Chapter 863

Thalassa closed her eyes bitterly.

She had just been about to ask Lysander about this unexpected change, but one look at his icy profile, who was

staring blankly out of the car window, made the words die in her throat.

Before long, the car stopped. $sa’s surprise, they weren’t at the Royal Estates, but rather at the Vibrant Oasis

Residences.

Stepping out of the car, she barely had time to close the door before the car sped off, not lingering for even a

moment. It was as if Lysander couldn’t bear to see her for a second longer.

Thalassa watched the sleek black Rolls Royce disappear into the distance before turning to head into the building.

The apartment was pitch black. She flicked on a switch, and the room was suddenly illuminated by a dazzling white

light.

Evelyn, seated on the couch, blinked and shielded her eyes from the sudden brightness.

“Mom, you’re home. Why didn’t you have any lights on?” Thalassa asked, surprised.

Evelyn shook her head, her eyes flitting back and forth between Thalassa and the empty space behind her. “Why

should I keep the lights on when I’m here all alone? That’s just a waste of electricity.”

“Don’t say that, Mom. Humans invented light bulbs to use them, not to save them,” Thalassa said, setting her bag

down by the door.

“Why did you suddenly decide to come home today? You haven’t been around for days,” Evelyn said, her face pale

and her spirits clearly low. Thalassa could tell something was wrong.

“Mom, what’s going on? Are you feeling lonely here all by yourself?” Thalassa asked, concern coloring her voice.

Evelyn let out a weary sigh. “I used to be so busy taking care of my four little grandkids, rushing them off to school

and then waiting eagerly for them to come home. Now, it doesn’t matter whether I wake up or not. There’s nothing

to look forward to.”

Life used to be so lively, but suddenly it was quiet, and Evelyn felt completely empty, finding it hard to adjust. Now

she spent the whole day sitting on the couch, lost in thought. She used to complain about the exhaustion of taking

care of the children, but now that she didn’t have them around, it was as if she’d lost her whole world, feeling

utterly empty.

Thalassa hugged her mother, resting her head on her shoulder. “Mom, I understand what you’re going through. But

don’t worry, we’ll get back to normal soon. If you’re really feeling lonely, you could go visit Auntie.”

“I’m not going anywhere. If I leave, I’ll lose all chances of seeing my grandkids. At least I still have a chance if I stay

here,” Evelyn said, her voice filled with determination.

“I’ve been trying to find a job these past few days, but no one seems to want me. I don’t know where I’ve gone

wrong,” Evelyn confessed, a helpless expression on her face.

“Mom, it’s okay if you don’t have a job. You could join a dance class, or go for walks. I’ll try to come home more

often to keep you company,” Thalassa said, hugging her mother like a child, just like Elowen used to do.

“Focus on your work and your kids. Don’t worry about me. If you don’t spend time with them, they might forget

about us,” Evelyn said, her mind always on her beloved grandkids.

“They won’t forget us, Mom,” Thalassa said, not willing to accept the possibility.

“They’re little, Thalassa. Whoever spends the most time with them will win their affections. It wouldn’t be surprising

if they forgot their own mother after a while,” Evelyn said.

“And don’t be so stubborn. Try to win Lysander over. It’ll be better for you and the kids. You know how men are.

Once you’ve won their hearts, they’re yours,” Evelyn advised Thalassa.
