in our affairs. I’ll never thank you, and I’ll even find you revolting.”
Elias hesitantly parted his lips to speak, but his phone rang again.
This time, Elmer noticed it was Stephanie calling. As such, he reminded Elias by saying,
“Miss Allegra is calling. Mr. Winters.”
Elias appeared displeased. He rejected the call earlier because he didn’t want to pick it up.
However, since Elmer had seen it, Elias had no choice but to answer his phone. Otherwise,
the assistant would report the incident to Jack.
With a dark expression, he picked up the call and held the phone beside his ear. “What’s
wrong?”
He was trying hard to suppress his fury.
However, when Amanda noticed his attitude, she thought he was being gentle to the other
woman.
Pffi, a man tends to forget about his ex-lover when he finds a new one.
Stephanie was heard sobbing over the phone. “Where are you, Elias? I have to see you
right now! It’s an urgent matter. Come to me now!”
Elmer was pretending to be nonchalant, but he had been listening attentively to their
conversation.
Elias took a look at Elmer and said grimly. “Send me the address. I’m coming right now.”
Despite the man’s curt reply, Amanda felt like her world was falling apart.
