Chapter 890

Thalassa attempted to tug her leg free, but it was firmly captured between Lysander’s muscular thighs. The

strength in his well-toned legs immobilized her in an instant.

Thalassa had thought the children were still asleep in bed, but now she understood. Lysander must have taken

them back to their rooms.

She had been asleep and completely missed it.

The heat radiating from behind her, coupled with the panic of being trapped between Lysander’s legs, set off

warning bells in Thalassa’s mind.

Her breath quickened. “Lysander, it’s late.”

“Mmm, I know,” Lysander’s deep voice rumbled in her ear. His nose gently grazed her neck, his warm breath

fanning her delicate skin.

This teasing gesture sent a jolt through Thalassa as if she’d been electrocuted. She shivered involuntarily and

arched her back like a bow.

“When you’re tense, it’s as if you’re inviting me,” Lysander murmured, his arms circling her as his warm breath

continued to flutter against her neck.

His husky voice was thick with danger.

Thalassa felt like a deer caught in a predator’s claws. The predator’s tongue was constantly licking her delicate skin,

ready to pounce.

This sense of panic and danger was lethal.

Thalassa slowed her breathing and tensed up her whole body, “I don’t want to cuddle. I want to sleep. It’s too hot

when you cuddle me.”

Though her words rejected him, her voice was soft and the undertone of her words held a hint of intimacy.

To Lysander, it was not a rejection. Instead, her weak voice was more like a temptation.

The low, soft moans of a woman, the allure of playing hard to get, were impossible to resist.

Lysander swallowed, his blood pumping faster.

“Turn it down just a few degrees. Then it won’t be too hot.”

Thalassa could hear the sound of his swallowing, a signal she was all too familiar with. Her body tingled, her heart

skipping a beat in surprise.

At that moment, Lysander freed a hand. He reached over and grabbed the remote on the bedside table and turned

down the temperature.

Thalassa seized the opportunity to move away and create some distance between them.

Ever since she learned of Lysander’s involvement in Leopold’s death, Thalassa had felt a huge barrier between

them. Having not seen Lysander for some time, she had also grown unfamiliar with him.

She couldn’t handle any physical contact with him.

But as soon as she’d moved away, she was pulled back into his lean arms. Lysander’s strong hand circled her

slender waist and pulled her against him.

Thalassa was easily drawn back into Lysander’s embrace.

A soft gasp escaped her lips.

“Where do you think you’re going if you’re not going to sleep?” Lysander’s voice was cold, deep, and questioning.

With her back against his warm chest, the hardness of his muscles was a constant reminder of the danger behind

her. She could even feel the strong rhythm of his heartbeat.

Each thud echoed in her soul.

“I need to use the bathroom, Thalassa didn’t dare to openly resist him. Escaping from a beast required tact. If she

tried to run away forcefully, she would be torn apart even more brutally.

“Alright, I’ll carry you there,” Lysander responded. He rose, lifting her in his arms.

Thalassa wrapped her arms around his neck without giving too much thought. In the darkness, her panicked gaze

met Lysander’s oceanic eyes, which were gleaming in the moonlight..

The sight sent a shiver down Thalassa’s spine, “Actually, I don’t need to go anymore.”

Going to the bathroom would make things more dangerous and fiercer.

Thalassa had seen it before.

“So, are you going or not?” Lysander’s deep-set gaze pierced through the moonlight and riveted on her.

His eyes had already adjusted to the darkness, allowing him to see Thalassa’s face clearly. Her fair complexion

contrasted against the panic in her eyes, making her look like a frightened rabbit ready to bolt.

He felt a wild desire surge within him.

He wanted to bite her, to tear her apart
