After their stroll concluded, Cayden drove him and Avery back to the Moore residence.
At first, she rejected the idea. Due to the recent influx of negative news about her, she was certain Jeffrey and
Allie's opinion of her had soured and that they would be unwilling to meet with her.
However, Cayden insisted on bringing Avery back.
He was going to announce to everyone that she was his woman and that she would one day become the lady of the
Moore family.
Unable to convince him otherwise, she returned to the residence with him.
She felt uneasy as she followed behind him, afraid that she would be humiliated by Jeffrey or Allie if she came
across them.
However, it was midnight by that point, so everyone was asleep. No one knew she had entered the Moore
residence.
Avery's first stop was Zachary and Rory's room.
Due to their young age and Rory being much timider, they were still staying in the same room. After Avery laid her
eyes on her angelic, sleeping children, she left a kiss on their foreheads.
Then she went to take a hot water bath, which soothed her tired, cold, and stiff body.
Upon exiting the bathroom in a robe, Cayden, who had also finished washing, carried her to his room.
“I should rest in the guest room here tonight, or maybe sleep with the children...” Avery was feeling somewhat
apprehensive as she believed she shouldn't do as she pleased when Jeffrey was also at home.
That was why she thought it was more appropriate for her to sleep in the guest room.
Her intimate relationship with Cayden was no longer news to the Moore family. However, because they weren't
married yet, she was worried the family members, who already disliked her to begin with, would despise her more
if she stayed in the house as though she had the right to do so.
“You'll be sleeping here tonight!” He domineeringly grabbed her slender waist. “There's nothing for you to fear with
me around.”
“But, I...” Avery still felt somewhat uneasy
“Don't you believe I'll take care of everything? You're the mother of my children and my wife-to-be. You need to
familiarize yourself with members of the Moore family. Don't worry. We won't be staying here after we get married”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCayden then tapped her cheek.
Truth be told, if not for his children's stay in the mansion, he wouldn't return there as well.
The atmosphere in the building was too tense.
That was because Lily would argue with his mother every day. Their never-ending arguments turned the
atmosphere at home foul.
Upon hearing Cayden's words, Avery let out a sigh of relief in her mind. If we have to live here after we married,
I've no idea how I'm going to handle Allie and her snarky attitude. She's his mother, after all. If my relationship with
her remains ugly, he'll be the one who suffers in the end.
“We'll be staying together for the rest of our lives, Avery. The only person in the Moore family who's difficult to deal
with is my mother. My grandfather may appear strict, but he's willing to listen. As for Lily, you should just ignore her.
You've met Kendrick before. He welcomes you. So, don't be scared of my family, okay?” He smiled teasingly.
In response, she nodded resolutely. “I know. I'll face your family with an open mind.”
Cayden lay on the bed with Avery.
As he pulled her into his embrace, her soft feminine body and his tough masculine body came into contact, fitting
seamlessly with each other.
Caressing her black hair, he whispered, “Tomorrow's the beginning of Henrietta's and Milana's trial...”
That matter had slipped her mind until he brought it up.
Thanks to the series of events that occurred recently and her very busy job, she almost forgot that those two evil
women killed her father.
“I'll attend the trial to watch them receive the punishment they deserve.” The scene of her father in a convulsion
and running out of breath until he died because of their provocation surfaced in her mind.
Hatred burned fiercely in her heart.
...
The next day, due to her overthinking, Avery was unable to sleep well. It wasn't until it was almost morning that she
was able to fall asleep.
When she woke up, Cayden was already gone.
However, before she did, her children were lying on the bed, staring at her sleepy face with wide eyes.
Rory gently poked her mother and whispered in joy, “Daddy really didn't lie to us, Zach. Mommy did come here to
visit us. Why hasn't she woken up, though? Does she like staying in bed, too?”
Zachary placed his forefinger in front of his mouth, gesturing for her sister to stay quiet. “I think Mommy's too tired
from work. She needs rest. We shouldn't bother her and just let her sleep.”
Just as he ended his sentence, he saw Avery's finger moving before she opened her eyes.
It shocked her to see the twins' adorable faces. A moment later, she recalled she was currently in the Moore
residence.
“What time is it now, Rory, Zachary?” she asked because she couldn't find her phone.
Rory took off her snow boots and climbed onto Avery's blanket.
Gazing at her mother with misty eyes, Rory grumbled, “It's already nine in the morning, Mommy. It snowed heavily
outside. Even after Zach and I returned from having a snow fight with each other, you were still asleep. Daddy said
Zach and I have grown up, so we shouldn't laze in bed, yet he allowed you to do that. Daddy is so biased.”
“I was quite tired last night, Sweetheart. I didn't notice the time.” Avery felt ashamed in front of the children.
Worryingly, Zachary asked, “Your eyes look swollen, Mommy. Daddy didn't bully you, did he?”
He was always worried that Cayden would bully his mother since he had a bad temper.
As Avery stared blankly at the mirror, she saw her eyes were indeed swollen, most likely due to her lack of quality
sleep last night. Even her eye bags looked rather bad.
It was probably because Cayden mentioned Henrietta's and her daughter's trial last night. Scenes of their malicious
acts and her father's tragic death played out like a movie in her mind unendingly, which led to her looking haggard.
However, she didn't want to tell her innocent children the real reason why she had an awful sleep. Instead, she
patted their heads comfortingly.
After hiding her eye bags and slightly pale cheeks with makeup, she appeared much more lively.
The children rested their chins on their palms with curiosity on the bed as they watched their mother apply makeup.
From their perspective, it was as if their mother was a magician. With several waves of her hands, she managed to
transform her already dazzling look to become even more alluring.
When Avery concluded her makeup session, she heard a knocking on the door.
Zachary opened the door, allowing a middle-aged housekeeper to inform Avery, “Good morning, Ms. Rumpley. Mr.
