Chapter 425 Battle of Wits

In the meantime, Symeon had already taken his seat in the dining area but hadn’t started

eating yet. After all, he was waiting for Amanda and Aiden. Looking at the table full of

oriental cuisines, Symeon couldn’t help but smile in joy because he felt as if he had

become a kind-hearted man. Unlike his present self, his former self wouldn’t spare a

thought for anyone else, let alone tell his chef to make dishes that he didn’t like just for

someone else or wait for someone. Soon, when he heard Amanda and Aiden’s voices from

afar, a warm smile appeared on his face.

When Symeon turned his head, he saw Amanda and the boy entering the dining area. He

then fixed his gaze on the child and asked, “Are you hungry?”

Despite having spent a few days there, Aiden was still apparently wary of Symeon, holding

Amanda’s hands tightly. Soon, Amanda carried Aiden and placed him on the chair, rolling

his sleeves so that he could eat more comfortably.

Then, Amanda looked at the table full of oriental cuisines and became bewildered,

wondering what Symeon was up to because she knew he didn’t like oriental food at all.

“Mommy, I want that chicken wing.”

“Okay, I’ll get it for you.”

Nevertheless, before Amanda could place the chicken wing on Aiden’s plate, Symeon had

already beaten, her to it by placing it on the boy’s plate.

“You don’t like oriental food, so why did you have your chef make them?” Amanda

skeptically asked.

Symeon smirked, “It doesn’t matter. I’m just here to accompany you for the meal. I’m not

very hungry.”

“Does it matter? I’m just here to keep you both company, plus I’m not hungry anyway.”

Symeon smirked in response.

“Okay…” Amanda didn’t say anything more as she directed her attention to feeding Aiden.

After all, she couldn’t stand the mess that Aiden created while trying to finish the meal by

himself.

A few moments later, Symeon suddenly said something. “You guys will move to a different

place tomorrow.”

As soon as Amanda heard Symeon’s words, she lost her focus and accidentally dropped

the fork and knife from her hands onto the dining table, staring at the man’s face in front

of her. A different place? Why? Why should we move to a different place? Amanda’s first

instinct immediately prompted her to suspect that Symeon might have discovered

something because she couldn’t think of any other reason that might explain why he

wanted them to move.

In the face of Amanda’s dramatic reaction, Symeon furrowed his brows in puzzlement.

“What’s wrong? You have a problem with that?”

“No, that’s not what I meant, but I don’t understand. Is it necessary for us to move out?

Where exactly are we going? I’m already used to living here.”

Symeon smiled and said, “It’s not far from here, actually. We’re just moving to the next

villa. You won’t be leaving this compound. The layout and structure of that building will be

exactly the same as this one. In fact, I can even have them made just like the one in your

room here.”

Amanda went silent, finding that to be even stranger because she couldn’t understand

why Symeon wanted them to move to the villa next door. Yacob is going to act in the next

two days. Our plan is going to fail if he can’t find me and Aiden. What should I do now? At

the thought of that, Amanda had a feeling that Symeon knew what she was up to. What if

I refuse to go along with Symeon? He is going to get suspicious of me, isn’t he?

What should I do now?

“I heard you’re going on a business trip in two days’ time. Is that true?” Amanda asked.

Symeon picked up a porcelain bowl and took a sip of the soup in it, nodding. “Yup, I’m

going on a business trip to Fliaria for a week. What’s wrong? Do you have something to

tell me?”

“Nothing. I was just curious actually. I was wondering what that has to do with us moving

to the villa next door.”

“Nope, nothing at all. It’s just that there’s going to be a thorough cleaning going on soon,

so it’d be better for

you both to stay there for a few days. If you can’t get used to staying there, you could

move back here next week.” Symeon put his words so casually that it sounded like

something trivial.

In fact, Symeon’s butler noticed a few suspicious silhouettes from the security footage

when he was told to take a look at them. As those silhouettes were seen in Villa No. 4,

Symeon quickly decided to arrange another place for Amanda and Aiden to stay for the

sake of their safety. Nevertheless, if Amanda insisted on not following Symeon’s plan, it

would seem obvious to him that she had something to do with those mysterious

infiltrators.

At that moment, neither of them said a single word as if they were in a battle of wits and

mind with each other. Sensing Symeon’s intention, Amanda nodded and replied, “Alright,

we’ll do as you say then. We can move back here next week anyway. Just let me and Aiden

sleep in the same room because it usually takes quite a bit of time before he can finally

get used to a new environment. No problem! I’ll just take Aiden to Villa No. 4 and meet up

with Yacob at midnight by then.

In the meantime, Symeon heaved a sigh of relief and lowered his guard when he heard

Amanda’s affirmative reply. “Thanks for being so understanding. If you need anything

while I’m away, you could. approach my butler directly. However, you mustn’t leave the

estate.”

“I’m aware of that. Without your orders, I won’t be allowed to leave the estate.” Amanda

reacted with ant indifferent tone, to which Symeon smiled without saying a single word.

After dinner, Amanda surprisingly felt tired because she hadn’t eaten enough, having

exhausted her energy in her battle of wits with Symeon. Then, upon putting Aiden to

sleep, she went downstairs alone to the kitchen where she opened the refrigerator to find

something to eat. Nevertheless, she couldn’t seem to find anything much to eat in the

refrigerator as all she could see were fresh and raw vegetables. Well, I guess the people in

this house don’t fancy fast food a lot. Now that the chef has already gone home, I’m afraid

I’ll have no choice but to be my own chef.

Soon, Amanda randomly picked a few ingredients and planned to cook herself some pasta.

After spending about ten minutes, she made a plate full of pasta, whereupon she was

about to enjoy it at the dining table. However, before she could take her first bite, she

heard Symeon’s footsteps from outside the kitchen. Then, she looked up and saw Symeon

walking into the dining area.

When Symeon saw the hot steaming bowl of pasta, he couldn’t help but ask, “Are you still

hungry?” It was then that he began recalling their dinner earlier that night. Wait a second,

it looks like Amanda was only busy feeding Aiden during dinner just now. She didn’t eat

much herself, did she?

Amanda sat down and grabbed a fork and a spoon as she began munching the pasta. “I

was starving all of a sudden, not to mention the fact that I have a habit of eating supper.

But you don’t need to worry about

I’ll wash the dishes myself without dirtying your kitchen.” She replied casually.

Symeon wouldn’t mind if Amanda dirtied his kitchen, but he also didn’t find it necessary

for him to elaborate in response to that. Soon, he grabbed a chair and sat down beside

her, watching her eat pasta in a serious manner. “Do you have any plans if I let you walk

away now?”

“Me? Of course.” But why should I tell you?Of course, I’m going to bring Aiden with me

and reunite with Elias. Deep down, Amanda believed that they would live a happy life

again when Elias woke up.

Symeon asked again, “What are your plans?” Deep down, he had no idea when he had

become so interested in Amanda. In fact, she had grown on him so much that he became

curious about her past and her future plans. Nevertheless, Symeon didn’t know why and

how he developed such a keen interest in Amanda, thinking it was their son, Aiden, who

linked them together.

“Why should I tell you that? That’s my privacy.”

“It doesn’t matter, I guess. If I want to know it, I could always find out anything I want to

know about your life. Symeon’s voice sounded cold and ruthless, as if everyone was just a

pawn in his eyes.

Amanda snorted coldly. “You sound confident, Mr. Lawrence.”
