Chapter 596 Melissa's face was an ashen shade of terror, her eyes darting unconsciously into the dark corners of the forest, a shiver running down her spine at the thought of some boogeyman lurking in the bushes, waiting to exact some sinister plan.
She couldn't fathom why Megan would entangle herself with such a criminal organization. She was crazy.
Aurelia, with a swift turn, headed back toward the campsite, and Melissa followed her like a shadow, terrified of being left alone in the dark.
Once back at the camp, Melissa dove into her tent, vowing not to step foot outside again, lest danger find her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLeopold hung out with William and Skyler over a game of Monopoly, but as soon as Megan was nowhere to be seen, he slipped into Aurelia’s tent.
He'd caught a glimpse of Melissa and her coming back together from the trail.
"Did Melissa play a hardball again?" Aurelia whispered so softly it was almost a breath, "I spilled the beans about Megan and the AK Group.
Melissa's scared stiff, holed up in her tent. You're not mad, right? | just didn't want her to get played like Ritchie did. Better she knows than be used by Megan unknowingly." Leopold shrugged nonchalantly, "Better out than in, | guess. Saves her from being Megan's lapdog." Aurelia propped herself on an elbow, a wry smile playing on her lips, “Here | thought you'd played some tricks to flip Megan to our side. Seems she's still playing for the criminal organization?" He frowned slightly, aware that some people can't be saved from themselves.
He had given her a chance. If she didn't value it, she couldn't blame him for being ruthless.
“Try to avoid clashing with Megan.’ He needed to prevent her from making a desperate move. But Aurelia misread his caution as concern for Megan, feeling as if she'd been stabbed in the heart.
"No worries. As long as she doesn't provoke me, I'm steering clear,’ she declared, then with sudden force, shoved him, “Now scram before she sees you and throws a fit of jealousy my way." Leopold heaved a sigh, swallowed whatever he was going to say, and crawled out.
Aurelia yanked the tent flap shut, not wanting another glimpse of him.
The jerk was caring so much for Megan, but why bother with her? She wasn't interested in a quy like him.
Megan, after a while in her tent, felt restless and went looking for Leopold, only to find him already asleep.

“Megan, I'm bushed from the hike today. I'm hitting the hay early, so no chit-chat tonight." "Why's everyone hitting the sack so soon?” Megan pouted.
“Early night means we can catch the sunrise,” Melissa said with a forced smile, “You're pregnant, and you should rest too. No late nights." “I'm wide awake." Megan was itching to sneak into Leopold's tent, to be wrapped in his arms, his strong physique turning her on.
"If you can't sleep, play some games or watch videos. You'll doze off eventually Melissa suggested while casting a wary glance at the bodyguard standing watch outside.
Thank God for the bodyguard, or she'd be too scared to even blink.
The criminal organization was full of cutthroat characters. Wasn't she scared of joining them? Unaware of Melissa's discomfort, Megan stroked her belly and said forlornly, "Melissa, | really wish | could be recognized by the Stirling family soon and live in Leopold's mansion. | feel like a mistress." Melissa pouted. With her background, getting accepted into the Stirling family seemed an uphill battle.
“Megan, you know the Stirling family expects a spotless daughter-in-law. If you want in, you gotta be squeaky clean, no dark past, no scandals." Megan's heart skipped a beat, feeling uneasy.
"Melissa, I've always been clean, and how could | have a dark past?" Melissa responded, "Whatever happened in those six years, you never talk about it. If you can't clear the air, the Stirling family will never accept you even though | believe in you." mmMwWLIII0fifl0&1 mmMwWLIII0fifl0&1 mmMwWLII0fiflO& 1 mmMwWLIII0fifl0&1 mmMwWL1i10fif10&1 mmMwWLIiI0fiflO&1
