Chapter 897

Elowen was still terrified, clinging to Evelyn’s leg and crying.

Evelyn, still shaken, crouched down and scooped both Elowen and Sophia into her arms. Elowen was sobbing, and

Sophia timidly burrowed into Evelyn’s embrace.

With a pang of sympathy, Evelyn kissed their little heads and comforted, “Granny’s little angels, don’t cry, the bad

man is gone, and there’s nothing to be afraid of.”

Thalassa took a deep breath, allowing the tension in her heart to ease a bit. She pulled out her keys and unlocked

the door.

Holding Atticus and Dorian’s hands, she walked in.

Evelyn, cradling Elowen and Sophia, followed suit.

Turning around, Thalassa shut the door and even double-locked it, fearing that Bruce might come back.

“Mom, I’ll help you find a new place to live soon. This place is not safe,” Thalassa suggested, referring to the

constant trouble caused by Bruce and his kin. By moving and not disclosing the address, they would be safer.

Evelyn sighed, “Moving from one rented place to another, we’re always in a state of displacement.”

Thalassa lowered her gaze, feeling a pang of guilt. She was still unable to afford a house, causing her mother to

share her nomadic existence.

“Just give me a few years to save up, and I’ll buy you a house. For now, we’ll have to make do. I’ll start house-

hunting tomorrow,” Thalassa promised.

Evelyn didn’t respond, simply patting Elowen’s back and stroking Sophia’s head to soothe them both.

“Mommy, who was that man? Was he really Grandpa?” Dorian tilted his little head, his innocent eyes full of curiosity

as he looked at Thalassa.

At the mention, Evelyn, too, wore a bemused expression, casting a quizzical gaze at Thalassa.

She could understand why Thalassa hadn’t told Lysander that she wasn’t Bruce’s daughter, but why keep it from

Bruce? Thalassa patiently explained to Dorian, “That man thinks he’s your grandpa, but he’s not. I handled it the

way I did to avoid provoking him and risking him hurting you.” Thalassa spoke earnestly.

Bruce had been terrifying earlier.

Just a few words from Evelyn had agitated him enough to reveal a murderous intent. With his unstable mood and

sinister scheming, who knew what he might do if provoked?

If he truly intended to harm them, Evelyn and Thalassa wouldn’t stand a chance against a strong man like him.

If he hurt the children, Thalassa would never forgive herself.

In the dilemma between a moment of satisfaction and the safety of her children, Thalassa had chosen the latter.

After all, some damage is irreversible, but the truth will always come out.

Evelyn, understanding Thalassa’s approach after her explanation, agreed that Bruce had indeed been frightening. A

cornered dog would jump over the wall, let alone a man.

“Oh no, I forgot something!” Elowen, who had been whimpering in Evelyn’s arms, suddenly perked up and

exclaimed.

This startled both Thalassa and Evelyn.

Evelyn, her nerves frayed, asked, “What is it?”

“I need to call Daddy and tell him to catch the bad man and punch him!” Elowen declared, making a little fist, then

pressed the buttons on her wristwatch phone to dial./

On seeing this, Thalassa was taken aback and hastily tried to stop her.
