The words “birth control pills” rang through the air, and a tension gripped Thalassa’s
nerve. She turned to the door, her spoonful of soup from Lysander still half-swallowed.
Amelia rushed in.
It was her who yelled just now.
Amelia strode into the hospital room, her eyes landing on Lysander sitting by the bed with
a bowl of soup in hand and spoon poised; it was obvious that he was feeding Thalassa.

“Oh please,” Amelia sneered, “You mean you don’t like Lysander and he’s the one clinging

bumpkin like you? Take a good look in the mirror and weigh your own worth!”
Amelia had always loathed Thalassa back when Leopold was alive. She blamed her for
Leopold’s struggle in the past five years. It was Thalassa who Leopold worked tirelessly to
win back. He built up his career just so he might stand a chance with her.
