Chapter 454

Ava chuckled, “Miss Daisy, go on in. Have a good chat with him.”

Daisy was actually not keen on entering. This strange environment and atmosphere put her on edge, but she

mustered her courage and pushed the door open.

Outside the door, Ava told John, “I’m heading down first.”

John replied, “Alright.”

After Ava left, John immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Wilton, “Mr. Wilton, Miss Santos is here, in Frances’

room.”

On the other end of the line, Wilton asked, “You let Miss Santos in?”

John replied, “Yes. You mentioned you wanted to see her.”

Wilton stated, “I’ll be right back. You keep your heads up.”

“Got it.” John answered.

Upon entering the room, Daisy found it wasn’t as grim as she expected. Instead it was quite bright and cozy. The

smell of disinfectant was strong and medical equipment was scattered around, but the atmosphere wasn’t stifling.

The window was open, and a few potted plants on the sill brought life to the room. The light blue curtains gently

swayed in the wind. Daisy slowly approached the bed. The man half lying on the bed was reading a book. He had a

straight nose and wore glasses. He looked quite young, around 26 or 27 years old. His hair wasn’t dark, but a bit

lighter, matching his pupils. He had a gentle and refined air about him, very polite.

Seeing him, Daisy blushed. She found this man named Frances to be quite handsome and well-mannered.

“Hello.” Daisy said softly.

Frances looked up at her and smiled, “Take a seat, Miss Daisy.”

Daisy took a seat on a chair to the side. Frances said, “I’m surprised you came to see me today. Even if you didn’t

come, I wanted to meet you and have a chat.”

“Chat about what?” Daisy asked.

“I know you don’t want to marry me, and I don’t want to hold you back because I know my health might not hold

out much longer.” Frances said.

Daisy quickly said, “No, you’ll get better, definitely will.”

When she heard Frances say he might not live much longer, she felt a pang in her heart. But she just met this man,

why did she feel this way?

Daisy chuckled, “By marrying you, the Santos family would prosper. If I don’t marry you, our family may not survive

under the pressure. I understand all this.”

Frances said, “I’m sorry, Miss Daisy. These things are beyond my control.”

“I know, I understand that it’s not your fault.” Daisy smiled, a dimple showing on her cheek, “Actually, it’s Mrs. Mina

who asked me to come see you today. I was thinking on my way here, if you turned out to be a jerk, I’d avoid you as

much as possible. But…” “But what?” Frances asked.,

“But I think I was wrong, marrying you might not be a bad thing after all.” Daisy said.

Frances chuckled and shook his head, “You’re telling me this, aren’t you afraid of Mrs. Mina scolding you?”

Daisy said shyly, “How would she know if you don’t tell her?”

Daisy’s gaze landed on the book in his hand, it was Long corridor by Keigo Higashino, “Do you like this book too? I

love it, I’ve read almost all of his books.”

Frances looked surprised, “You like his books too?” Seeing Daisy nod, Frances also smiled, “I have a lot of them

here. They’re all on the bookshelf.”

Daisy stood up and walked over to the bookshelf.
